ABOUT CALEX Behind the brand OUR HISTORY Electro Cirkel B.V. was founded in 1970 by the two brothers, Van Soelen, who began by selling electro-technical products to ship chandlers, ship producers and offshore companies. In 1987, California Export (CALEX), situated in the Dutch province of Utrecht, was merged with Electro Cirkel, and eventually moved from Utrecht to Holland s city of Schiedam. It was here that the custom-made navigation lamps were produced for the marine industry. By 1994, Electro Cirkel took over another factory in Latvia with a capacity of 25 million units per year. In 1997 this factory was sold again to cooperate with the adoption of with two more factories in Romania, whom had a capacity of 200 million units a year. Finally, in the year 2000, production was transferred to the Far East, these multiple partnerships all in production exclusively Electro Cirkel lamps, resulting in Electro Cirkel B.V. to have expanded to become one of the biggest producers of navigation lamps worldwide. Being the family-run business Electro Cirkel is, in 2012, brother and sister, Rudolf and Angeniek van Soelen, took over the shares of their cousins and father and the company was moved to its now current location in Rotterdam, Holland. It has been under their prestige, that the core business has since moved its focus more to consumer lighting. From this unique position, with stocks located in two locations in Rotterdam - the Lyonstraat (with 18.000 m2 warehouse) and the Van Riemsdijkweg (13 metre high, 3.000 m2 warehouse with 7.000 pallet places), Electro Cirkel are able to provide directly for both smaller and larger orders. With a distribution network throughout 65 countries in and outside of Europe, specialized in purchasing, sales, a wide range of products and a close cooperation with the biggest freight forwarders, Electro Cirkel serve its customers worldwide. ABOUT CALEX CALEX ON TOUR Since 2008, Calex has been a leading exhibitor of an extensive of national and international fairs, including the largest European exhibition of its kind: Frankfurt s Light & Building Fair held every second year in Frankfurt, Germany. To ensure the excellence of its products, Electro Cirkel works closely with their producers to monitor and determine production quality, employing two testing facilities in both Holland and China with identical, sophisticated equipment for testing directional and non-directional lamps, LED panels, and fluorescent lights and tubes. Through a series of thorough tests, Electro Cirkel make acute decisions as to which lamps are to be included in their range. This gained knowledge and insight is continuously communicated between Electro Cirkel and its producers, enabling outstanding quality and evergrowing improvements. With its experience and sales efficiency, Electro Cirkel customers can expect an answer to any queries within the same day. DEVELOPMENTS IN THE FIELD OF LEGISLATION RELATING TO ENERGY From September the 1st, 2018, Electro Cirkel s next important phase will begin, addressing the necessary requirements for better eco-design under the Regulation 244/2009 of non-directional household lamps. Within this phase, no changes will be made to non-clear lamps but bright lights, on the other hand, will need to be more energy efficient, and Electro Cirkel s goal will be to achieve this maximum energy efficiency. WARRANTY Each lamp by Electro Cirkel carries an average of hours in the lamp will last. All of its lamps are tested to ensure this requirement is met. In the unlikely case of fault, Electro Cirkel offers a warranty on all of their lamps for up to 2 years. In the lamp industry, it is a general assumption that a lamp in a domestic environment will burn for an average of 3 hours per day. For instance, a halogen lamp with a life of 2000 hours is expected to last 1.83 years (2000 hours / 3 hours = 666.67 days; 666.67 days / 365 days = 1.83 years, or approximately 22 months).
