SECTION OF THE ROTARY HEAT EXCHANGER WITH THE HEAT PUMP: ideal solution targeting multiple goals In conventional design of air-handling and heating-cooling system several units are used: either chiller or condensing unit are combined with the main air handling unit or additional parts are integrated. Often both units are ordered from different suppliers, thus, this requires additional costs for installing and commissioning. Combination of rotary heat exchanger and heat pump offers new opportunities in design of modular units. The unit can work in winter and in summer. When the unit runs in summer mode the supplied air is cooled using rotary heat exchanger first and then, additionally, using heat pump. The reverse process is used when the unit works in winter mode the supplied air is heated. The most important thing is that the unit is factory adjusted and tested. This minimizes efforts required on site. EFFICIENCY ROTOR VS. ROTOR WITH HEAT PUMP When specific models are discussed, the advantage of the rotor with the heat pump becomes obvious. We have compared 5000 m 3 /h unit working in Central European weather conditions, where the winter temperature is as low as -12 C, and as high as +28 C in summer. The operation of these components altogether is consistent, so the unit can be controlled smoothly. All system components are interconnected using copper pipeline inside the unit. The unit is suited for use of R410A type environment friendly refrigerant. Double protection is integrated into the heat pump.
