Client Report The Macleay Regis, Potts Point Mr Ken & Mrs Toni Meller Designer: Alyssa Turner Job Number: 7456 Date: April 20
Client Report Brief Interior colour scheme including flooring for Living / Dining New Furniture Window treatments for Living / Dining Introduction The following report outlines suggestions and recommendations in reponse to the above brief. The stylistic approach taken is inspired by Modern Bohemian interiors. It uses bold colours, mixtures of old and new with finishes and textures to help unify the spaces and create a welcoming yet bold statement. Dining Room It is recommended to make this room stand out from the rest as glimpses of it can be seen from the entrance, kitchen and living area. It is suggested to cover 3 walls fully in wallpaper by Sanderson Dandelion Clocks. The other wall is to be painted the same as the Living. This will help lighten up the room making it feel larger as well as complimenting the dark timber floor. It is recommended that the carpet be removed and existing timber floor to be stained with Dulux Quick drying Vanish in Antique Walnut. Furniture The colour scheme is complimented with a round white laminated table with Cesca chairs in white and chromium plated tubing. The table and chairs are very retro mixed with the oak veneer sideboard making it a modern piece. The sideboard is great for storing table cloths, placemats, serviettes etc. Accessories / Lighting Accessories chosen consist of bright green glass vases and white/aqua photo frames to help bring the colours out of the wallpaper. To make the most of the modern bohemian interior, it is suggested to soften to bright colours of the walls with a contemporary chandelier from Heals. Window treatment The windows should be soft and flowing allowing the most of the sunlight to shine through and making the most of the views. Using a sheer white curtain fabric will allow this. It is recommended to team it up with a pewter rode to add a bit a sparkle and modernism to the window.
Space Planning The dining room has two large windows with views across the city. To take full advantage of the view the table has been placed in the centre with a side table sitting under one of the windows to optimise an otherwise unusable space. The table/chairs are placed with enough space for people to walk from the kitchen to the living room without being obstructed. Living Room It is recommended that this room is to flow on from the Dining. With that in mind it is suggested that the walls be painted Blue Reflections to match in with the wallpaper in the dining. With the skirting and ceiling to be painted White Mist both Dulux. The flooring should also be the same as the dining and continuing to the kitchen and hallway. Furniture It has been noted that the client likes to entertain and so seating is a large contributor to this layout. A large soft sofa has been incorporated into the design to allow for comfort while allowing more seating. It is recommended to team it up with some classic retro chairs in bright colours making features of the seating. Teamed up with a retro design sideboard with modern finishes a funky looking bookcase and a modern woven coffee table in light natural colours. Accessories / Lighting Accessories consist of a range of mix and match cushions from Squash Cushions Stormy range tying in all the colours from the furniture, walls and accessories. Once again bright accessories are paired with traditional ones to bring modernism to the bohemian style. Lighting is important it can create moods. The room is scattered with table lamps and floor lamps so mood lighting can be created. Kartell pendant in transparent emerald green is recommended so as once again to tie the old in with the new. Walls are covered with art work. A mixture of bright retro wall hangings and a traditional print of a chandelier. It is also suggested to use mirrors to allow the light and colour of the room to bounce around. A rug will also soften the room and pronounce the seating area. Window treatments Same as Dining Space Planning The room is set out around the seating area so it has been placed in the centre of the room facing the fireplace. The arm chairs are placed near the windows to make the maximum use of daylight. The bookcase is in easy reach of the seating area and the sideboard tucked up against the wall making the most of hanging pictures on this otherwise plain wall. The layout also allows for an unobstructed walk from entering and exiting the room.
Plan Indicates traffic flow around the arrangement of the space.
