Introduction 1 Introduction 1.1 Intended use 1.2 About this manual The Home Care Phone NEO IP/GSM is a unit designed for the purpose of providing security and a sense of comfort and safety for the user. The unit is primarily designed for people living in their own apartments or homes. NEO IP The main unit communicates over Internet (IP) and the trigger communicates over radio, 869 MHz (Optionally 868 MHz). Optionally the main unit can be equipped with a GSM module to act as a communications backup and then communicates over the GSM (cellular) network. NEO GSM The main unit communicates over the GSM (cellular) network and the trigger communicates over radio, 869 MHz (Optionally 868 MHz). This document is a combined advanced user and technical manual. In all sections where configurable functions are described, there is an instruction of how to make the programming. The programming is done either locally with a Neat Programming Unit (NPU) connected to a computer or over the network/internet. Values in lists, tables and pictures are default values, unless stated otherwise. 1.3 The main unit NEO IP/GSM 1.3.1 Overview Home care phone NEO IP/GSM has the appearance as in the picture below. The unit has been designed to make it as simple as possible to handle with maximum safety. The size of the plastic cover is 190 mm x 180 mm x 32 mm. Introduction NEO IP/GSM Technical Handbook The emblem differs on the the two models Blue emblem - NEO IP or NEO IP with GSM backup. Black emblem - NEO GSM. 1.3.2 Connectors There are 4 connectors located in two wells at the bottom side. All connectors are of modular (western) type. Connectors on the NEO IP/GSM 1.3.3 Power switch 1.3.4 Cable channels 1.3.5 Key holes By putting the switch in the bottom of the unit in position I, the unit is turned ON. When turned on, the unit starts up, initiates and goes into normal mode, i.e. it is ready to receive and transmit alarms. The startup lasts about 10 seconds and is finished when the red Alarm button is lit steadily. Please note that it isn t enough to take the AC plug out, to shut off the unit. The unit will then use the backup battery as power source. To turn off set the switch to 0. At the bottom side there are five small cable channels to fix the cables. Use these for a nice and tidy installation. There are three key holes for wall mounting of the unit. There are three possibilities to mount the unit. Use the two holes at the sides and hang the unit with the buttons down Use the two holes at the sides and hang the unit with the buttons up Let the unit hang in the middle hole and use the others for steering. The buttons have to be upwards. The holes are designed to be used together with screws heads with a diameter of 7-8 mm. The screw head shall be approximately 4 mm out of the wall for best fit. 8 of 56

Introduction 1.3.6 Battery lid/sim card slot The battery lid is opened by removing the screw. Under the lid there is a battery compartment for the backup battery. If the battery has to be replaced, please note that the battery have to be of correct type and must be delivered from NEAT Electronics. The replacement should only be done by trained personnel. On the NEO GSM or the NEO IP with GSM, the battery compartement also houses the SIM card slot. To insert the SIM card: 1. Open the battery lid with a small Philips Head screwdriver. 2. Remove the battery. 3. Insert the SIM card according to the picture on the label. 4. Replace the battery. 5. Replace the battery lid. Carefully tighten the screw, do not use force or the threads will break! 1.3.7 AC adaptor The AC adaptor shall be installed in an ordinary AC mains outlet, European type. The voltage in the outlet shall between 100 VAC and 240 VAC. Use only the adaptor specified by NEAT Electronics. Connect the adaptor to the outlet marked AC in the bottom well of the NEO IP/ GSM, see section 1.3.1 above. 1.3.8 Ethernet cable The accompanying Ethernet cable has a length of 3 m. but any CAT 5 Ethernet cable is usable. Connect the Ethernet cable to the outlet marked IP in the right bottom well of the NEO IP/GSM. The other end of the cable is normally connected to an network via a hub/switch or directly to the Ethernet connector in the wall. 9 of 56

Introduction NEO IP/GSM Technical Handbook 1.4 Portable trigger ATOM 1.4.1 Overview The portable trigger ATOM has the appearance as in the picture below. Portable trigger ATOM bottom view 1.4.2 Use ATOM with the necklace Use ATOM with the bracelet The ATOM is delivered with an elastic bracelet. To use the bracelet, simply insert it into the holders on the bottom of the ATOM. Please note to place the lock in the correct way. If holding the ATOM upside down, the lock seam close to the lock shall be pointing in your direction/be visible. The ATOM is delivered with a necklace and a plastic necklace lock. To use the necklace, please insert a loop of the necklace into one of the holders on the bottom of the ATOM. To lock the necklace into place, just insert the small plastic necklace lock into the holder. Picture 5. ATOM accessories 10 of 56

