DH-2 Rod Pocket Top Fabric Rod/Finial: Estate Wrought Iron Collection Custom rod lengths and a variety of finials, functional brackets, rings and tie backs are available in drapery hardware. Most of the rod and finial selections are made from natural materials such as recyled glass, metal, ceramics and plantation grown wood. Low V.O.C. water-based paints and gel stains are used in the finishing process. Product packaging uses post-consumer recycled cardboard. No plastics are used. Finishes for metals include: Pewter, Rustica, Oil Rubbed Bronze, Matte Black, Nickel, and Burnished Copper. Colors for wood include: Mahogany, White, and Leather Accessories available include: Brackets (including inside mount brackets, extension brackets and magnetic brackets), tie backs, and eyelet rings. Features of Quality Construction The one-piece face construction is used for cornices up to 84 in width. s over 84 in width are manufactured with multiple pieces. Finishes are applied by the same flowcoating equipment used on our ForestView and GrandView wood blind slats ensuring superior quality and the best color match possible. s use the same species of wood (Basswood) as our wood blinds. The unique design of the cornice is a far better fit in today s modern American home decor. Riverwalk The 5 high Riverwalk cornice is an excellent topper for any of our window covering products. Riverwalk is designed to accommodate an insert. At 5 high, the cornice gives you the flexibility to mix and match as a valance when wood blinds are your window covering of choice. Adaptable & Easy to Order Order your cornice with the desired window covering. All you need for the order is the window measurement and the cornice type. We make all of the necessary calculations and adjustments for you. The only extra information required is sill depth, if it is an inside mount. Each installation page provides you with a chart showing the cornice returns and dust cap sizes required for a perfect fit. Simple Installation Inside-mount installations on all other products, except 2 blinds, have a dust cap that extends into the window opening. Similar to an inside-mount vertical valance installation. Just place the Riverwalk cornice dust cover into the window sill, push dust coverto the far back edge of the sill and mount it by drilling screws into the dust cover and then directly up into the top of the window sill. Proceed with the installation of the window covering product. Outside-mount installations on all other products use a color-matched mounting strip that is attached to the wall, then the cornice is attached to the mounting strip. Outsidemount installations are recommended when windows have wood trim. Inside corners use our block system that we developed to make installation simple. We ship all inside corner systems in two pieces that are easily assembled on the job site by placing two (2) screws into predrilled holes. Easy to Install When used with any of our 2 horizontal blinds, our Riverwalk cornice uses the same clip system as our GrandView wood blind valance. Warranty The Riverwalk cornice carries a 10-year limited warranty. You must also measure the sill depth, which is the distance from the front edge of the sill to the back edge. If the window has trim molding, measure the sill depth from the back edge of the sill to the front edge of the molding. Outside Mount Measuring and Installation For outside-mount applications, measure the exact window opening. If molding is present around the window, measure from the outer edge of molding on one side to the outer edge of molding on the opposite side. Installation for outside-mount applications is simple. To speed installation, a pre-drilled 2 high color-coordinated mounting strip slightly narrower than the inside width of the cornice is included. STEP 1: Install the mounting strip using the screws provided. STEP 2: Install the product onto the mounting strip using standard installation screws provided with the product. Make sure when installing the product that you allow 1/4 clearance between the top of the mounting strip and the product. STEP 3: Place the cornice over the product allowing the back edge of the dust cover to rest on top of the mounting strip. Insert the screws provided into the pre-drilled holes in the dust cover and attach the cornice to the mounting strip. DO NOT USE ANGLE IRONS. Outside Mount over Inside Mounted Product Measuring and Installation For inside-mount applications where an outside mounted cornice is desired, measure the exact window opening. If molding is present around the window, measure from the outer edge of molding on one side to the outer edge of the molding on the opposite side. Installation for an outside-mounted cornice over an inside-mounted product is simple. (You may install the cornice using the existing molding surrounding the window opening. If you choose this type of installation, please skip to the last paragraph on this page.) To simplify installation, a pre-drilled, 1 high color-coordinated mounting strip the exact size of the window opening is provided. STEP 1: Install the mounting strip flush with the top of the window sill, using the screws provided. STEP 2: Place the cornice over the mounting strip so that the back edge of the dust cover and the returns touch the wall. STEP 3: Insert the screws provided into the pre-drilled holes in the dust cover and attach the cornice to the mounting strip. DO NOT USE ANGLE IRONS If you plan to install the cornice using the window molding, set the cornice over the molding so that the back edge of the dust cover and the returns touch the wall. Insert the screws provided into the pre-drilled holes in the dust cover and attach the cornice to the molding. (The window molding must be at least 1/2 thick to use this installation method.) The installation method for an insidemounted cornice is determined by the product type. If the product is a two-inch blind, first install the product, then install the cornice using the standard valance clips provided. The factory has already attached the valance receiver clips to the back of the cornice. (The cornice installs the same way a standard valance does.) A dust cover is only available for inside mounted cornices installed with two-inch blinds if the return size is greater than 3/4. For all other products, the cornice is installed first. STEP 1: Insert the screws provided into the pre-drilled holes in the dust cap and attach to the upper sill. Make sure the dust cap is fully inserted into the opening and the cornice returns are touching the exterior wall face. STEP 2: Install the product underneath the cornice using the standard installation method for that product. Based on your sill depth measurement and the product selected, we have adjusted the returns and dust cap dimensions to allow enough clearance for this to be easily accomplished. - OB Standard The chart to the right indicates the minimum return size that will provide enough clearance for the product you select to be covered with a cornice. You may increase the size of the returns as long as you increase the dust cap measurement by the same amount. All OB cornices are attached over the mounting strip the product is installed to. DO NOT USE ANGLE IRONS!
