Live Oak Library Branch Limitations & Library Programming (Board #1) What are the limitations of the current Live Oak Library Branch? What are the opportunities that the library service has in this combined facility? What library programs would you like to see? 1 Programs & Services Space Types & functions Other Ideas Classes for adults Spanish as a second language Laptop work areas Dedicated kids space and child interactives Friends of the Library Store Spanish-language computer classes for adults LEGOS (Simple Machines, Robotics) Tech Center for Teens (see SCPL Library article) Woodworking classes for adults Collaborative Spaces for Discussions & Teamwork More Storage Seamless integration Boys + Girls Club / Shoreline / Library / Swim Ctr / Community Space co-working space Workspaces Book reserves or hold lockers Summer Programming Space Robo Sumo Spanish Storytime (if need determines) Makers Space Teen Booths MEETING #1 COMMENTS

Community Center / Swim Center Limitations & County Parks Programming (Board #2) What are the limitations of the current swim center and community center? What are the opportunities that the swim center and community center have in this combined facility? What recreation & cultural programs would you like to see provided? 2 Programs & Services Space Needs & functions Other Ideas Food Healthy café (tie to teen classes, paid work opportunities, CTE through high school?) Enclose warm water pool / rehab & lessons Small classroom to be reserved for community group meetings Give strong consideration to covering the warm water pool for use in the colder months Child Care Soccer field Keep childcare center & connect with children s library Place for families on Sundays Dog friendly patio Connect with track around soccer field, perhaps mall walking to here Tie Boys & Girls Club w/ Simpkins Sign board on 17 th MEETING #1 COMMENTS

3 Potential Key Partners & Partnership Opportunities (Board #3) What other groups/potential partners are there in the area and beyond? Why these groups? Of the potential partners in the area, are any offering programs that would work well with the library annex? How can the annex provide opportunities and partnerships to other groups around Live Oak? Partners & Partnerships Gray Bears Cabrillo Extension Live Oak School District Salud y Carino Live Oak Community Resources Live Oak Education Foundation State Parks involvement Seamless cultural & physical activity community center / hub / complex Food What (food awareness for teens) 4 21st Century Libraries & Multi-use Buildings (Board #4) What are the benefits of having a multi-use facility? What are the limitations? What opportunities and services would the 21 st century library provide that would benefit the community? Partners & Partnerships Performing arts spaces (could be used in another way during library programming hours) Smaller meeting spaces for different purposes MEETING #1 COMMENTS

Comment Cards Opportunities: Emerging Community Hub in the heart of Live Oak. Strong collaborative, multi-agency partnerships Game room w/ a digital floor & lots of preloaded game options. Floor responds to touch people are game pawns. Obviously expensive, so plan B could be a game room w/ at least one or two changeable, oversized games (checkers, chess, scrabble, etc.) & other games available. Small meeting rooms, Computer & Tech room, more parks & recreation programming, cooking classes, café, maker space, more outdoor spaces Constraints: Space. Funds Need to separate free public spaces (Library side) from paid swim center side. Other Considerations: The Live Oak School District serves over 1,700 children in Live Oak. Work with them to integrate their goals for the future of Live Oak Children (They have four goals: Parent Engagement, 21 st Century Learning, Wellness, and Academic Achievement) MEETING #1 COMMENT CARDS
