High-comfort, low-energy ventilation An energy efficient, fresh, clean and healthy climate - all year round Ubbink Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV) systems provide constant, controlled ventilation to homes without creating cold draughts or increasing the heat loss normally caused by ventilation. By using a Ubbink HRV system the calculated heat loss is actually reduced, making homes much more energy efficient. Stale air - polluted with smells, CO 2 and humidity will be constantly extracted via ducted air valves in the kitchen, utility, bathrooms and cloakrooms and passed through a counter current heat exchanger before being evacuated to the outside as cold air. Fresh air - ducted from outside via a G6 pollen filter, is warmed by the high efficiency heat exchanger and then delivered through air valves into living rooms and bedrooms. All appliances are tested and listed to SAP Appendix Q. A COMPACT APPLIANCE IN 3 VERSIONS The appliance comes in three versions and three capacities at 150Pa: Ubbink HRV Compact C180 - capacity of 180m 3 /h; Ubbink HRV Medio M300 - capacity of 300m 3 /h; Ubbink HRV Grande G400 - capacity of 400m 3 /h. EVERY SITUATION REQUIRES ITS OWN APPLIANCE Ubbink HRV M300 and G400 are available in two versions - with four air connections at the top (4b) as standard or with two connections at the top and two at the bottom (2b/2o) to special order. Ubbink HRV C180 is only available with four air connections at the top (4b). The air output spigots to the atmosphere and the air input from the atmosphere are always at the top. All air connections come with a groove for sealing rings. Dependent on the air flow rate, Ubbink HRV C180 is suitable for connecting ducts of Ø125mm, M300 for ducts of Ø150 or Ø160mm (from approx. 260m 3 /h) and G400 for ducts of Ø180mm. CONSTANT FLOW FANS At the chosen ventilation setting, the constant flow fans keep the air flow rate constant under all conditions. This results in a permanently high efficiency while reducing initial adjustments to the minimum. The air flow rate is not influenced by filter fouling either. FROST PROTECTION The frost protection system provides optimum protection from freezing which preserves the high efficiency of the system at extreme temperatures. Constant filtering The appliances come with two standard filters that can easily be removed. (These filters remove 95% of the dust from the air. A high-performance fine dust filter is optionally available (see bottom filter on the photograph). 2

Ubbink HRV M300 and G400 4b R Ubbink HRV M300 and G400 2b/2o R DEMAND-CONTROLLED VENTILATION Normal operation is to divide the input ventilation air to suit the size of the various rooms to be supplied. As fresh outdoor air to those rooms is only really needed when they are occupied, Ubbink HRV s can incorporate demand-controlled ventilation which can be set to monitor room occupation (through CO 2 measurement) or set to operate at specific times using the programmable clock. A TNO certificate of equivalence indicates a significant energy advantage from such a controlled demand system. Setup with CO 2 -sensor Control box OpenTherm Ubbink HR HOW IT WORKS When the air quality is good, there is no need for ventilation - air quality deteriorates when rooms are occupied. When air quality deteriorates, the available ventilation air will be sent to the occupied room first. Only when that is insufficient will the quantity of ventilation air be increased. This means the available ventilation air is sent to the room where the most ventilation air is needed, so providing an intelligent, customised system. A lower ventilation flow rate also means a lower energy consumption. REMOTE CONTROL Communication between the various components can be arranged through the Zigbee protocol - a wireless communication system. All components, including the remote control panel, are connected to a wall socket. CO 2 sensors determine the ventilation air flow rate. At night, the ventilation in the living room is reduced to the minimum and conversely, can be increased in the bedrooms, without the high flow rate causing additional noise nuisance. 2 Automatic based on a time program (clock function). A menu enables adjustment of the control damper settings for every day. The user can set six time blocks per day. 3 Manual control. The fan setting can directly be changed by turning the rotary knob on the remote control. 4