Operating the unit 2 Operating the unit This chapter is intended for using the NEO IP/GSM without the NPU, i.e. the functions described are how to use the NEO IP/GSM with the buttons etc. All functions are also programmable with the NPU and Programmer software and is indicated with a computer icon to the left of the paragraph. 2.1 The buttons and indicators 2.1.1 Alarm button 2.1.2 Reset button 2.1.3 Extra button 2.1.4 The front LEDs The red Alarm button is illuminated (the alarm LED) and is used for Send a user alarm The green Reset button can perform different functions: Reset an initiated alarm call, see 2.2.2 Resetting an alarm. Initiate a poll to the NEAT Web Service, see 8.4.3 Network read from NEO IP/ GSM. Perform a GSM Network quality test, see 2.2.8 Testing the quality of the GSM network. Initiate a Radio Coverage Test, see 2.2.7 Radio coverage test. The white Extra button can perform many different functions: Adjust the volume of loudspeaker, see 2.2.3 Volume control. Program radio transmitters, see 2.2.4 Connecting radio equipment. Presence and Ready indication, see 5.6 Presence and Ready indication. Sending a special alarm with optional alarm type, e.g. a service call or to a relative. The LEDs in the front of the unit indicates visually if there is a problem in the operation of the unit. Buttons and indicators on home care phone NEO IP 2.2.1 Sending an alarm A user alarm can be activated by pressing the red Alarm button on the main unit or by pressing the red button on the portable trigger ATOM. For further information about the behaviour after activating an alarm, see 8.10 Timers and indications tab on page 42. Activating and deactivating the red Alarm button, see Front button on page 39. 2.2.2 Resetting an alarm Before making a call NEO IP/GSM is waiting a number of seconds to enable the user to cancel or reset the alarm. If the green Reset button is pressed during this period, the alarm will be interrupted. A number of tones will indicate that this happens, the NEO IP/GSM returns to normal operation, meaning it will be ready to send a new alarm. 12 of 56

Operating the unit 2.2.3 Volume control Both the volume level of the conversation (speaker level) and of the beeps can be adjusted. Conversation level adjustment To adjust the volume level of the conversation, press and hold the white Extra button. Immediatyely when pressing the grey button, it will beep shortly. Keep pressing and the unit will beep according to the table below after four seconds. Beep level adjustment To adjust the level of the beeps in the speaker, first press and hold the white Extra button, then after the first initial beep, also simoultaneously press the green Reset button. The volume is adjusted in the following way: The unit will beep one, two or three times, at different volume. Between every step there is a pause of 2 seconds. When the user releases the button, the unit will keep the current level, store it into the memory, confirm with a signal and return to normal operation. Volume control stepping Adjusting volume control in speaker, see Signal volume on page 44. 2.2.4 Connecting radio equipment Adding a additional radio transmitter to the home care phone There can be eight radio transmitters connected to the NEO IP/GSM at the same time. Every transmitter is programmed into NEO IP/GSM at a position 1-8. The home care phone NEO IP/GSM is delivered together with a portable trigger ATOM. This radio transmitter is normally already connected to NEO IP/GSM at position 1. If a new ATOM or another radio equipment is to be connected to NEO IP/GSM, please follow the instructions below. Press and hold the white Extra button at the same time as the unit is switched on: When the unit is switched on and the start-up flashing has stopped (which may take 10 seconds or more) there is a beep in the speaker. This indicates that the first radio position is active. If keeping the white Extra button pressed down, after a few seconds there will sound two beeps, which means that the second position is active. After another two seconds, three beeps will sound, meaning the third position is active and so forth. Release the button when there is the same number of beeps as the position you want to program. After the button is released, activate the transmitter. There will now sound an acknowledgement as below and the unit will be ready for radio coverage test, see 2.2.7 Radio coverage test on page 15. 13 of 56

