Two (2) samples of each Wallcovering specified, of sufficient size that will show one full repeat of any repeated pattern or design, but at least 18" x 18" (450 x 450 mm) in size (minimum), and showing full range of any texture or color variations which may be expected. b. When wallcovering is to be backed prior to installation, provide two (2) samples of sufficient size, but at least 18" x 18" (450 x 450 mm) in size (minimum), to show pattern and dimensional stability when backed as well as any texture changes or color variations which may be expected as a result of the backing process. c. Interior Contractor to provide to the Owner and the Consultant a schedule of required quantities (yardage, rolls, square feet, or square meters) of each Wallcovering material specified.

09950 - WALLCOVERINGS 09950-2 1.2.3 Review of samples will be for color and texture only; compliance with other requirements is the responsibility of the Interior Contractor. 1.2.4 All Wallcovering delivered and installed shall match the applicable approved samples. 1.3 Quality Assurance 1.3.1 All Wallcoverings shall be installed using experienced, skilled workmen to the highest standard of workmanship. The finished appearance of the Wallcovering shall be free from blisters, wrinkles, or any other defects due to faulty workmanship. 1.3.2 All work and materials shall conform to the drawings and specifications; any changes or deviations in materials or methods must be approved by the Consultant. 1.3.3 Wallcovering shall meet requirements of local and state codes where applicable. Comply with all laws, ordinances, rules and regulations and orders of any public authority having jurisdiction over this part of the Work. 1.3.4 All fabrics used as Wallcoverings shall be appropriately backed according to manufacturers recommendations and installers recommendations for use as Wallcovering. 1.3.5 All finish materials shall be treated with flame retardant process where required by local code. A letter from the Fire Marshall's office shall be sent to the Owner indicating such approval where required. 1.3.7 The Interior Contractor shall be responsible for taking accurate job-site measurements for all dimensions related to the Work. 1.3.8 The Interior Contractor shall examine all conditions pertaining to the installation of Wallcovering and

09950 - WALLCOVERINGS 09950-3 shall provide all coordination as required to achieve the proper and timely completion of the installation. 1.3.9 The Interior Contractor will not change source or brands of materials during the course of the Work unless approved by the Consultant. 1.4 Product Handling 1.4.1 Use all means necessary to protect the materials of this Section before, during and after installation and to protect the work and materials of all other trades. 1.4.2 In the event of damage, immediately make all repairs and replacements needed to the approval of the Owner and at no additional cost to the Owner. PART TWO: PRODUCTS 2.1 Materials 2.1.1 Provide the Wallcoverings as indicated on drawings and specifications, unless indicated otherwise. 2.1.2 Adhesive for application of each Wallcovering shall be as recommended by the manufacturer and appropriate to the Wallcovering as well as the surface to which Wallcovering is applied. 2.1.3 When Wallcovering is specified as provided by Owner or by others, such Wallcovering may be substituted with other similar Wallcovering with no additional cost for installation due to such substitution. Notify Consultant prior to proceeding with any such substitution. 2.1.4 Interior Contractor shall receive Wallcovering, whether supplied by Owner, by others, or by Interior Contractor, and shall immediately upon receipt inspect Wallcovering for damage, manufacturing defects or flaws and verify type and quantity. Any damage, defects, flaws or discrepancies in type or yardage shall be reported to the Owner immediately and prior to any cutting or installation. 2.1.5 Interior Contractor shall appropriately store, protect, and secure other- or Owner-supplied Wallcovering until required for installation.

PART THREE: EXECUTION 3.1 Inspection and Preparation of Surfaces 3.1.1 It is the responsibility of the Interior Contractor to see that surface is properly prepared to receive Wallcovering as specified. 3.1.2 Installation of Wallcovering shall not commence until the surfaces to which they will be applied have been inspected by the applicator and found to be satisfactory. 3.2 Installation 3.2.1 All installations shall be done in a workmanlike manner consistent with the standards of the industry and shall be guaranteed for one year. 3.2.2 Install materials only when normal temperature and humidity conditions approximate interior conditions that will exist when the space is occupied. Maintain constant minimum temperature as recommended by manufacturer in spaces for at least 48 hours before, during and 48 hours after application. 3.2.3 No seams shall occur at outside corners of walls, unless indicated otherwise. 3.2.4 Unless specifically indicated otherwise on drawings or specifications, on surfaces requiring more than one full width of Wallcovering, seam locations shall be as follows: a. When an even number of full Wallcovering widths is required, center the seam on the center line of the surface width with equal number of widths occurring at each side. b. When an odd number of full Wallcovering widths is required, center one full width on the center line of surface width with equal number of widths occurring at each side. c. When full and partial Wallcovering widths are

09950 - WALLCOVERINGS 09950-5 required, center one full width on the center line of surface width with equal number of full and/or partial widths occurring at each side. d. Install seams plumb. Horizontal seams will not be permitted, unless specifically approved by Consultant. 3.2.8 Remove switchplates, wall plates and surface mounted fixtures and cut wallcovering evenly to edges of outlet box or support. 3.2.9 Remove excess adhesive along finished seams as recommended by manufacturer. 3.2.10 Install wallcovering with complete substrate bond, smooth, clean, without wrinkles, gaps or overlaps. 3.2.11 Wallcovering may be "railroaded" to avoid vertical seams when such orientation does not result in horizontal seams and when pattern does not require vertical orientation. All Wallcovering of the same type in a room/area shall have the same orientation. 3.2.12 All patterned Wallcovering shall be matched exactly at seams. Trim selvages to assure color uniformity and pattern match at seams. 3.2.13 Where an applied base is to be installed by others, Interior Contractor shall coordinate and verify proposed base dimension prior to cutting and installing wallcovering.

09950 - WALLCOVERINGS 09950-6 3.2.14 All soil marks, flaws or other defects shall be eliminated, removed or repaired as directed by the Owner prior to final acceptance. 3.2.15 Where Wallcoverings with patterns with obvious repeats are specified at more than one location per room/area or in more than one related room/area, Wallcovering shall be installed so that the placement and orientation of patterns match at the Wallcovering areas, unless indicated otherwise on drawings or specifications. 3.2.16 Prior to installation of Wallcovering, Interior Contractor shall confirm and verify each Wallcovering material with the Consultant. 3.2.17 Provide two copies of manufacturer's data on Wallcovering showing that materials comply with requirements of data sheets and specifications, also including installation instructions and maintenance recommendations, according to Section 01720. 3.2.18 The Interior Contractor shall correct any installation defects within a reasonable period of time. 3.2.19 The Interior Contractor shall be responsible for cleaning up any debris resulting from his work.
