Securing the infrastructure that keeps our world going

Protecting the backbone of today s world As urbanisation, globalisation and the interdependence of physical and digital infrastructure impact our society and economy, infrastructure that is secure, functioning and resilient is crucial to keeping our world going. Critical Infrastructure is the backbone of our economy, security and health. Under this term we collect assets or systems which are essential for the maintenance of vital societal functions. We know it as the power we use in our homes, the water we drink, the transportation that moves us, and the communication systems on which we rely. Although there are different definitions of Critical Infrastructure, it generally includes the following areas: // Power & Utilities // Public / Mass transportation // Government buildings // Banking & Finance // Aerospace // Chemical and pharmaceutical production // Oil & Gas refineries // Military & Defense // Chemical production All of these areas are vulnerable to a range of criminal activities such as industrial espionage, vandalism, organised crime, cyber crime and terrorism, natural disasters, and the unfortunate consequences of human error or technical malfunction. Terrorists who want to harm a city or nation focus on these areas. Technical malfunction in any of these areas can lead to chain reactions. One only needs to imagine a power outage and its consequences for a city's traffic and security, malfunc- tioning signals at a train station or terrorists who contaminate water works. Clearly, damage to Critical Infrastructure can have a significant negative impact on the security of assets and nations or the well-being of a nation s citizens. While we cannot prevent all forms of damage or disruption to Critical Infrastructure, a competent level of protection can help limit the detrimental effects on society. Critical Infrastructure security requires the incorporation of knowledge from all major parties involved, which is usually more than a single company. The implementation of fire and security solutions starts with comprehensive planning: // Identifying which stakeholders need to be involved, including owner, local authorities, police and fire department, and legal advisors. // Analysing security challenges for each infrastructure sector, with a focus on core business continuity. // Identifying core security principles and techniques that can be applied to protect each asset. // Clarifying the dependencies and interdependencies of all technology within a building or building complex for mitigating the devastating effects of cascading failures. The goal of any security system is to strengthen the resilience and robustness of the economy, the society and its people. 02 // Solutions for Critical Infrastructure

Integrated solutions tighten security and maintain efficiency Indispensable infrastructures rely on efficient security solutions, which help avoid incidents and ensure a quick reaction and recovery in case of an emergency. Tyco s integrated solutions tighten security while maintaining flow and efficiency. Critical Infrastructure enterprises often require the entire range of security options to ensure the safety and security of their assets and the world around them. At the same time, competitive pressure pushes companies to reduce costs and optimise processes. Integrated solutions bring together multiple security and fire protection systems as well as customer processes into one centralised environment. Tyco Integrated Fire & Security has created solutions to address three main areas: Area #1: Integration of multiple fire and security systems within an overall risk management and emergency response plan: // Video surveillance solutions with automated video analytics and data analysis. // Access control with critical facility access and perimeter detection to monitor all entry points and prevent unauthorised access. // Fire detection and public address systems to identify issues early and ensure a coordinated and timely response. // Evacuation systems. // Command & control software solutions. // Message prioritisation and dynamic standard operating procedures to ensure streamlined communication among stakeholders during an emergency, and to create full situational awareness. // Physical and logical systems for digital assets. Area #2: Powerful business intelligence and analytics features to allow process automation, immediate alert notification system and advanced video analytics capabilities: // Integrating multiple systems featuring both new and legacy technologies can turn silos of data into real-time intelligence. By automating video analytics and data analysis, a company is able to improve business processes and quickly coordinate responses to incidents. // In addition, physical and logical systems can be integrated to help tackle cyber terrorism and protect Critical Infrastructure data centres and digital assets. Area #3: Coordinated response to minimise human and economic costs: // In the case of an emergency or major incident, it is vital to have a coordinated response between the organisation concerned and all necessary external agencies. It is equally important to ensure a robust verification process to prevent false alarms, which can be both costly and time intensive. // Being able to respond to the growing needs of Critical Infrastructure protection is Tyco s priority. We have addressed this by expanding and developing our expertise as enterprise security systems integrators. 04 // Solutions for Critical Infrastructure

