Venezia 130 Milano 130 BALANCED FLUE GAS FIRES These have an efficiency of around 85% and use a special flue liner which uses two concentric pipes for air and exhaust. By using a balanced flue system you can install higher power appliances up to 10Kw, in widths up to 1.3m wide. There are many design styles including tunnel or see through versions that can be used to divide two rooms. All our balanced flue gas fires feature thermostatic remote control, are glass fronted and room sealed so no air vent is required. POWER FLUE GAS FIRES Power flue gas fires have energy efficiency ratings of 90%. These unique fires use a fan system to draw in fresh air and exhaust it back to the outside air. The remarkable feature is the fires only require pipes as small as 54mm in diameter and they can be routed up to 40m from the appliance even under the floor if required. ENERGY EFFICIENCY EXPLAINED At CVO Fire We Take Energy Saving Seriously. In the last few years we have invested in new, modern product designs which will help reduce fuel bills and the impact of emissions on the environment. Choosing the correct energy efficient product for your home can be confusing and we are available to help guide you through this process. Below we have set out a few key points when considering an energy saving heating appliance for your home. More Heat, Less Cost Today, energy efficiency is very important and by choosing the correct appliance for your home you can benefit from more heat for less cost. There are two important factors to consider, the fuel source you will use and the efficiency rating of the appliance you will install. Gas is Best Despite what you read in the news or see on TV, gas is still the cheapest utility to use when considering a secondary heat source for your room, up to 70% cheaper per Kw of heat than burning wood, bioethanol or using electric. If you choose a high efficiency gas appliance you will benefit from the cheapest energy source and high efficiency ratings. Saving Money To save on your utility bills you need to decide how much heat you really require in your room. Choose an appliance which will add comfort to your room and use less fuel at the same time. For example, an existing open flame inset fire with a 6kw input rating, will cost 30p/hour to run but you will only enjoy 1.2kw of heat from the fire as it has an efficiency rating of around 20%. If this fire is swapped for a CVO Glamour inset fire with a 2kw heat input and an efficiency rating of 80%, your running costs are only 10p/hour (66% less) and the heat into the room is 1.6Kw (more heat). You may be comfortable with the heat you receive but are now saving 66% on running costs. If your existing fire does not heat your room enough consider a higher power appliance like a CVO Blade which has a 4.6Kw rating. This will give you 3.7Kw in your room but will still cost 12% less than the old open flame fire to run. By using a glass fronted gas fire you will also make your home heating system more efficient. This is because heat is no longer escaping up the chimney. So your CVO fire can save you money when it is not even switched on. By installing a CVO Blade HE gas fire in my home I reduced my overall gas bills by 46% leading to a saving of 170 between Jan & April 2013 Example Comparison Flueless Gas Fire or Electric Fire? Both have 100% efficiency rating and a 2kw heat input rating however the gas is 5p/Kw and the electric is 15p/Kw. In this instance you will get the same heat in the room but the electric fire will cost you 3 times more per hour. Running Costs and Efficiency To calculate how much a fire will cost to run you need to know the heat input in Kw and the cost per Kw hour of the fuel you will use. This is the cost of using the appliance; it is not related to the efficiency. The efficiency rating of the appliance just states the amount of the fuel you will burn that is given over to your room as heat. The cheapest, low cost energy efficient appliance to use is a gas fire. Which Appliance Style is Best? This depends on your existing fireplace or home design. When buying a new fireplace you will also be looking to keep installation costs to a minimum. If your home has a chimney then the cheapest option is to either block the chimney and use a flueless gas fire with 100% energy efficiency or use the chimney with a HE chimney gas fire. If you have a very large room 100m3 and greater you will require a high Kw appliance and this is where a balanced flue gas fire or power flue appliance would be more suitable. Choose carefully. Do not assume that a high power high efficiency appliance is best. If you over power the appliance you may end up with an expensive ornament that is not used. Things to consider are the size of room, existing heating systems and the level of insulation in the room.