The unit will make a sound and return to normal operation. If no transmitter or button is pressed within 20 seconds from the release of the white Extra button, the unit will make a sound and automatically return to normal operation. Erase a radio transmitter from NEO IP/GSM If the white Extra button is pressed again, after releasing the Extra button as described above, instead of activating the transmitter, the currently stored radio transmitter will be erased. The unit makes a sound and returns to normal operation. Adding/deleting radio transmitters, see 8.7 Alarm sources tab on page 37. 2.2.5 Presence and Ready indication It is possible to record when and for how long time the personnel are visiting the user. The personnel then have to make a Presence indication when they arrive and a Ready indication when they leave the user. NEO IP/GSM will then call the alarm receiver and transfer the information. When NEO IP/GSM is in Presence mode, all three LEDs on the front will flash. A Presence indication can be done by using the Extra button, see 2.1.3 Extra button or by using the button pattern described below. By using the pattern below, involuntary indications will be eliminated. Button pattern for Presence and Ready indication: Press and hold the green Reset button Press the red Alarm button twice Release the green Reset button To enable Presence and Ready indication, see Extra button, alarm type on page 39. 2.2.6 Sending a manual test alarm If first the green Reset button and then the red Alarm button are pressed and held for four seconds, the unit will beep shortly and initiate test alarm transmission. The red Alarm button starts to blink and blinks as long as the test alarm is not sent. A test alarm is silent and automatic and will not interact with the user. For details, see 5.1 Test alarm on page 24. 14 of 56

