Preliminary results indicate no findings. IT Manager Smith attended the quarterly ESO Oversight Committee meeting on Monday, October 29 th in Bellevue. Captain Kuzaro attended EMS World Exposition on Tuesday, October 30 th to Saturday, November 3 rd in Nashville, TN. Senior Staff held their weekly meeting on Tuesday, October 30 th at Headquarters Station 31. The Board of Governance held a Special Meeting on Tuesday, October 30 th, for the purpose of receiving the preliminary 2019 budgets, at Headquarters Station 31. FM Stewart & AFM Rogers attended the Fire Investigation Workshop on Wednesday, October 31 st in Kent. HR Manager Borden & Fiscal Coordinator Boyle attended supervisory skills training on Thursday, November 1 st at Washington Cities Insurance Authority in Tukwila. VRFA staff attended the annual Auburn Food Bank Harvest Breakfast on Friday, November 2 nd at Grace Community Church. 1

Administrator Robertson attended the City of Auburn Heathiest City 2020 community outreach event on Saturday, November 3 rd at Mount Baker Middle School in South Auburn. Administrator Robertson, DC Swearingen & Executive Assistant Bartol will attend the KCFD 31 Board of Commissioners meeting on Monday, November 5 th. Senior Staff held their weekly meeting on Tuesday, November 6 th, at Headquarters Station 31. On Wednesday, November 7 th, Administrator Robertson will attend the South King County Leadership Forum, sponsored by King County Councilmember Peter von Reichbauer, in Federal Way. Chair Nancy Backus will participate in a panel discussion on governance at the Washington Fire Chiefs Leadership Conference on Wednesday, November 7 th in Lacey. DC Swearingen will attend the Washington Fire Chiefs Leadership Conference on Wednesday, November 7 th and Thursday, November 8 th in Lacey. Command Staff will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, December 8 th at Headquarters Station 31. VRFA Senior Staff & Honor Guard will attend the Habitat for Humanity Veteran s Home Celebration on Friday, November 9 th in Pacific. Administrator Robertson, the Honor Guard and crew will participate in the annual Veteran s Day Parade on Saturday, November 10 th in downtown Auburn. 911 Requests for Services / Customer Service: Automatic Fire Alarm: (Lakeland Hills) On Monday, October 29 th at 8:20 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a residence for smoke detectors activated. On arrival firefighters found smoke detectors had been set off by steam from a clothes dryer that was venting into the residence. Firefighters assisted the resident with hooking up the exhaust pipe for the dryer. 2

Motor Vehicle Accident: (South Auburn) On October 30 th at 5:52 p.m., firefighters responded to a two car motor vehicle accident. One adult female and one middle age male were transported for minor injuries to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC) by private ambulance. Hay Truck Roll Over: (Auburn) On Wednesday, October 31 st at 11:52 a.m., firefighters responded at Auburn Police request for a wash down of the road at Auburn Way South and Highway 18 due to an earlier roll over of a hay truck. Motor Vehicle Accident: (Auburn) On Thursday, November 1 st at 8:03 a.m., firefighters responded to a two vehicle accident in front of West Auburn High School. Crews arrived to find moderate damage to both vehicles involved. One adult female patient was treated on-scene and transported to MAMC by VRFA Aid Unit. Motor Vehicle Accident: (Algona) On Friday, November 2 nd at 9:21 p.m., firefighters with Washington State Patrol responded to a two car motor vehicle accident on North Bound Highway 167. One young adult female was treated for minor injuries and transported to MAMC by private ambulance. Car vs Pedestrian: (Lea Hill) On Saturday, November 3 rd at 2:28 p.m. firefighters and King County Medics responded to a middle aged male that was hit by a car on Highway 18. The patient was evaluated and treated at the scene by VRFA personnel and King County Medics. The patient was transported to Valley Medical Center by King County Medics for further evaluation and treatment. Aid Call: (Pacific) On Sunday, November 4 th at 1:26 p.m., firefighters responded to a middle age female that was having chest pain. The patient was treated at the scene, evaluated by Medic One, and transported to MAMC by private ambulance. Training Division Activities: Year 2017 2018 Weekly 204 417 Year to Date 21,528 22,704 Swift Water Rescue Training: Firefighters from VRFA and other SKCFTC partner agencies attended this drill designed for ongoing training of Swiftwater technicians. It provides training for rescuers working in moving water and reinforces skills needed to mitigate incidents. The training was held at the Green River Gorge Park. 3

Zone 3 Truck Drill: VRFA Truck companies and others throughout the region met for their quarterly drills. The drills were conducted at an acquired structure in Tukwila. Companies were rotated through three stations including: large area search techniques, oriented search practice and vertical ventilation. The ability to get buildings like this is rare and having the opportunity to drill and train on a real building enhanced the training. Fire Marshal s Office Business Fire & Life Safety Inspections: Total Annual Fire & Life Safety Inspections completed this week: 52 Inspections completed by Certified Fire Inspectors this week: 16 Inspections completed by Company Level staff this week: 36 Pre-Application Reviews: Pre-Application Reviews completed this week: 2 Construction Inspections: Construction Inspections completed this week: 4 On-Site Inspections/Meetings: On-Site Inspections/Meetings completed this week: 2 Land Use & Plan Reviews: Land Use Plan Reviews completed this week: 3 Plan Reviews completed this week: 10 Fire Investigations: There were no new calls for service for the Fire Investigation Unit. Public Education PIEO staff provided fire safety and evacuation training to residents at Plaza 17. A press release was issued regarding the cause of the Heritage Building Fire. Posts were made to social media sites regarding the Station 33 Open House, Call Volume, Heritage Building Fire cause, Change Your Clock, Change Your Battery and VRFA Member Spotlight (Firefighter Palmer). Change Your Clock and Smoke Alarm Batteries banners were hung at all VRFA stations. 4

PIEO staff gathered content and began editing content for the upcoming rebuild of the website. Postcards were sent to all those who have received smoke alarm batteries from the VRFA in the past. The cards offer free batteries for their smoke alarms thanks to a grant from the Energizer Battery Company. Planning and Logistics P&L received 1 apparatus and 9 facility/small tool maintenance requests. New fire hose has been received. This hose will replace damaged and obsolete hose. New extrication tools have been received. These new battery operated tools will be placed on the new fire pumper in 2019. HVAC repairs were made at Station 35. Annual service was completed on all air compressors 5
