IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS When using electrical products, especially when children are present, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following: READ ALL INSTRUCTION BEFORE USE DANGER To reduce the risk of electrocution: 1. Always unplug this product immediately after use. 2. Do not use while bathing. 3. Do not place or store this product where it might fall or be pulled into a tub or a sink. 4. Do not place this product in or drop into water or other liquid. 5. Do not reach for this product that has fallen into water. Unplug immediately. WARNING To reduce the risk of burns, electrocution, fire, or injury to persons: 1. This product should never be left unattended when plugged in. 2. Close supervision is necessary when this product is used by, on, or near children/ invalids. 3. Use this product only for its intended use as described in this manual. Do not use attachments not recommended by the manufacturer. 4. Never operate this product if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not working properly, if the pump has been dropped or damaged, or dropped into water. Return the product to a service center for examination and repair. 5. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces. 6. Never block the air openings of this product or place it on a soft surface, such as a bed or couch, where their openings may be blocked. Keep the air opening free of lint, hair, and other similar particles. 7. Never drop or insert any object into any opening or hose. 8. Do not use outdoors or operate where aerosol (spray) products are being used. 9. No modification of this product is allowed. 10. Verify patient weight does not exceed this mattress system s weight capacity 135 kg, before use. 11. Verify the weight capacity of the location placing the air mattress is greater than the total weight of air mattress and patient. 12. Please keep this product away from pins, needles or any sharp object. 13. Do not spray or spill any liquid on the pump unit of this Alternating Air Mattress. If there is any liquid sprayed or spilled on the pump unit, please immediately switch off the power and unplug. Clean the liquid before switching on the power to avoid electrical shock. 2.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS CAUTIONS 1. Portable and mobile RF communications equipment can affect medical electrical equipment. 2. Do not use accessories, transducers, cables, and internal components not provided with the Air Mattress. 3. The Air Mattress should not be used adjacent to or stacked with other equipment and that if adjacent or stacked use is necessary, the system should be observed to verify normal operation in the configuration in which it will be used. 4. When Air Mattress is used in the home, users should set up some prevention or protection for children and pets behavior in order to prevent their behavior/ actions affect the product function s performance and safety. STATEMENTS & SYMBOLS The CE Marking for products and systems ensures compliance with the applicable European laws. These directives regulate a necessary level of protection with respect to safety, health, environment and consumer protection for products sold within the European Union (EU). The GM Mark shows that medical products have been tested and are in compliance with safety standards and the essential requirements of the Medical Device Directive. =135Kg The weight capacity of the Mattress system is 135 kg; please verify patient weight does not exceed this weight capacity before operation. Class II Please keep this product away from moisture, and keep it dry. INTRODUCTION This manual should be used for initial set up of the system and for future reference purposes. GENERAL INFORMATION This system is a high quality and affordable mattress system suitable for bed sore treatment and prevention of pressure ulcers. This system is classified in Class I in the Medical Devices Directive (MDD). This system has been tested and successfully approved with the following standards: EN 55014-1 2006 +A1 2009+ A2 2011 EN 55014-2 1997+A1 + A2 2008 EN 60335-1-1 2011 4.

INTRODUCTION INTENDED USE This product is intended to help and reduce the incidence of pressure ulcers while optimizing patient comfort. It also provides following purposes: Individual home care setting and long-term care of whom suffering from pressure ulcer. Pain management as prescribed by physician. Note: Equipment is not suitable for use in the presence of flammable anesthetic mixture with air or with oxygen or nitrous oxide. CONTRAINDICTION Patient conditions for which the application of pressure relieving therapy on an alternation system is contraindicated are as follows: Cervical or skeleton traction Unstable spinal cord injures PRODUCT FUNCTIONS PUMP UNIT AND AIR MATTRESS SYSTEM MATTRESS The MA-6100 bubble alternating mattress comes with cells made of PVC. 5.

PRODUCT FUNCTIONS PUMP UNIT The functions of the Pump for this Alternating Mattress are described below: Front Rear Front Panel Mounting Bracket Power Cord Air Hose Port FRONT PANEL 3 ALTERNATING STATUS 2 STATIC 1. Power Switch 2. Pressure Adjustment 3. Status Control LOW HIGH PRESSURE ADJUSTMENT ON 1 OFF POWER Power Switch (1) The Power Switch is at the right bottom on the front panel. Turn ON/ OFF the power, the pump will start/ stop operation. Pressure Adjustment (2) Turn the pressure-adust knob to Left (LOW) or to Right (HIGH) to set a comfortable pressure level. Status Control (3) Switch between STATIC/ALTERNATING. 6.

INSTALLATION INSTALLATION Purchaser or caretaker can install this product, if an installation proceeds, install according to the detailed descriptions in this user s manual. Please read this user s manual carefully before installation and use. Unpack the box to inspect for any possible damage which may have occurred during shipment. If there are any damages, please contact your dealer immediately. PUMP UNIT & MATTRESS INSTALLATION 1. Place the Bubble Air Mattress on top of the bed frame or the original bed mattress. Please note for the air pipes are connected at the foot end. Please make sure the air mattress is placed on a firm surface for ultimate alternating effect. To ensure the comfort of the patient, cover Bubble Air Matress with a bed sheet to avoid direct contact and friction 2. Hang the pump unit onto the bed rail (foot-end), and adjust hangers to the best upright position of the pump unit, or place it on a flat surface. 3. Connect the tubes from the air mattress to the pump unit. NOTE: Check and ensure the air hoses are not kinked or tucked under mattress. 4. Plug the power cord into electrical outlet. Make sure the pump unit is suitable for the local power voltage. 7.