Single solutions merge for all-around safety Access control, video surveillance and fire protection are at the basis of each security solution. They work as stand-alone solutions or can be combined into one all-around package. Together with additional features they provide fully integrated safety and security conditions on site. Access control Airports often have the highest security needs with their numerous terminals and sites, additional buildings, employees, passengers, aircraft and aprons and access control is a critical starting point for airport security. Tyco offers a powerful and fully integrated access control system specifically designed for airports. The system s flexibility and high quality is key to its suitability for the airport environment. It provides a suite of extended, comprehensive operational applications, seamlessly integrating them with third party external systems. Tyco s access control systems for airports and other demanding facilities prevent unauthorised and provide restricted access to sensitive areas while collecting and analysing traffic intelligence data. They afford enterprise-wide security via sophisticated access control points and a safe environment through video monitoring for employees, visitors, staff, amenities and assets. All information arrives in one command and control centre. Video surveillance solutions The security of both staff and visitors is crucial for facilities such as airport or government complexes. Sensitive areas must be secured, but must also allow access for visitors and staff. In addition, the sprawling nature of multiple campuses can make it difficult to respond to incidents in a timely manner. An integrated access control and video system is Tyco s solution to these challenges. Tyco s portfolio encompasses analogue, IP and hybrid video surveillance systems which can be seamlessly integrated into an existing architecture to help deter and prevent crime and help identify people in sensitive areas. Our customised solutions for power stations, military bases and other comparable facilities provide: // Integration of multiple applications into a single platform // Easily accessible recordings and live view // Video analytics and forensics // Authentication // Reporting tools and dashboards // 24/7 monitoring services // Process support and business intelligence via ERP or CRM integration Fire protection and evacuation systems In the case of mass transportation systems such as underground networks in major cities, accidents can result in serious loss of assets and pose a major threat to the safety of large numbers of people. The fire risk within transportation tunnels is amplified by the need to ensure a quick response to suppress the fire and also ensure a safe mass evacuation. Tyco offers a complete range of fire protection and safety solutions to meet the requirements of any infrastructure. Our solutions can incorporate fire alarm, evacuation systems, emergency communication and fire suppression. In order for an evacuation to be troublefree, companies need to ensure that all people and personnel can quickly and safely move out of the danger zones. Our evacuation systems include a choice of electronic sounder, voice recorder, live microphone transmissions, mass text messages or web alerts. Fire detection is especially necessary in hazardous environments or areas with explosive atmospheres, such as oil and gas refineries. Tyco s special hazard suppression system is intended for highhazard, high-value manufacturing processes or specialty equipment. Solutions for Critical Infrastructure // 05

Tyco's software adds to a reliable solution Combining security hardware is only one part of a good integrated solution. Adding business rules and situational intelligence with scalable software creates an overall solution that leads to complete security. Distributed network architecture More and more, global enterprises and large, multi-site corporations or chains face a common challenge how to bring all of their disparate buildings into an easy to manage security system with a single, unified network architecture. When designing enterprise security solutions, security directors, IT managers and other responsible people focus on the following three priorities: // Maintaining a single database // Providing both central management/ and local site control mitted to each individual site, minimising network bandwidth and allowing global managers to focus on truly global issues. At the same time, centrally located global managers can easily run reports, make changes, and view the status of local sites without having to log in to multiple systems. // Cost Servers and software at each local site can be appropriately sized to meet the specific needs of each site. // Reliability Distributed network architecture is much more tolerant of network and hardware failures than a single server approach. // Protecting the system and facilities against network failures Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) Tyco s Software House C CURE 9000 Enterprise covers all three priorities. Tyco s PSIM software provides situational intelligence to support decision processes. It is a cost effective way to integrate existing legacy systems into a unified, state-of-the-art management and control system. PSIM also helps you maximise the value of the information collected by all of your systems so that you can improve your security, processes and business continuity. One of the main features of distributed network architecture is that decisionmaking and control is decentralised, i.e. distributed out to each site; at the same time, the various sites are networked and synchronised via a central hub. Scalability also makes it possible to incorporate sites of virtually any size. The benefits of distributed network architecture: // Scalability Enterprise solutions that rely on a single server inevitably suffer from performance issues as the enterprise grows and the server is overloaded. Single server solutions are highly susceptible to network failures. // Efficiency Security managers control the flow of data and decision-making. Local data and decisions can be trans- 06 // Solutions for Critical Infrastructure Our PSIM solutions enable risk mitigation, improved security and compliance, while offering a rapid Return on Investment (ROI) and a low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Based on intelligent software, PSIM unifies multiple security systems and connects and correlates vital information into one centralised environment and enables the centralisation of disparate hardware systems. PSIM enables the centralisation of disparate hardware systems, which: // Prevent human errors, follow logic and result in traceable actions by combining and automating situational intelligence // Analyse the imported information from the integrated systems to provide situational intelligence and support decision processes. // Use intelligent Business Logical Engines to automate actions and enforce policies and procedures. // Use a fully audited workflow process to guide operators/users.