Operating the unit 2.2.7 Radio coverage test If the green Reset button is pressed and held while the unit is switched on and kept pressed until the start-up flashing has finished, the unit will go directly into Radio coverage test mode. After connecting a new radio transmitter, see Adding a additional radio transmitter to the home care phone on page 13 the unit will automatically enter Radio coverage test mode. The purpose of the radio coverage test is to check the range for the radio transmitter. After the radio coverage test has been activated, the user may walk around and check if the connection is OK. The acknowledgements are an acoustical indication from the loudspeaker and that the LED on the ATOM turns green. When the user activates the transmitter, the following responses from the home care phone are possible: Response One short beep One long beep Meaning Correct code, battery OK Correct code, battery weak Table 3. Radio coverage test responses 2.2.8 Testing the quality of the GSM network Since there is no screen to display the GSM network strength (as would be the case on a normal GSM mobile phone), the NEO IP/GSM can perform a test to do this. 1. Press the green Reset and the grey Extra button simoultaneously and keep pressed until four beeps are heard, then release. 2. NEO GSM will now measure the GSM signal strength and after approx 10-15 seconds it will beep a number of beeps to state the signal quality, see the table below. NEO GSM will then beep approx every 5 seconds to state the signal strength until the test is terminated. 3. Walk around in the home to ensure best reception possible. Keep the NEO GSM still for approx 10 seconds in each new location to ensure that the metering is as accurate as possible. 4. Terminate the metering by pressing the green reset button. LED indication patterns In addition to the above there is an indication in Standby mode for presence of personnel. All three LEDs will then flash 0.5 s every 4 second. If the unit is a NEO IP with GSM functionality, then the LEDs will indicate the status for the IP network. 2.4 Acoustic indications 2.4.1 After activating an alarm When the NEO IP/GSM is calling, it is possible to use choose different kinds of acoustical indications: Select pre-call signal melody, see Pre-call signal on page 44. Set the pre-call signal duration, see Pre-call signal duration on page 44. Select the sound level of indication tones, see Signal volume on page 44. 2.4.2 Warning functions in normal mode If an AC, battery or network/gsm failure occurs, an acoustical indication will take place. The indication consists of a short beep every 2 seconds. After 1 minute the beeps will occur every 30 seconds. The acoustical indication can be stopped by pressing the green Reset button. If a new failure occurs, the acoustical indication will start again regardless if the first failure is attended or not. The alarm call NEO IP/GSM Technical Handbook 3 The alarm call 3.1 Call structure 3.2 Alarm events 3.3 Alarm types The reason for the alarm i.e. the alarm source decides what alarm type that will be used in the alarm call. The alarm type forms a part of a group which points to a call sequence. The sequence consists of up to 4 call types with telephone number, alarm code, protocol and number of call attempts. An alarm can be initiated by one of the following reasons: A radio signal from a radio transmitter, e.g. ATOM A push on the alarm button or extra button An internally activated alarm Depending on the alarm event, the alarm can be routed to different alarm receivers in sequence. The type of alarm event is called alarm type, see next section. 3.3.1 Radio equipment alarms When an alarm arrives from a radio transmitter, the alarm type is normally decided from what alarm type that is connected to the radio position. If e.g. an ATOM is programmed into radio position 1, the alarm type is decided from the listbox. To determine the alarm type for a given radio transmitter, see 8.7.1 Radio alarms on page 37. Alarms from alarm button or extra button When the user presses the alarm button, the alarm type will always be User alarm from button. The extra button can be programmed to send desired alarm type. Please note that Presence alarm and Passive alarm will activate special functions, see section 6.3 and 6.6. To determine the alarm type when pressing the grey Extra button, see 8.7.3 Buttons on page 39. 3.3.2 Internally activated alarms The following alarms are activated internally. The alarm call 3.3.3 Undefined alarm types 3.4 Alarm type groups All alarm types are not defined in every protocol. If an alarm type isn t defined the unit will try with the next position in the sequence to see if this position holds another protocol. This will be done immediately. The same thing will happen if a telephone number or alarm code is missing. In the Home phone protocol, however, there is no requirement for any alarm code. When an alarm type is decided, NEO IP/GSM have to decide what sequence to use. This can be configured for 10 groups, see table below. Group Alarm types Sequence 1. The alarm call NEO IP/GSM Technical Handbook 3.5 Sequences 3.5.1 General Every call sequence consists of up to four different telephone numbers that can be called in a sequence. Every telephone number has its own alarm code, protocol and number of call attempts. All parameters together are called a call type. To program the sequences, see 8.8 Sequences tab on page 39. To define the different call types, you have to enter the following information: Telephone number or Internet address Alarm code Protocol No of call attempts Carrier 3.5.2 Acknowledgement of the alarm call The home care phone requires that the receiving personnel in some way acknowledge that they have received the alarm call. The acknowledgment is usually a DTMF tone sent from the telephone. The NEO IP/GSM can also be configured to require that the alarm call is disconnected by the receiving personnel. To change acknowledge requirements, see 8.11.1 Outgoing call on page 45. 3.5.3 Between call attempts If no-one answers the call, NEO IP/GSM will try calling again. Between the call attempts, there is a waiting period which can be set. To set the time between call attempts, see Time between calls on page 45. During the waiting period it is for some types of alarms possible to interrupt the call by pressing the grey Reset button. If a new alarm with higher priority arrives this will also interrupt the sequence and start a new alarm session. To change the parameters, see 8.5.3 Configure alarmtypes on page 36. Repetitions of the sequence The call sequence can be set to make several repetitions if no-one answers. The maximum number of repetitions are 255 and default is 40. To set the number of repetitions, see 8.8.3 Cycles on page 41. 3.5.4 Max number of call attempts For safety reasons there is a maximum limit of the total number of calls that can be done for each alarm event. This limit exists to avoid that the home care phone gets into an unlimited cycle of calls due to incorrect programming. Default value is 1. The alarm call NEO IP/GSM Technical Handbook 3.6 Before calling 3.6.1 Pre-call signal It is possible to have a signal sounding before the home care phone makes the call to the alarm central. This only applies to User alarms. During this period it is possible to interrupt the alarm if it was activated by mistake. The user will also always be aware of that NEO IP/GSM is calling. To set the parameters for dialling in speaker, pre-call signal, see 8.10.2 Indications on page 44. 3.7 Calling This is how long the home care phone should wait for an answer. To set the time to wait for answer, see 8.11.1 Outgoing call on page 45. 3.8 Protocols The home care phone NEO IP/GSM can communicate with number of different protocols, where some of the most common are: NEAT TALK CPC Tunstall Home phone (call to normal telephone) For a full list of supported protocols, see Appendix A Technical data on page 54. The protocols contain a lot of details and information. Please refer to related documents for specification of each protocol. However when the home care phone is configured to call to a normal telephone, NEO IP/GSM must use the Home phone protocol. To control the conversation in the Home phone protocol, the alarm receiving party can press the buttons on the telephone. The meaning of each button is shown below. The alarm call 3.9 Conversation To be sure that the home care phone doesn t stay in conversation mode forever, there is a maximum time for the conversation. Default is set to 5 minutes, but can be changed. If a tone command is sent from the receiving party, the time is reloaded with the default value. When 20 seconds remains of the conversation time, the home care phone sends a warning tone to the receiving party. The personnel can then press a button to extend the conversation time with 5 minutes more. To set the maximum conversation time, see Max conversation time on page 45. To set the conversation sound level, see Speech volume on page 44. 3.10 Queueing procedure 3.11 Log call In the NEAT TALK protocol, some alarm types can be queued and sent together with next alarm. The alarm types that normally are queued are: Accumulator alarm Battery alarm Presence indication Action indication To let these alarm types send their call directly, please contact your distributor or NEAT Electronics to get help with the configuration. It is possible to let NEO IP/GSM send a log call to another alarm receiver to give information about the last call. To activate/deactivate the Log call, see 8.7.4 Additional on page 39. The log call will not be sent after the following alarm types: Presence indication Ready indication Auto ready indication Action indication Test alarm Log call 23 of 56

