USER LICENCE FOR ONE SODASTREAM CO 2 CYLINDER NOT FOR SALE PROPERTY OF SODA-CLUB (CO2) SA - UNDER LICENCE This is a legally binding document between Soda-Club (CO2) SA of Switzerland or its affiliates and the consumer regarding the right to use a Soda-Club/SodaStream CO 2 Cylinder (the CO 2 Cylinder ). To protect users safety and health, various directives and regulations govern and regulate the use, refilling, maintenance, retesting, and repair of carbon dioxide pressure containers (CO 2 Cylinders). SodaStream possesses the legally required knowledge and expertise to be responsible for strict legal compliance. This can only be guaranteed if the CO 2 Cylinders are mantained, examined, retested, and refilled by SodaStream. Thus, each CO 2 Cylinder remains the property of Soda-Club (CO2) SA, or its affiliates, and is provided under licence. 1. When empty, please return the CO 2 Cylinder to either SodaStream or an authorised SodaStream retailer, either in exchange for a full CO 2 Cylinder, for the price of the CO 2 refill only, or for safe disposal. This Licence will continue to bind the use of each subsequent CO 2 Cylinder. 2. Refilling empty CO 2 Cylinders by third parties could be extremely risky. Unauthorised refilling might violate the law and SodaStream s rights. SodaStream warrants the safety only of CO 2 Cylinders refilled by it, bearing a SodaStream safety seal on the valve. 3. If you return the CO 2 Cylinder to SodaStream or an authorised SodaStream retailer, in good condition, without exchanging it for a full one, a return fee will be payable to you. Contact your local SodaStream representative for details. 4. The CO 2 Cylinder, together with this User Licence, may be transferred to a third party provided the third party agrees to be obligated by the conditions and ownership rights expressed herein. Possession of the User Licence proves the right of its holder to use one CO 2 Cylinder under the terms herein. The laws of the country in which the SodaStream CO 2 Cylinder was supplied will govern this licence. If not angled forward, pull it toward you until it clicks. Do not pull carbonating tube. 1 2 3 Insert bottle neck into the snap-lock. Firmly push bottle up and back. The snap-lock mechanism will catch the bottle firmly. 4 Carbonate in short pulses by pulling the carbonation lever down firmly and then allowing the lever to return to a middle rest position before repeating. See the Sparkling Beverage Maker Safety section for more information. 14 W10624164A_EN_v05.indd 14

CARE AND CLEANING Replacing the SodaStream CO 2 Cylinder The SodaStream CO 2 Cylinder is provided to you under licence. See User Licence for One SodaStream CO 2 Cylinder section. The licence allows you to exchange your empty SodaStream CO 2 Cylinder for a full one at a participating SodaStream authorised retailer near you. For a list of SodaStream authorised retailers near you visit www.sodastream.com. See Installing the SodaStream CO 2 Cylinder section for instructions on how to install the new SodaStream CO 2 Cylinder. English Removing the SodaStream CO 2 Cylinder 1 First remove the 1 L Carbonating bottle from the Sparkling Beverage Maker if you have already installed it. 2 Detach the SodaStream CO 2 Cylinder from the Sparkling Beverage Maker by unscrewing towards the left. 15 W10624164A_EN_v05.indd 15

TROUBLESHOOTING C IMPORTANT: Before you call for service, check the list of problems and solutions below: 1. Sparkling Beverage Maker does not work: You might be out of CO 2 ; replace your CO 2 Cylinder by exchanging it for a full SodaStream 60 L CO 2 Cylinder. Check that the carbonating bottle has been filled up with water to the fill line. Ensure that the Sparkling Beverage Maker is always in the upright position. CO 2 Cylinder may be loose. Do not use tools. Detach the bottle, open the rear cover, and retighten the CO 2 Cylinder. Apply firm pressure but do not over tighten. If the CO 2 Cylinder is already firmly in place, it may be empty. Replace with a full 60 L SodaStream CO 2 Cylinder. WARNING: Use caution when removing cylinder as it may be very cold. 2. Cannot pull bottle loader tab: Make sure Carbonation lever is in its fully upward position. Pull bottle loader tab firmly towards you. 3. Cannot install the carbonating bottle: Make sure the carbonating lever is in its fully upward position. Pull the bottle loader tab toward you until it clicks. Insert bottle into Snap-Lock Push bottle up and back until it locks. 4. You hear CO 2 escaping from the bottle during carbonation: Bottle may not be properly attached. Allow the Sparkling Beverage Maker to finish the carbonation process and then you can detach the bottle and reconnect it following the instructions in the Making sparkling water section. It is normal to hear a small amount of CO 2 discharge at the end of the carbonating process. 5. You want to re-carbonate a drink that was already carbonated: WARNING: Never carbonate again after you have added the flavour. You may recarbonate only unflavoured sparkling water. 6. If your Sparkling Beverage Maker continues to release CO 2 after carbonation is finished: WARNING: Do not remove the cylinder or the bottle. Leave the Sparkling Beverage Maker in an upright position. Do not touch it until you no longer hear CO 2 escaping. When the Sparkling Beverage Maker is no longer releasing CO 2, remove the carbonating bottle, and call for service. See Warranty and service section for more information. 16 W10624164A_EN_v05.indd 16

TROUBLESHOOTING CMD + SHIFT CLICK TO CHANGE COPY 7. You hear CO 2 escaping from the Cylinder: There may be a pressure leak between the CO 2 Cylinder holder and the valve. Screw the CO 2 Cylinder tighter into its fitting. Do not use tools. 8. If you experience poor carbonation: If you have not yet added flavour, try to carbonate to a higher carbonation level. Check the CO 2 Cylinder. You might be out of CO 2. Make sure that you are carbonating chilled water. 9. Water overflows from the carbonating bottle during carbonation: Check that the carbonating bottle is filled just to the fill line. Verify that the carbonating bottle is firmly installed in the Snap-Lock. Check by gently pulling the bottom of the bottle. If it feels loose, then remove and reinsert. 10. If your sparkling drink is not flavourful enough: Just add more flavour to taste. Do not re-carbonate after adding the flavour. 11. Small pieces of ice appear in the water during carbonation: This might happen when carbonating very cold water. If this happens, shorten the time of each press until the ice stops appearing or it can affect the carbonation. Any ice created will simply melt. Ice can form and restrict the flow of CO 2 into the bottle during repeated heavy carbonation. Allow a few minutes between carbonating several bottles to maintain normal carbonation time. WARNING: If you suspect your Sparkling Beverage Maker is damaged, stop using it immediately and call for service. See Warranty and service section for more information. 12. The gauge is not working: You may need to replace the batteries as shown in the Care and cleaning section. English 17 W10624164A_EN_v05.indd 17