INSTALLATION ALTERNATING LOW HIGH PRESSURE ADJUSTMENT ON STATUS POWER STATIC OFF 5. Start up the pump: 1. [Power] switch to ON position 2. [STATUS] switch to ALTERNATING position 3. Adjust the pressure to maximum setting for inflation. The Bubble Air Mattress will start to inflate. OPERATION Always read the user s manual before use. GENERAL This product is designed to provide maximum comfort to patient. It can be operated by anyone after carefully read through the user s manual. Please make sure that you operate this product in a proper way to optimizing its value. Hereunder we provide some general information you should be aware of. For Products: Do not connect the mattress to another pump unit with different specification unless instructed by your authorized ObboMed dealer. It is dangerous to use pump units with different pressure capacity, it may result air cells damage. Do not change any component by yourself. If there is need for replacemet or repair, always contact your authorized ObboMed dealer. For Patients: The patient can lie on the mattress when the Air Mattress is fully inflated and the pressure has been adjusted to a desired level of firmness. A firm surface will make it easier for the patient to transfer or reposition. Make use of the static mode function. To sit a patient up in bed, use the pressure adjustment buttons (High/Low) to increase the pressure so that the patient can be properly supported. Hand Check: Check if pressure is properly adjusted by sliding on hand between the Air Mattress and the original bed mattress (or bed frame if there is no mattress) to feel the patient s buttocks. Users should be able to feel the space in between, and the acceptable range is approximately 25 to 40 mm (1 to 1-1/2 ). 8.

OPERATION Please follow instructions below for detailed operating procedure of each type. ALTERNATING STATIC 1. To turn STATIC Position: [STATUS] switch to STATIC position STATUS LOW HIGH PRESSURE ADJUSTMENT ON OFF POWER ALTERNATING STATIC 2. To turn ALTERNATING Postion: [STATUS] switch to ALTERNATING position STATUS LOW HIGH PRESSURE ADJUSTMENT ON OFF POWER PRESSURE SET-UP User can adjust pressure of air mattress to a desired softness by adjusting the pressure key (LOW/ HIGH). Please consult your physician for a suitable setting. ALTERNATING STATIC STATUS LOW HIGH PRESSURE ADJUSTMENT ON OFF POWER If the pressure is set up to maximum level, but the pressure level remains consistently low, check for any leakage (tubes, or connecting hoses). If necessary, replace any damaged tubes or hoses. Or contact local qualified dealer for repair. 9.

OPERATION CLEANING It is important to follow the cleaning procedures before and after use; otherwise patients and/or doctors may have the possibility of getting infected. Always unplug before cleaning. Do not use hypocarbonate or phenolic based product for cleaning. PUMP UNIT Do not immerse or soak the pump unit in the water. Check for external damage before cleaning and make sure to unplug and move to a working area for cleaning. Wipe the surface of the pump unit with sligntly damp cloth pre-soaked in mild detergent solution. Do not spray any cleaning solotion directly on the surface of the pump unit. Do not allow excess cleaning solution on the surface, damage may occur if liquid leaks inside the pump. Allow surface of the pump to dry thoroughly after cleaning, and proceed to plug and test to see if it runs normally. Avoid long exposure to the sunlight. BUBBLE MATTRESS Suggest cleaning the mattress surface once a week. Wipe the surface of the matress with slightly damp cloth pre-soaked in mild detergent solution before wetting with any liquid disinfectants. Any obvious blood spot should be wet thoroughly with 1:9 Hypochiorite solution (1 part bleach to 9 parts water) and allow dry for at least 10 minutes. Then wipe again with a clean, damp cloth. Allow thoroughly air dry and wipe the back of the mattress with the same procedure. Do not dry the mattress with direct exposure of sunlight. STORAGE 1. Unplug and clean the entire system before storage. 2. Lay the mattress out flat and roll from the head-end towards the foot-end. 3. Store with proper identification tag and in a dry and clean place. 10.

CLEANING MAINTENANCE GENERAL 1. Check main power cord and plug if there are abrasions or excessive wears. 2. Check mattress for signs of wear or damage. Ensure mattress cover and tubes are connected together correctly. 3. Check airflow from the air hose. The airflow should alternate between each connector every half-cycle time. 4. Check the air hoses if there are kinks or breaks. For replacement, please contact your local dealers. FUSE REPLACEMENT 1. Unplug the pump unit when a blown fuse is suspected. 2. Remove the cover of the fuse holder by means of a small screwdriver. 3. Insert a new fuse of the correct rating (spec.: 5*20mm, T250V, 1A), and place the cover of the fuse holder back. Fuse DISPOSAL This product should be handed over to an applicable collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. For more detailed information about the recycling of this product, please contact your local city office, household waste disposal service or the retail store where you purchased this product. 11.

MAINTENANCE TROUBLESHOOTING Problem Power is not ON Incomplete Inflation/ Low pressure No air produced from some air outlets of the air tube connector Mattress seems not alternating Slow air flow Solution Check if the plug is connected to mains. Check if there is any blown fuse. Pressure setting might be inadequate for the patient, adjust pressure to higher level and wait for few minutes. Check if the air tubes are well connected or if there is any twist or leakage. This is normal during alternating or pitch mode. Air outlets take turns to produce air during preset cycle time. Wait for a complete alternating cycle, 12 minutes. Check tubing connection inside mattress are well connected. A dirty filter may decrease the air flow. If the air flow is constantly low, contact your local agent/ dealer to change the filter inside the pump. If your questions can t be answered with above information, it might require a technician to take care the problem. Please contact your local dealer directly. 12.
