Installation Instructions Outdoor Installation Kit Models AD250 & AW250 Part No. 24097 Qualifications for installation of the kit: You must be able to read and understand all instructions provided with the kit. 2. Apply a bead of provided sealant around back of duct flange. See Fig. 2. FIG. 2 You must have sufficient experience to install the kit. You must be able to test the heater for proper operation and place the heater in a continuing safe and normal operating condition. Attach the heater take off flange to outlet of heater using the blower outlet screws. Ensure wide margin of flange is at top. See Fig. 3. FIG. 3 -- Standard screwdriver -- Electric Drill -- 1/4 in. Remove the six blower outlet screws. See Fig. 1. FIG. 1 4. Use two #8 x 1/2 in. self -drilling screws from kit at holes on upper margin of flange. See Fig. 4. FIG. 4 150-24067
5. Apply a heavy bead of sealant all the way around the inside corner of the mounting flange. See Fig. 5. FIG. 5 7. Remove the four cage nuts from corners of heater s case top. Install hole plugs. Press the plugs firmly to lock into hole. See Figs. 8 and 9. FIG. 8 INSIDE CORNER FIG. 9 6. Position duct into mounting flange so dampers lift up and away from blower outlet. Push duct firmly against flange. Attach duct to flange using 3/8 in. sheet metal screws at flange sides. See Figs. 6 and 7. FIG. 6 8. Fold the four tabs of the outdoor top to its underside center. 9. Center the top onto heater. Top slopes away from duct side of heater. Secure top to heater with eight, #8 x 1/2 in. self-drilling screws. (four at front, four at back). See Fig. 11. FIG. 13 FIG. 11 NAIL HOLES SECURE AT HOLES B. Preparing the Building for Heater Installation. 1. Unfold the template provided in the kit. 2. Use the template for determining the proper location of the heater with its mounting brackets, and for cutting out the hole needed for the ducting. 2. Ensure brackets are level and plumb. Stabilize with nails at lower holes. See Fig. 13. Drill pilot holes at upper and lower main support holes. Secure brackets to building with 3/8 in. x 4 in. lag screws and washers. Tighten screws. Check with a level. See Fig. 14. FIG. 14 3. Read and comply with all installation instructions and information given on the template. C. Mounting the Heater and Completion 1. After the duct hole has been cut, and stud locations identified, center the wall brackets at marks made on studs. Position the brackets so the holed mounting flanges are pointing in opposite directions. See Fig. 12. Temporarily attach the brackets with nails at upper holes. See Fig. 13. Lift the heater onto the bracket assembly, and slide the duct assembly through the wall opening. 4. Position the heater so duct is flush with inner wall of building and holes in base align to holes in brackets. 5. Insert spacers between the openings in heater base and holes in brackets. Base holes to be used vary depending on center to center of building studs. Secure heater to brackets using 1 3/4 in. bolts, washers and lock nuts. See Figs. 15 and 16. 3

Use waterproof caulk. If desired, install trim pieces. Fold the duct trim frames around the duct assembly at both sides of wall. Attach with 3/4 in. sheet metal screws. See schematic on following page. 9. Connect the heater to its gas and electrical supplies. Check for gas leaks. 10. Start the heater. Test the installation. Dampers must open and close completely when heater is started and stopped. 11. Refer to schematic for a general view of the kit assembly and for all part numbers. Keep these instructions for future use. 4