3 million customers rely on Tyco's security solutions Our customers entrust us with their security and fire protection needs because they know that we are experienced and completely understand their markets and individual security requirements. Heathrow airport BAA Heathrow Airport is the world's busiest international airport serving over 180 destinations in more than 90 countries. It consists of 5 terminals and covers 1,227 hectares. The new Terminal 2 opened in June 2014, with Terminal 5 in operation since 2008. The 2.5 bn Terminal 2, known as the Queen's Terminal, replaces the very first passenger building opened by the Queen in 1955. Security at Heathrow is in the hands of Tyco. CEM Systems, a Tyco brand, operates in all BAA owned airports and has been successfully securing Heathrow s other terminals for over 18 years. CEM was therefore the logical choice to secure T5 and now T2. Both projects required a proven, fully integrated IP security solution that would not only provide 24/7 critical security, but also aid in the efficient flow of about 30 million passengers each year in each of the terminals. To secure staff, retailers and immigration police, the existing CEM system was extended to secure Terminal 5 and Terminal 2. With this system Tyco offers a powerful and fully integrated access control system specifically designed for airports. Shell refineries With so many locations around the world, it was a challenge for Shell to establish consistency in its technologies and processes. The introduction of a global IT infrastructure led to the use of C CURE 9000, a security management system from the Tyco brand Software House. Shell has 65,000 properties around the world, ranging from offices to refineries to gas and petrol stations. The associated risks vary greatly. Like many companies, Shell is concerned not only with securing these facilities, but also with maximizing every technology investment. The introduction of a global IT infrastructure led Tyco to use its C CURE 9000. One reason this system was selected was Tyco Fire & Security s ability to provide global support. A few sites in particular, including Sakhalin island off Japan and various sites in Nigeria, proved to be very demanding environments that needed a worldwide partner to help with the security. Software House provided the answer. Milan Metro Line 5 Public transportation in Milan and the urban areas surrounding the city is provided by ATM (Azienda Trasporti Milanese) which just launched the Milan Metro Line 5 the first fully automated, driverless urban light railway in Italy. To communicate effectively with passengers each train carriage features two electronic display boards which provide travellers with useful information. In addition, each door is equipped with a calling point and video surveillance cameras. Tyco was contracted to design, install and integrate the video surveillance (CCTV) systems and the emergency public address and alarm systems (PA/GA) deployed throughout the new metro line. The systems were designed for a digital IP-based network to deliver central control of routine and emergency communication within the stations and on trains, while minimising the potential for human error. The solution provides control centre operators with a complete real-time view of all activities and events on the line allowing them to easily manage day-today operations as well as promptly and efficiently respond to any emergency situation. The communications systems are also a central part of a reliable and secure emergency evacuation system. Tyco designed the system architecture with no single point of failure delivering a robust solution that will remain fully functional even if parts of the system become inoperable.
