In the rear of the building is Corrigan Hall, a period room which simply oozes grandeur and warmth. It is a room steeped in history, elegance and sophistication whilst lending itself perfectly for the true romantic who wants to celebrate their big day with fine dining in a relaxed, yet formal setting. Graves Hall is a room in the heart of the property which offers an exquisite setting for a gathering of up to 120 guests. Love & cherish HELPING TO MAKE YOUR DAY MEMORABLE 7 U pon entering the building you are greeted by the magnificent staircase which is decorated with portraits of many of the mid to late twentieth century College Presidents. There are also four marble busts of William Bruce-Joy, Sir Henry Marsh, Thomas Hayden and Henry Quin, all former Fellows and Presidents. The main rooms of the No6 building remain much as they were in 1864. A substantial restoration and redevelopment of the building was carried out in 2003-2006, under the guidance of Scott Tallon Walker.

With all my heart 8 A SPACE FOR ANY OCCASION 9 THE STEARNE ROOM To the right of the main entrance hall is the Stearne Room, named after Dr John Stearne (1624-1669), the founder of the College. Of note in this room is the carved wooden President s chair, presented to the College by Thomas Edward Beatty (1800-1872) in 1866, at the end of his term as President. To the left of the window is an engraving of King William and Queen Mary who granted the College the 1692 Charter. THE STOKES ROOM The room to the left of the entrance hall is the Stokes Room, named after William Stokes (1804-1878), a former President of the College who introduced the stethoscope to Ireland. THE GRAVES HALL When the original building was opened in 1864 this was the main hall for holding important College events. It is decorated with very fine plasterwork, which includes the monogram of Queen Victoria, the reigning monarch at the time of construction. THE CORRIGAN HALL By the 1870s the College had decided that their building was already too small for their requirements. When they purchased the site in 1860, it had included a separate racquet court. As a self-standing building it had escaped the fire which destroyed the old Kildare Street Club, and was leased back to the Club during the 1870s. In 1874 the College reclaimed the racquet court back, and converted it into this hall, linking it to the rest of the building with a new corridor. The ceiling is original to the racquet court, hence its height. It is reportedly constructed entirely without the use of nails. This hall is named after Sir Dominic Corrigan (1802-1880), the first Catholic President of the College. THE CHEYNE ROOM Originally designed to house the College s museum of medical specimens, this room now holds two collections of historical medical books, donated to the College by Dr Thomas Percy Claude Kirkpatrick (1869-1954) and Dr Fleetwood Churchill (1808-1878). THE DUN LIBRARY This room was purposely designed as the library when the building was built in 1864. It takes its name from Sir Patrick Dun (1642-1713), who at his death in 1713 donated his personal library to the College. This formed the nucleus for the library s collections. Today the Library holds approximately 30,000 volumes dating from the 16th to 21st century. With the College s archive collections it forms one of the most important collections for the study of the history of medicine and medical education in Ireland. On the walls of the library are portraits of individuals who have contributed to its development, including Sir Patrick Dun, Edward Hill (who compiled one of the first catalogues of the library), Fleetwood Churchill and T P C Kirkpatrick, both of whom donated their substantial personal libraries to the College.