DH-10 Measuring and Installation - OB over IB Specifications and Specialty This is the recommended method for IB Applications products where a cornice is to be used. It is easier to install than the true IB product application. The minimum return size is 3/4 for type 1 and 1-1/2 for type 2 through 5. All OB over IB cornices are attached over the mounting strip. DO NOT USE ANGLE IRONS! Return size (minimum return size for this application is 3/4 for type 1 and 1-1/2 for type 2 through 5. The dust cover and returns must be at least this depth to provide enough clearance to fit over the mounting strip for type 1. For types 2-5, the corner pieces extend 1/2 from the back of the cornice.) You may increase the size of the returns as long as you increase the dust cap measurement by the same amount. When the product being covered by the cornice is not totally recessed in the opening but rather extends into the room, the minimum return size and dust cap must be increased proportionately by the same amount of this extension. (Example: The product extends into the room by 1/2. The return size and dust cap must be increased by the same amount for a total return and dust cap size of 1 1/4 for type 1. ) The one drawback to using this method is that the coverage over the actual product is approximately 3 1/2 rather than the 5 height of the cornice because that the cornice itself extends 1 1/2 above the actual window opening. For standard height windows this will not cause a problem. However, looking up at a tall window, it becomes easy to see the product s headrail underneath the cornice. - IB When ordering an inside mount cornice, the minimum return and dust cap size are based on the product type and sill depth. The minimum sill depth varies from 11/2 to 2-5/8, depending on the product type selected. When mounting over 2 or 2-1/2 blinds it is not recommended you make the returns longer as the are installed using the standard 2 valance and receiver clip. Customer Service can advise on the return and dust cap size specifications. DO NOT USE ANGLE IRONS! Standard OB (Type 1) - Also used for OB installation over IB installed product. Maximum width is 84. Receiver Clip Valance Clip can be made without returns. Ends will be a straight cut. Dust cap is made from 3/16 thick hardwood veneer. The mounting strip for an OB cornice is 2 high, 5/8 thick, and is colormatched hardwood. The mounting strip for an OB cornice over an IB product is 1 high, 5/8 thick, and is color-matched hardwood. The dust cap is manufactured 1/8 narrower than the window opening. Installation for a standard IB cornice for all products (excluding 2 and 2-1/2 blinds) is accomplished by attaching the dust cover to the upper window sill with screws. s over 90 in width that are not delivered by our truck system, may be shipped in 2 pieces and must be assembled on the job site. blocks are used on Types 2 thru 5 and allow for a maximum cornice width of 144. Return measurement Ordered width plus 2-1/2 for Type 1, 3-1/2 for Types 2 through 5 13/16 thickness There is 2-1/2 added to every Type 1 cornice width, and 3-1/2 to every cornice width for Types 2 through 5 to allow for the returns/corners and necessary product clearances. This is called face width. Standard IB cornice for 2 and 2-1/2 blinds installs with our standard valance clip and receiver system. Return measurements are determined from the inside measurement of the cornice face to the back edge of the return. Corner Application Inside corner applications measures both cornices from the wall out to the opposite end where each cornice will stop. You must deduct the dust cap size plus 1 for the cornice face from each cornice. This will give you the necessary clearances for the cornice corner application to fit properly. Dust Cap
