PLANNING & DESIGN
1. HOW WE WORK GREENWORKS: OUR PROCESS With more than 150 indoor living walls, the Greenworks team will develop the project from the preliminary phase untill the final stages. We offer help with construction documents, plumbing, lighting design, and landscaping. During a first consultation phase, the client s wishes and needs will be considered in a collaborative effort to explore all the best design possibilities. After this first meeting, Greenworks will develop a preliminary strategy and will supply the first price offer. CUSTOMIZED SOLUTIONS Our projects are mostly personalised in order to find the perfect solution for every interior space. Greenworks can develop special structures, irrigation, and lighting systems for every living wall. Moreover, we strategically select from among hundreds of species of plants in order to obtain as many benefits as possible and the best aesthetic design for the environment. 5

According to that, we will use the best fixing system. 2.2 THE FELT MODULE section_front view_top view TOP In a living wall system the felt replaces the soil and its properties for plants. Our felt layers provide the right amount of moisture and helps to drive the water all the way down throught each planted pockets. The system is made by different density of felt: a capillary surface for the inner section and a viscose felt for the outer layer which helps to drain the water and gives a more attractive feeling. 1_GEOTEXTILE 1. 2.3 IRRIGATION SYSTEM Type A STAND ALONE SYSTEM The stand alone system is the simplest one, used for standard walls where there are not windows or doors. The system works with a pump and it is managed by a timer connected to a plug. Irrigation dripping pipes are mounted in between the felt layers system. A gutter or a water tank on the bottom side of the wall lets the water drain out. The water tank can be mounted beside of the wall according with the interior space needs. Thanks to this, it is possible to create smaller living walls, similar to hanged green screens. 9
2.4 IRRIGATION SYSTEM Type B INTEGRATED SYSTEM With the integrated system the plant walls irrigation is connected to the building plumbing and managed by a timer. This kind of system is used in more complex structures such as when there are zones with different height. A common case is the presence of openings in the wall, such as windows or doors. An irrigation cabinet has to be connected with the plantwall to guarantee the correct amount of water flow. The cabinet has to be easily accessible for maintenance. B A. B. C. 2.5 LIGHTING Plantwalls need light. If there is no lighting already mounted next to the wall, Greenworks will suggest the smartest lighting solution according with the space features. Thanks to our collaboration with lighting designers it is possible to decide among different light sources and scenografic effects with a special consideration for environmental sustainability. 11

3. PLANTS SELECTION Greenworks aims to create a living works of art. For this reason is essential to understand which plants to use. The amount of light and moisture that a plant requires differs greatly from species to species and these are essential aspects we consider before placement. With the collaboration of landscape architects, Greenworks can select among hundreds of species based on characteristics such as colour, texture, pattern and size wisely chosen to let them work together in order to achieve the greatest visual result. 13
MAINTENANCE
4. MAINTENANCE MAINTENANCE: HOW IT WORKS All the plant walls comes with a maintenance contract. A fix mounthly fee guarantees a good condition of the plant wall all- inclusive price. In order to supply the right nutrition Greenworks needs to know some specification of the water in the building. MAINTENANCE: SENSOR AND SOFTWARE We use wireless sensors that works throught Wi-fi and requires access to the Internet. The system gives the gardeners full digital control of your plants. Sensors are measuring moisture, light, temperature and humidity; they are continuously logging data, while waking up every half hour to send it to the cloud. The system includes also alarm for low water, power shut down, etc, so the local gardener can takes action. 15