Incoming calls NEO IP/GSM Technical Handbook 4 Incoming calls 4.1 Ringing signal NEO IP/GSM can be configured to sound a ringing signal when someone is calling. This can be useful if no ordinary telephone is present. To enable/disable ringing signal in the speaker, see 8.10.2 Indications on page 44. 4.2 Answer by portable trigger For many old people it can sometimes be difficult to answer a normal telephone. NEO IP/GSM can then be configured to answer the call when the user activates the ATOM. This can be useful if no ordinary telephone is present. To enable/disable Answer by portable trigger, see Answer by portable trigger on page 46. 4.3 Auto answer After the alarm is answered by pushing the portable trigger, the user can anytime hang-up the call by again pushing the button. The unit can also be programmed to automatically answer in Home phone mode. The unit will answer after the number of ringing signals configured in the unit. The unit will not answer if this value is 0. To set the number of ringning signals, see Signals before answer in home phone mode on page 46 5 Functions 5.1 Test alarm To let the alarm receiver know that the home care phone is working, NEO IP/ GSM can send test alarms to the alarm receiver at regular intervals. The default value is one test alarm every 24 hours. This interval can be changed, from 1 hour to 155 days. The function can also be turned off. To activate/deactivate the Test alarm function, see Test alarm on page 38. 24 of 56

Functions The test alarm interval can be set in hours or days. 1-100 means 1-100 hours 101-255 means 1-155 days To set the test alarm interval, see 8.10.1 Alarm activation and timers on page 43. The first test alarm will be sent after a random time between 5 and 60 minutes after installation. The second test alarm will be sent after a random period between 1 hour and the number of hours given by the time interval. The reason for this function is to avoid congestion of test alarms in the alarm receiver between 08.00 and 17.00 (normal installation working hours). NEO IP/GSM can be configured to reset the test alarm timer when a normal alarm has been sent and acknowledged. In this case the normal alarm has replaced the test alarm and proved that the unit and the line are working. This function is implemented to save costs for the user. To activate/deactivate the function for resetting the test alarm timer function, see Reset test alarm timer on page 48. 5.2 Reminder alarm In e.g. a nursing home it is possible to set a demand for the personnel to be present after an alarm. NEO IP/GSM will then call reminder alarms until the personnel make a Presence indication on the unit. To activate/deactivate the Reminder alarm, see Reminder on page 39. The time to the first reminder alarm can be programmed and is set in minutes. The second alarm will be sent after half of the time, and so on. The maximum number of reminders are 255. To set the time for the first Reminder alarm, see 8.10.1 Alarm activation and timers on page 43. To set the maximum number of Reminder alarms, see 8.10.1 Alarm activation and timers on page 43. 25 of 56

Functions NEO IP/GSM Technical Handbook 5.3 Passive alarm A Passive alarm will be generated if an event hasn t occurred during a certain time. E.g., if an infrared detector is connected to NEO IP/GSM as a Passive alarm, the unit will not send any alarm as long as the infrared detector detects movements. If there is no activity for a certain time, e.g. 8 hours, then NEO IP/ GSM will send an alarm. The maximum inactivity duration is 255 (in hours) To set the Passive alarm duration, see 8.10.1 Alarm activation and timers on page 43. The Passive alarm timer starts when an event has occurred that is connected to the Passive alarm. This can be: A radio signal from e.g. PIR or INKA A push on the extra button To select Passive function on any of the 8 added radio transmitters, see Alarm type pos. N on page 37. Please note that the timer doesn t start until the event has occurred the first time. If the extra button is programmed to be used with the Passive alarm, a warning signal will be generated 60 seconds before the alarm is sent. To activate Passive function on the grey Extra button, see Extra button, alarm type on page 39. 5.4 Assistance alarm If any button or transmitter is activated during this period, the passive timer will be reset and no alarm is sent. If no activation occurs, a Passive alarm will be sent to the alarm central. If a transmitter with the alarm type User alarm is activated when the NEO IP/ GSM is in Presence mode, the unit will change the alarm type from User alarm to Assistance alarm and send the alarm. This function may be useful when the personnel need help. When the personnel arrive in the house or apartment maybe the person is found on the floor and is heavy. The personnel can then push the users ATOM, and an Assistance alarm is sent to the alarm receiver. The alarm is with speech, so the personnel can speak with the alarm central. To activate/deactivate the Assistance alarm funtion, see Assistance on page 39. 26 of 56

