About Sounds of Science Sounds of Science (also called SOFSCI) is a Skype spin-off, inspired by the need for better acoustic environments. Having constructed the Skype Audio Lab our focus turned to enhancing the acoustics of the user s environment to make Skype calls sound even better. Our research found many manufacturers producing expensive sound absorbers that, at their best, do not destroy the acoustic environment, while charging heavily for this. While also being audiophiles in general it was decided to focus on the market as a whole with function as the lead word. The goal is to create good acoustic environments and to do it scientifically creating stuff that actually works and that works well. Tested and Certified Sounds Of Science s sound absorbers are all developed together with, as well as tested and certified by, a leading international research institute and accredited lab in Sweden called SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden (www.sp.se). Friendly to both health and environment Our products are not only friendly to your health but to the environment as well. Our wall absorbers are made out of roughly 80% wood fiber and 20% pure polyester. Absolutely no glass or mineral wool is used. Wood fiber Made out of 100% fresh wood this material is truly remarkable. The fresh wood is crushed into a pulp and then dried and pressed into boards where the only thing holding the fibers together is the resin. The pressure under which these boards are manufactured decides their density, and thus their acoustic properties, and is our most well guarded secret. This is renewable material at its ultimate! Polyester Some of Sounds Of Science sound absorption products are also partly made from 100% pure polyester fiber, bonded using heat instead of traditional chemical binders. Polyester is naturally resistant to fire, moisture, vermin, insects, mould and bacteria, eliminating the need for any chemical additives. As well as being environmentally friendly, our polyester sound absorption material is nontoxic, non-irritating, non-allergenic and safe for anyone coming into contact with it. Since it is 100% polyester fiber it can easily be 100% recycled.
Manufacturing The panels are manufactured and assembled without any use of glue: We do it the old fashioned way by screwing them together by hand. This means that there are no gluey smells or emissions and that it is very easy to disassemble them, should you wish to recycle some day in the future. Size 150x100cm
Sound absorbers with printed exteriors So we have the certified function and an environmentally friendly product, but few things in life are complete without the right design and therefore we have many different exteriors to choose from. Print Two 75x100cm, with one image printed over both Choose from our database of over 23 000 000 photos and images or use your own. The print reproduces color in full detail and with high resolution and is overall very pleasant, warm and matt, and the surface is reflection free. The canvas is finely knitted and is colored through with sublimation technique, which means that the print is heated into the fibers. This is the canvas that is used in the finest and most expensive acoustic prints. We can also print your image over several absorbers, thus creating something very large

SuperChunk Corner (SCC) Sounds Of Science is a well known name in the Hifi and Home Stereo market, delivering products that can take care of both really low and really high frequencies: We know acoustics. On the image you can see our SuperChunk Corner which is a corner mounted solution for the really low frequencies, down to 50 Hz. Just like our wall absorbers it is also tested and certified at SP in Sweden and consists solely of wood fiber. Sound absorbing panel FLY This is a very unique textured cloth designed by Monika Järg and made in small quantities in Estonia for the sole use in her and our products. This means that you will not find this cloth anywhere else in the world: You can get both your wall absorbers and your sofa cushions in the same unique color and material. FLY is made out of 65% cotton and 35% linen. There are five different colors, which can also be combined on one and the same sound absorber. FELTberry A 3-dimensional fun and inspiring exterior made out of 90% natural wool/10% polyester felt upon which dots handmade out of 100% wool are fastened with Velcro. This means you can combine the colors as you wish and also move the dots around, creating your own patterns.
