ARCHITECTS AND TOWN PLANNERS westwaddy ADP Lord Wandsworth College Masterplan Set within landscaped grounds in a countryside setting, Lord Wandsworth College plan significant growth in the coming years. To prepare for this growth we met with stakeholders, including staff and students to understand how an improved teaching and learning offer will impact upon the built environment of the college estate. In parallel we have been working with the local planning authority to pave the way for an outline planning application to endorse the Masterplan, thus enabling future phases of development to proceed without significant planning issues. The project follows on from several similar masterplan schemes prepared for educational clients including Headington School, Oxford Brookes University, Abingdon Prep School and Gloucester University.

This decision to utilise more traditional methods meant that the character of the property could be enriched enormously and is testament to the heritage skills of the team at West Waddy. Harwell Cottage Renovation Then & Now Below shows the condition of the cottage before and how its thatching has been expertly refitted to complete the renovation Upton Methodist Church Redevelopment A semi derelict thatched cottage has been given a new lease of life by West Waddy ADP via a sympathetic restoration of the historic Grade 2 listed structure. Using reclaimed materials and specialist conservation techniques the formerly vacant property in Harwell, Oxfordshire, has been completely transformed and offers a beautiful two bedroomed dwelling. Our specialist skills in conservation enabled a relaxation of standard regulations thus allowing a traditional restoration using historic materials not normally permitted in building regulations. Planning permission has been granted for the redevelopment of Upton Methodist Church. The proposal includes provision of two new high quality homes, space for a community garden and war memorial for the village. This will breathe new life into the site which has been unused since Spring 2017 when the Methodist Church closed on the site. This project engaged us with the Parish Council, who outlined the idea of having the community garden space available as part of the proposal. Through a careful Urban Design process, we were able to include this idea with the two new dwellings, whilst also retaining the existing mature trees on the site. The project showcases our planning and urban design expertise, which creates a more co-ordinated result for our clients.

West Waddy ADP are engaged in many housing developments across the country presently for a variety of house builders, private developers and country estates. Currently we are working on schemes to deliver 3000 dwellings on sites of up to 700 units with planning applications being submitted almost weekly. Our purpose is place-making through design We are proud that for 2016 every single planning application submitted by the practice across all sectors has received approval which is a remarkable 100% success rate. This is especially impressive given that many of the projects we are engaged upon are complex, with new developments, heritage refurbishments and community projects presenting many varying challenges. Our success is due to the commitment and professionalism of our planning and design teams plus the thoroughness of the advice we give to our clients. We also believe that the firm s multi-disciplinary offer is key to our success. Great teamwork plus our Investors in People Gold standard means our staff are always pulling together to achieve results for our clients, often within challenging timeframes. 100% Success in 2016 Planning Applications Our vision is to be an outstanding built environment consultancy Philip Waddy - Partner, West Waddy Stoke Road Farm At Benson in Oxfordshire the practice has recently achieved success for two phases of development comprising 400 dwellings plus community Facilities. Whilst at Long Hanborough a scheme for 169 dwellings plus a doctor s surgery has been approved in West Oxfordshire. A successful planning approval secured by WWADP to convert redundant barns to residential accommodation has led to a further commission to develop detailed design and construction information for tender purposes. The proposals, which include an element of new build, offer four detached residential units. Our particular knowledge and expertise in the conversion of former agricultural buildings has enabled our client to get the best out of this site. Tenders are due to be sought for the work shortly and WWADP will be acting as contract administrator during the build phase.

St. Lukes Railings Conservation Project Alan Divall Promoted to Planning Partner A successful conservation project involving the replacement of lost railings surrounding St Lukes Church, South Kensington has recently been completed by West Waddy ADP. Attending the official opening ceremony were Lord and Lady Cadogan along with the Mayor of Kensington and Chelsea and the leader of the Council. The project involved the sensitive replacement of cast iron railings removed in the 1940 s to assist the war effort. Painstaking research by WWADP resulted in exact replica railing templates being prepared which were then manufactured by Metalcraft Tottenham. Careful heritage techniques to preserve memorial headstones, which had been bedded in concrete along the alignment of the railings, enabled the scheme to progress by retaining the headstones in situ and realigning the railing to avoid clashes. Alan joined West Waddy ADP as a Senior Town Planner in 2011 and has since been responsible for overseeing masterplans and planning applications for schemes of up to 10,000 homes, as well as several significant university and mixed use developments. Alan joined us from Oxfordshire County Council where he worked for nine years, giving him extensive local authority planning experience which is a significant benefit to our success in the private sector. Over the last few years Alan has demonstrated exceptional project management and leadership skills and his promotion to Partner is a logical step widely anticipated and thoroughly deserved. Having contributed to significant consents on multiple campuses for Oxford Brookes University as well as The University of Gloucestershire, Alan is forging a reputation as a specialist in University and Schools Masterplanning an area of anticipated growth for the Practice. With a very buoyant commissions forecast, Alan has been reaching out over the last month to expand and build our team and we look forward to announcing some exciting new appointments in the coming weeks. This growth reflects the upward trend in the scale of developments which the practice is involved in, so expect to see bigger and better things from Alan and the planning team in 2017! Alan is a tireless worker and dedicated team member holding the highest professional standards he has been the driving force behind many of the Practice s most significant achievements over the last few years. Where additional effort has been required he has always made the time to see commitments through.

This academic year kicked off with a live project with clients from the John Radcliffe hospital coming in to deliver their exciting design brief for a Digital Well-being Hub. Students worked in small groups to produce a building fragment on the theme of wellbeing to a tight budget of 60. These building fragments have served to inspire ideas for the students major design project and also helped the client see their future project from fresh and imaginative perspectives.