Functions 5.5 Block for new alarms It is possible to block the unit for new alarms for a certain period after a User alarm has been sent. This function can be useful when the user has tendency to send alarms continuously. The time period is programmable. If the period is 0, the function is not active. To set the Blocking time duration (in minutes), see 8.10.1 Alarm activation and timers on page 43. 5.6 Presence and Ready indication It is possible to record when and for how long time the personnel are visiting the user. To make this the personnel have to make a Presence indication when they arrive and a Ready indication when they leave the user. NEO IP/GSM then calls the alarm receiver and transfers the information. When NEO IP/GSM is in Presence mode, the all three LEDs on the front will flash. A Presence indication can be done by using the grey Extra button (see section 2.2.5) or by using the button pattern described below. By using the pattern, involuntary indications will be eliminated. Button pattern for Presence and Ready indication: Press and hold the green Reset button Press the red Alarm button twice Release the green Reset button To activate/deactivate Auto Ready indication, see Auto ready on page 39. It is possible to set a maximum presence time. When this time is reached, the personnel have probably forgotten to make a Ready indication. To set the maximum time in Presence mode (in hours), see 8.10.1 Alarm activation and timers on page 43. 5.7 Action registration If NEO IP/GSM is using the NEAT TALK protocol, the unit will normally wait to send the Presence indication until the Ready indication has occurred. This can be done due to the capability to send multiple alarms in the NEAT TALK protocol. It is possible to record what actions the personnel is doing by the user. The actions are entered by a special terminal carried by the personnel. From the alarm receiver it will then be possible to present advanced statistics over the care activities. If NEO IP/GSM is using the NEAT TALK protocol, the unit will normally wait to send the Action indications until the Ready indication has occurred. This can be done due to the capability to send multiple alarms in the NEAT TALK protocol. 27 of 56

Functions NEO IP/GSM Technical Handbook 5.8 Replace last digit in code It is possible to change the last digit in the alarm code depending on which unit that has activated the alarm. When using this function it is appropriate to add a digit to the normal alarm code. If the normal alarm code is 1230, the result will then be: Alarm from alarm button 1230 Alarm from transmitter at position 1 1231 Alarm from transmitter at position 2 1232...... Alarm from transmitter at position 8 1238 To activate/deactivate Replace last digit in code, see Replace last digit in code on page 47. 5.9 User defined alarm type ID In NEO IP/GSM there are a number of pre-defined alarm types that all have a unique identification code and the identification code is unique for each protocol. If a situation occurs where the user want to send an alarm with an alarm type identification code that does not exist in any protocol in the NEO IP/GSM, it is possible to create this alarm type identification code. E.g. a user wants to send an alarm with identification code 35 when transmitter 1 is activated. To set the unique id code for a user defined alarm, see User defined alarm type ID on page 47. 5.10 Test alarm from radio transmitter The home care phone can handle transmitters with radio test alarm. If there hasn t been any radio test alarm for a certain period, NEO IP/GSM can be configured to send a Radio out of range alarm to the central indicating that there is some trouble with the transmitter. NEO IP/GSM can also send a Radio within range indication when the transmitter is working again. To activate/deactivate the Radio out of range alarm, see Radio out of range on page 38. To set the time for absent test alarm before Radio out of range is sent, see 8.10.1 Alarm activation and timers on page 43. To activate/deactivate the Radio within range alarm, see Radio within range on page 38. 28 of 56

