Bledington enjoys an active community spirit and is home to the highly regarded Kings Head Inn, a village hall, parish church and primary school (awarded Outstanding by Ofsted in 2011). The annual Bledington Music Festival takes place over three summer evenings in June and features top class performers from all over the World. The Festival has grown every year since it was established in 2000. The towns of Stow-on-the-Wold and Chipping Norton have excellent shopping, recreational and business facilities, and the renowned Daylesford Organic Farm Shop & Spa is only five minutes away. The village shop in the neighbouring village of Kingham serves every day requirements. Soho Farmhouse (13 miles) was opened in 2015 as a home from home for people working in the creative fields. Local membership provides access to the club spaces, restaurants and bars, the gym, pool and Cowshed spa. Cheltenham and Oxford both provide more extensive shopping, leisure and cultural amenities as well as excellent independent and state schools.

Communication links are excellent with good access to the M5 (Junctions 10, 11 and 11a) leading to the West Country and the M40 (Junctions, 8, 9, 10 & 11) providing access to London, Heathrow Airport and the Midlands. There are regular train services to London Paddington from Moreton-in-Marsh and nearby Kingham. Sporting and recreational facilities are well catered for in the area with golf courses at Lyneham, Chipping Norton and Naunton Downs. Hunting with the Heythrop and North Cotswold Hunts. National Hunt Racing is at Cheltenham, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick and Worcester. The surrounding countryside is particularly beautiful with traditional Cotswold villages, rural walks, interesting churches and important gardens at Hidcote and Kiftsgate. THE THATCHED COTTAGE The Thatched Cottage is Grade II Listed as being of Special Architectural or Historic Interest and is attached to Rose Cottage. The Thatched Cottage possibly dates from the seventeenth century and is built of coursed, squared and dressed limestone with brick stacks. The property has a projecting bread oven and is partly thatched with a most pleasing façade with eyebrow dormer, casement and mullioned windows. The property has been enlarged to create the kitchen and bathroom with bedroom above. Internally the property retains the period features expected of a property of this type and era including a fine inglenook fireplace, a wealth of exposed timbers and an impressive studded oak front door. The property is offered in excellent condition having been beautifully renovated and carefully maintained by the present owner. Most recently the thatch to the front elevation and the ridge has been replaced and the rear elevation has been repaired by a master thatcher. The gardens are charming and incorporate a terrace adjacent to the rear of the property with steps up to the lawned area with established trees and shrubs to the boundaries, creating a private setting for outside summer dining. The gardens adjoin a meadow providing an idyllic outlook. To the front of the property and set behind an ancient upright flagstone wall is a raised border planted with climbing roses, lavender and topiary yew.

The Old Reading Room The accompanying floor plans illustrate the layout of the accommodation but in brief the principal aspects of the accommodation are as follows. Welcoming entrance hall with exposed stone wall and range of fitted housekeeping cupboards. Charming sitting/dining room with most impressive fireplace with bread oven and pretty window seats. With potential to create en suite facilities. Beautifully presented second bedroom with an aspect over the gardens. THE OLD READING ROOM Situated across the drive is The Old Reading Room which is currently generating a substantial income from holiday lets. Alternatively this property could be used for shorthold lets or as guest accommodation. The Old Reading Room is built partly of local stone and is part rendered with timber casement windows and doors, all under a tiled roof. Impressive galleried open plan living room with open fireplace, vaulted ceiling, tiled floor and staircase to first floor.
