J+G Tiles in incinerators - JuSyS - Standard / JuSyS - Air - Advantages of a rear-ventilated System - Experience with JuSyS - Air History of Air protected superheater projects - ZAS Schwandorf - MVA Rosenheim - MVA Stuttgart Conclusion
J+G is successfully operating in new projects worldwide, especially with engineering & project management. and continuously family owned from 1936 on. J+G is growing with lasting effect in the European market in the field of service & maintenance. Turnover > 60 Mio. EUR p.a. total J+G Group Staff Certificates > 220 Employees in the J+G Group approx. 40 Engineers approx. 85 Supervisors & skilled Refractory Workers + approx. 70 skilled Refractory Workers in CH/D/F/A Quality Management DIN EN ISO 9001 since 1995 SCC** (Health Safety & Environment Certificate for Contractors) since 2000
Necessary Properties of any J+G Tile Material High thermal Conductivity for a very good heat transfer through the tile Very good Thermo Shock Resistance (TSR) Against Crackformation under practical loads 18-25 W/mK >100 Shocks DIN 51068 Low thermal Expansion against thermal stress and strain between tube wall and the tile 0,47 mm/m*100k Very good Oxidationresistance Against growing in oxidizing condition <1,3 Vol. % (@500h; 1000 C) ASTM C 863
Is a closed System which by design does not have any openings into the Boiler. Does effectively protect the tube walls from corrosion by means of sealing air in a gap between the tiles and steel. Does mainly transport the heat by radiation to the tube wall. Is flexible connected to the wall, because it is installed without any mortar on the tube wall. Is a patented, proven system by Jünger + Gräter for more then 15 years.
Tube Wall JuSyS - Air Tile No direct contact of tiles and the tube wall Anchors in 1.4828 or Inconel Air Gap Welded holder and retainer Small openings like joints and fissures do not corrupt the system Allows the easy transversal transfer of sealing air The system allows online water cleaning Air Box
Demand of air: appr. 10 Nm³/h, m² Sealing Air pressure: appr. 8-22 mbar Resulting pressure in the gap: appr. 2-12 mbar above combustion Shematic Air distribution

Partners: Martin (former Alstom) / ZMS Total Area: app. 7 m² Position: Front wall Year of start up: 2000 Steam - Parameter: T = 470 C Duration of the test: 22.000 h

The design process parameters could be well achieved The quality of the air supply to the system is of outstanding importance A contact between ceramic and superheater tubes has to be avoided very strictly The temperaturloss between the superheater tubes and the tube wall can not be ignored

Temperature of the radiant-superheater of app. 400-450 C Resulting steam pressure 40 bar Diameter of the superheater tubes 38 mm Length of app. 4.200 mm Width of app. 1.400 mm 5 tube coils are freely hanging into the boiler (12,3m² ceramic surface)
The heatflux through the system is comparable to JuSyS Air. The refractory can independently move to the tubes The special shapes are connected to the cooled steam tubes instead of the uncooled air tubes to avoid excessive expansion Every tube set (steam / air / Steam) is individually protected Improvement of heating surface Reducing the risk of vibration The connection of the special shapes is made by the well experienced JuSyS Air concept. The air distribution is made with a protected manifold main to the farest possible point

After 4,000 operating hours After 8,000 operating hours After 12,000 operating hours Fouling pattern: sandy deposits slightly encrusted deposits stick loosely to surface
Temperature: 320 C Temperature: 420 C Temperature: 450 C No corrosion after 12.000 operational hours
No corrosion after 16.000 operational hours
The heatflux through the system is comparable to JuSyS Air. The refractory behaves like a JuSyS Air wall The connection of the special shapes is made by the well experienced JuSyS Air concept. The air distribution is made with manifold mains in vertical direction

Year of comissioning 2014 Temperature of the radiantsuperheater of app. 480-490 C Diameter of superheater tubes 32 mm Length of appr. 11.000 mm Width of appr. 1.440 mm 32 m² ceramic surface Temperature difference compared to a standard patch solution only 5K