Technical alarms 6 Technical alarms 6.1 Accumulator alarm If the battery in the home care phone gets too weak, an Accumulator alarm will be sent to alert the receiving personnel that there is some kind of problem for this user. The reason for the alarm can be: The AC adaptor isn t connected and NEO IP/GSM has been battery powered for a long time The rechargeable battery is getting old To activate/deactivate Accumulator alarm, see Accumulator on page 38. If the voltage is lower than the threshold value an Accumulator alarm will be sent. The user will also be warned by the LED on the front of the unit and by an acoustic signal. To deactivate this warning, see section 2.4.2. The unit will check the backup battery status at regular intervals. When the AC adaptor is connected the default is one check every 24 hours, but the time interval can be changed. If the unit is powered from the battery the status is checked continously. To set the AC mode battery check interval time (in hours), see 8.10.1 Alarm activation and timers on page 43. 6.2 Battery alarm 6.3 Radio interference If the battery in ATOM or other equipment is getting weak, the unit will send an alarm by radio to NEO IP/GSM. NEO IP/GSM will then immediately send a Battery alarm, to alert the receiving personnel that the ATOM needs to be changed. The radio alarm from the equipment can come alone or together with a normal User alarm. If the alarm comes together with the User alarm and NEO IP/GSM is using CPC or Tunstall the alarm types will be combined and exchanged to User alarm from trigger, battery low. It is important that the ATOM is transmitting on a frequency that is free from interference and disturbances. If a continuous radio interference signal is detected for 30 seconds, the unit will therefore indicate this by flashing all warning LEDs, see section 2.3.2. If the signal still is present after totally 2 minutes, the unit will send a Radio interference alarm to the alarm receiver. To activate/deactivate the Radio interference alarm, see Radio interference on page 38. 29 of 56

Technical alarms NEO IP/GSM Technical Handbook To avoid too many alarms to the alarm receiver, the unit will not send any additional radio interference alarms until a blocking time is up. The blocking time may be changed. To set the minimum time between Radio interference alarm, see 8.10.1 Alarm activation and timers on page 43. 6.4 Mains failure When the unit detects a mains failure, the unit will be powered from the internal backup-battery. The user will be warned by the LED on the front of the unit and by an acoustic signal. To deactivate this warning, see section 2.4.2. At mains failure, the unit will send a Mains failure alarm after a certain period. The alarm will by default be sent one hour after a mains failure has occurred. The time between a mains failure and Mains failure alarm is programmable. To set the time before sending a Mains failure alarm, see 8.10.1 Alarm activation and timers on page 43. To avoid that many units call at the same time, a random period of 1-60 minutes, will be added before the alarm is sent. If time to Mains failure alarm is set to one hour (default), the alarm will be sent after 61 to 120 minutes after the mains failure occurred. To activate/deactivate the Mains failure alarm, see Mains failure on page 38. 6.5 Mains return When the AC is returned and the home care phone has sent a Mains failure alarm, NEO IP/GSM can be configured to send a Mains OK indication. To avoid that many units call at the same time, the time from AC returns to the alarm is sent will be a random time between 1 and 60 minutes. To activate/deactivate the Mains failure alarm, see Mains failure on page 38. 30 of 56

Programming/Setup 7 Programming/Setup It is possible to program the NEO IP/GSM in two different ways. PC programming (by using NEAT Programming Unit NPU) Internet programming (only for NEO IP) (The software can be changed using an Internet connection) 7.1 Installation of the program The NPU is an equipment connected between the NEO IP/GSM and the USB port of a computer. When you have received your NPU follow the steps below. Do not connect the NPU to the computer until the installation of the program is finished. 7.2 Using the NPU Download the software and installation manual from www.neatelectronics.se. Install the program by using the installation manual before connecting the NPU To connect the NPU, follow the instructions below: 1. Connect the AC adaptor to the NPU 2. Connect the NPU to the USB port on the computer by the USB cable 3. Connect the NPU to the NEO IP/GSM connector AC 4. Switch on NEO IP/GSM You are now ready to read and write all parameters that are given in the PC program. 31 of 56