ACCESSORIES FOR BALANCED VENTILATION WITH HEAT RECOVERY Ubbink Climate Systems have developed and selected appliance-specific accessories that can be used to create an excellent installed system. Starting points are quality and ease of use and assembly. BYPASS UNIT FOR NIGHT VENTILATION Ubbink HRV M300 and G400 are available ex factory with a bypass for night ventilation that shuts off almost completely. In summer, this bypass unit ensures that cool night air replaces (as far as possible) the indoor air that has been heated during the day. The air is routed through the bypass unit. The appliance comes with an automatic control system that opens and closes the bypass valve. A bypass unit can also be retrofitted by the installer or the user. This bypass unit circulates approx.. 70% of the input air around the Ubbink HRV heat exchanger. Note: not currently available for the Ubbink HRV C180 model. 3-WAY SWITCH WITH FILTER INDICATION The 3-way switch allows the user to choose between three modes: 1 absence mode; 2 presence mode; 3 cooking/showering mode (boost). The 3-way switch is connected quickly and easily on the outside of the appliance using a data cable and a connector. Additional switches can also be connected and fitted to any room in the dwelling. For convenience, a 3-way switch is available with a filter indicator light (shown below) which indicates when the filter requires cleaning. WIRELESS REMOTE CONTROL A wireless remote control is also available which can control the ventilation system from anywhere in the house without electric provisions. Several remote controls (transmitters) can be set for one receiver, for example in the bathroom and in the kitchen. ADDITIONAL CONTROL OPTIONS Ubbink HRV M300 and G400 can be extended with an optional pcb. This pcb can be used to control various accessories, for example a preheater and/or postheater (1000W), a damper for sending extra ventilation air to certain rooms or an emergency contact. In addition, the optional pcb has an input for a CO 2 sensor and a humidity sensor. Based on laboratory and practice measurements, Ubbink can supply specially developed silencers and acoustic hoses that give the best results in combination with the Ubbink HRV. These silencers are available in Ø125mm, Ø150mm and Ø180mm in finished sections from 1m. Connection kits have been composed for ease of assembly of the Ubbink HRV. We strongly advise against the use of other acoustic hoses. SOUND ENGINEERING DATA When using 1m of Ubbink acoustic hose, the sound pressures shown in tables 1 and 2 can be expected in a living room (measured under ISO 7235), expressed in db(a). 5

HRV HEAT RECOVERY DUCT SYSTEM The insulated, HRV heat recovery synthetic duct system is available in Ø125mm, Ø150mm and Ø180 mm in lengths up to 2.25m and also includes long socket sleeves and compact bends in angles of 15, 30, 45 and 90. The availability of long sections and compact bends makes the HRV heat recovery duct system neat and tidy, very quick and easy to assemble, reduces wastage and makes the system perfect for use in complicated design installations. In addition, the ducts are easy to inspect and clean through a special inspection sleeve that can also be used as fixation bracket and the supplied cutting template ensures that the ducts can always be cut simply and correctly. The HRV heat recovery pipe is used for ducting air to and from the atmosphere and elsewhere in an unheated loft. SOUND REDUCTION The relatively soft EPE material offers additional sound absorption compared to more rigid materials such as metal and EPP. A comparative measurement of a 90 bend and 3 metres of duct on a heat recovery unit (at 225m 3 /h) shows an additional sound absorption of EPE compared to metal and EPP of 6dB(A) and 5dB(A) respectively. TO COMPLETE THE SYSTEM Ubbink have developed a comprehensive range of distribution ducts for the ventilation market, complete with all required accessories such as couplings, bends, connections and supply and extract valves. The sophisticated design, dimensions and spacers of the system result in a low air resistance - vital for the correct performance of the ventilation system. All the parts necessary for a complete installation of the system are available from Ubbink. Parts Insulated synthetic pipe and bends (45 and 90 ) with socket sleeves for the HRV heat recovery duct system. Flow resistance values (in Pa-static) Installation example The above installation shows the Ubbink HRV M300 2b/2o R model. The ducts to and from the atmosphere are from the HRV heat recovery duct system. The ducts to and from the dwelling are provided with acoustic flexible hose for sound absorption.
