New RSP 15 Series The new low speed RSP 15 Series is the first step of a revision that is to affect the whole range of Piovan granulators. The target is the repositioning of Piovan granulators on the market. Piovan RSP 15 Series Granulators are designed for the immediate recovery of sprues and waste pieces beside the injection moulding machine. RSP 15 Granulation Chamber Sturdy: Granulation chamber walls and rotor are thick and sturdy, made entirely in-house at CNC centres according to the original Piovan design. The sturdiness of the cutting mechanism allows for the recovery also of abrasive materials. RSP 15 Rotor The RSP 15 Series is characterised by a 150 mm diameter rotor with a length ranging from 150 to 375 mm, with multiple staggered blades and scissor-like cutting action. RSP 15 Feature of the Rotor Quality Regrind: The low speed rotor ensures a high quality regrind, uniform in size and with reduced dust content. RSP 15 Feature of the Rotor The granulation-dust collecting side pockets are now placed on the side of the granulation chamber. RSP 15 Feature of the Rotor The rotor has been specifically engineered to prevent material from getting stuck in the spaces in between blades/blade-holders. RSP 15 Blades and grids Mobile and fixed blades are the same of the previous RS series. Mobile blades are disposable, they can be changed quickly and need no adjustment. Fixed blades can be re-sharpened with the possibility to adjust them. The grid is reversible and in stainless steel. According to the size required, different grids are available (holes diam 4-5-6-8 mm.) For the recovery of thin sprues, a special grid version with 6 mm diameter holes is available. RSP 15 Transmission Transmission and flywheel pulley are integrated on the machine right side, which has been reinforced to make the granulator sturdier. Standard pulley flywheel pulley (option) Transmission by V-belt-drive. The V-belt length has been changed: the winding angle is now wider. (The belttightner is no longer foreseen) The flywheel has been changed with a flywheel pulley. RSP 15 Safety devices The safety devices have been changed, abandoning the button solution in favour of a double safety device with hand wheel that allows the rotor to stop before the operator can access the granulation chamber. The granulator operates only when all the safety devices are on. The operator must manually un-block a safety device in order to access the granulation chamber and the grid, and another safety device to open the hopper. RSP 15 Safety devices Active and passive safety: The distance between the feeding inlet and the rotor prevents any risk of contact, even accidental, from the operator. RSP 15 Feeding Hoppers New hopper design: In comparison with the previous Series RS 15, the main innovation of the new RSP 15 range has affected the hopper, redesigned to allow for a smooth fall of material with no risk of back flowt or getting stuck and maximum flexibility. Flexibility: -The standard hopper (h 1200 mm) is suited for manual, robot and conveyor-belt feeding. (For robot application a large inlet feeding device is available) -For shorter conveyor-belts, a 1000 mm high hopper is available. By adding an optional inlet, the h 1000 mm high hopper can be also used with the sprue picker. Particular attention has been paid to hoppers which have been designed with a geometrical internal inclination surface. This action has allowed: - Ease of feeding; the feeding hopper facilitates the introduction of pieces inside the hopper, also by means of a sprue picker. RSP 15 Feeding Hoppers - The hopper design facilitates the feeding of long sprues, in particular with the standard hopper h 1200 mm (sprues up to 500 600 mm). RSP 15 Cleaning operation As for cleaning operations, the new RSP 15 models represent a significant improvement (comparison with the previous Series RS 15). Access to granulation chamber for cleaning or maintenance operations is now easier due to the open sides. To access the granulation chamber and the hopper it is sufficient to un-block some hand-operated hooks, with no need for tools. The rotor has been specifically engineered to prevent material from getting stuck in the spaces in between blades/blade-holders. As a consequence, it is possible to perfectly clean the rotor group especially when changing material. On the sides of the granulation chamber, there are some connections for compressed air, so that it is possible to perfectly clean also the lateral discs with no risk of contamination. RSP 15 Noise The noise level is kept within the limits due to the hopper body soundproofing and the particularly silent cutting action. In order to minimise the noise generated while granulating, changes have been carried out in terms of: > sound-proofing of the hoppers > internal geometry of the hoppers These modifications have resulted into no significant variations in terms of noise levels compared to the previous RS Series.
