MACERATORS Macerators are an important industrial tool used for the processing and treatment of industrial solid wastes comprising of wood, textile, plastics, paper, rubber, bones and skin. With a capacity to reduce solid wastes into finer particles of grain size of 2 up to 3.5 mm and fibrous size of up to 1.5 cm approximately. Macerators feature a wide range of functions starting from preparation, line chopping mixing, processing and treatment of waste products in wide range of industrial applications. Efficiently engineered to avoid clogging of pipes, fittings and pumps, macerators also help in saving the cost of pipe fittings by opting smaller diameter against the predetermined flow. Block macerators are supplied in two series: PMT Series PMT series are designed for installation on the side of a tank or basin. This unit can be mounted vertically or horizontally. In this, the motor is directly attached to macerator chamber to form a single unit. Inside the Macerator, the impeller with replaceable cutting edges, rotates inside the stationary cutting ring, which macerate the particles to smaller size. Macerators of this design have a delivery head of 3 m and can thus return the chopped solids to the main flow under their own power. Flange positions Suction Flange : Axial or vertical downwards o Delivery Flange : Normally radial upwards. Adjustable by 45 each as per hole arrangement Flange Design Connection dimensions as per DIN Standard PMI Series PMI Series are designed for installation in the piping. This unit must be installed vertically. In this, the motor is directly attached to macerator chamber to form a single unit. Inside the Macerator, the impeller with replaceable cutting edges, rotates inside the stationary cutting ring, which macerate the particles to smaller size. For this model either the helical pump or progressive cavity pump must be installed to suck the solids through the macerator and pump them into the plant for further treatment. Flange positions Suction & Delivery Flange : Opposite, inline and same Dimension Flange Design Connection dimensions as per DIN Standard Connections The following connections are always provided: PMT Series : S1 external sealing fluid for shaft seal. 7
Technology Mechanical Seal Bearing / Lubrication Motor Anti-Swirl Fins Cutter Ring Tri Hammer Impeller THE INSIDE PICTURE Macerators are an important industrial tool used for the processing and treatment of industrial solid wastes comprising of wood, textile, plastics, paper, rubber, bones and skin. Mechanical seal with highly wear resistant hard metal seal rings and rubber bellows secondary gasket. The entire seal assembly is either oil lubricated or water lubricated with external circulation unit. Materials: Rotary seal ring Stationary seal ring Bellows O-ring Metal parts silicon carbide silicon carbide acrylonitrile-butadiene rubbers (NBR) acrylonitrile-butadiene rubbers (NBR) stainless steel On the drive side by a reinforced cylinder roller bearing as per DIN 5412 which is greased for its service life. On the end side by a grooved ball bearing as per DIN 625. Motors developed and manufactured are standard. Motors are surface cooled TEFC motor, suitable for continuous and intermittent application. Available in both F and H class insulation. Inlet chamber contains 2 large anti-swirl fins to stop 'spinning' of textiles and to direct solids in suspension into optimum flow path for maceration through impeller. Investment casted alloy steel (1.2601) with optimum combination of both hardness and resilience - positively clamped in position by inlet chamber, hardened and internally ground for maximum cutting efficiency. High corrosion resistant investment casted impeller with replaceable cutting inserts (Complete impeller 1.4312 with stellite segments). There are three hammers with more blows per revolution better balanced rotation. Impellers having pusher blades to avoid clogging in the down stream side. 8

Installation Drawing INSTALLATION PMT TANK STONE & METAL SEPARATOR VALVE MACERATOR COOLANT CIRCULATION PMI TANK STONE & METAL SEPARATOR COOLANT CIRCULATION HELICAL PUMP VALVE MACERATOR Control Panel Features: 1. Control of the seal water supply unit for the shaft sealing 2. Automatic change of the sense of rotation with every start in order to increase the service life of the cutting tools or after 3. Reaction of the overload protection to prevent clogging 4. Control of the safety device of a stand by pump to be put in operation if necessary Functional characteristic: The Macerator control is activated through a Start / Stop switch. The solenoid valve of the seal water unit opens after the release signal (e.g. external pressure or level switch or push button control) and mechanical seal is flushed with sealing liquid. Both Macerator and pump switches on automatically after 30 sec. Once it is switched off, it stops working immediately while seal water unit shuts off with a 30 sec delay. Every sense of rotation of the Macerator is altered automatically with every new start. To prevent clogging, the Macerator control monitors the motor current. When the current limit is exceeded, the contactors are activated automatically and sense of rotation is changed. If the current remains above the limit, the sense of rotation changes again. This procedure will be repeated up to 4 times. If the current is still above the limit, both Macerator and pump switches off automatically. 12
