Unvented Hot Water Supply Systems Our unvented cylinders make life easier, with a wide range to suit most applications. United Kingdom practice for domestic hot water storage and supply systems was to have an open vent pipe from the hot water storage vessel back to the cistern. Simpler, unvented systems had been developed and used widely throughout the rest of Europe, and indeed the rest of the world. Since the 1985 Building Regulations and the new Model Water Byelaws of 1986, unvented systems have been permitted in the UK. Advantages of an unvented system Hot and cold water supply to all outlets at relatively high pressure. Unvented indirect system Drinking water at all cold water outlets, as every cold water outlet is fed directly from the mains water supply. Balanced hot and cold water supply pressures throughout the system - wider choice of taps and mixers. Good shower flow and force without the need for pumps. No cistern in the loft - no risk of water stagnation (and Legionella), no risk of frost damage to pipework and no noise of filling cisterns. Unvented direct system Lower insurance premiums due to the absence of stored water in the loft. Unvented systems comply with all current building regulations in the UK. Simpler plumbing system - less pipework, less time, less cost.
Unvented Cylinders Installation Flexibility Chaffoteaux & Maury Hydraflo unvented cylinders range from 125 litres to 300 litres in capacity. All are designed for maximum installation flexibility. Hydraflo cylinders up to 200 litres capacity are just 505 mm wide, with all plumbing and electrical connections from the front - ideal for installation in the tightest of spaces. 505 mm up to 200 litres High Quality Construction Hydraflo cylinders are manufactured in high-strength steel with a vitreous enamel coating for performance and durability. All are factory fitted with active magnesium anodes for extra protection. The cylinder tank of Hydraflo unvented cylinders is guaranteed for 5 years. Temperature and Pressure Relief Value All Hydraflo unvented cylinders are equipped with a temperature and pressure relief (T&P) valve. The T&P valve is factory fitted to all of the unvented cylinder ranges, conforming to requirements of BS 7206: 1990 and current Building Regulations. This valve prevents the stored water from exceeding 100 C in the event of the failure of the other safety devices. T&P valves on Hydraflo unvented cylinders are 1 /2 as standard, reducing the need for a 28mm discharge in most situations. Thermostat Hydraflo unvented cylinders are equipped with quality thermostats, which guarantee high performance and safety. Top Quality Heating Elements Hydraflo unvented cylinders are equipped with a manual reset thermal cut-out. This device overrides the main thermostat in the case of failure. Built with first grade materials to guarantee a long life, the elements incorporated in the Hydraflo range are all produced in-house at an ISO 9001 certified factory. Efficient Insulation, Low Power Consumption A high density, CFC free layer of thick polyurethane foam, guarantees Hydraflo unvented cylinders excellent insulation, whilst at the same time drastically cutting power consumption.