If no such file is present, the basic programming window opens, but no file is selectable from the drop down menu list Select configuration. If a SIM PIN code is required, enter the digits in the PIN Code box otherwise leave empty. NEO IP Programmer software NEO IP/GSM Technical Handbook 8.4.3 Network read from NEO IP/GSM Reading a configuration of a NEO IP/GSM over a network enables the user to read the configuration from an installed NEO IP/GSM at the domicile. To make this procedure work it requires the units serial number and unit password as well as enabling the NEAT Web Service, see 8.15.3 NEAT Web Service on page 51. The unit password is provided by NEAT upon delivery of the unit, see 8.14.2 Security on page 49. Picture 10. When NEO IP/GSM Programmer initiates a read by contacting the NEAT Web Service and places a read request at the server queue. 2. Every 60 seconds the NEO IP/GSM asks the web Service if there are any new action requests for the unit. 3. The NEO IP/GSM sends its configuration to the NEAT Web Service. 4. When upload of the configuration from the NEO IP/GSM unit is completed, then the Web Service returns the data to NEO IP/GSM Programmer. Picture 11. Network read/write overview By pressing the Green reset button on the NEO IP/GSM at the domicile it forces the unit to poll the Web Service for any new action requests, instead of waiting to the next time. This is convenient if the unit is on the same LAN as the NEO IP/GSM Programmer or there is someone at the domicile to press it. Network write to NEO IP/GSM The write process is similar to the read process. The NEO IP/GSM Programmer sends the configuration file to the NEAT Web Service and places it in a queue. 34 of 56

NEO IP Programmer software The NEO IP/GSM polls (or the poll is initiated manually by pressing the Green reset button) and the NEAT Web Service sends the configuraton file to the NEO IP/GSM unit and after a completed transfer the unit reboots. The Network write to NEO IP/GSM ONLY controls the transfer of the configuration file, NOT its contents! E.g. if the written configuration instructs the NEO IP/GSM to disable the WAN/LAN then the unit will disappear from the grid and has to be locally reconfigured! 8.5 Tools menu Table 7. The Tools menu 8.5.1 Basic programming 8.5.2 Create textfile Selecting Basic Programming here is just another way of changing programming mode, alternatively select File Exit and then select Basic Programming. Selecting this will generate a textfile with the parameters of the present unit and after pressing OK the textfile is opened in the computers default text editor. The textfile name is depending in the name of the saved configuration file and if the configuration is not yet saved, the filename will be Default.txt. Picture 12. Settings for Alarm type behaviour This window lets the admin alter the behaviour of every alarm type, e.g. letting a battery alarm be prioritized, instead of not or even disabling the alarm type. Be very careful when changing the parameters for the alarm types. Improper changes may result in erroneous alarms. 8.5.4 Change passwords There are three levels of password in NEO IP/GSM Programmer. Level 1 - Password to enter detailed programming (Password = 0000 (four zeroes)) Level 2 - Level 1 + access to enter alarm type configuration (Password = 1111) Level 3 - Level 2 + permisson to change passwords (Password = admin) Do not confuse the NEO IP/GSM Programmer password with the NEO IP/GSM unit password (displayed on the Configuration tab) 8.6 Help menu Picture 14. N Adding a radio transmitter can be made in two ways, either directly enter the radio code or let the NPU listen to a transmitted radio code. Enter a radio code (eg. 0A5B) directly into this field to add a transmitter to a radio position (eg. 0A5B to Radio poistion 1). Normally the accompanying ATOM is already present in radio position 1 in a NEO IP/GSM kit delivered from NEAT Electronics. To add a radio transmitter where the radio code is unknown, press the button to the right of the Radio Pos field. The Receive Radio Code window opens and the programmer is now waiting for a radio code. Activate the radio transmitter and upon a succesful reception, the Receive Radio Code window automatically closes and the radio code is visible in the Radio Pos field. To check the device added to a radio position, press the information button. Alarm type pos. N Select the corresponding alarm type for each radio position. The default values are seen in 8.7. Even if the alarm type might be deactivated under Tools Configure alarm types... it is still selectable. Changing alarm types must be done very carefully and tested thuroughly before implementing! If the radio transmnitter includes an alarm type in the radio message to the NEO IP/GSM then this will override the selected alarm type in the configuration. 37 of 56

NEO IP Programmer software NEO IP/GSM Technical Handbook 8.7.2 Internal These alarms are also mentioned technical alarms due to their nature. The checkbox indicates whether the alarm is activated or not. Test alarm If Test Alarm is checked, the NEO IP/GSM will periodically send an notification to a selected receiver, e.g. an alarm central or a test alarm receiver. By default this alarm is silent, i.e. the NEO IP/GSM does not dial in speaker nor is the speaker activated during the communication. The receiver is determined on the Sequences tab - Test alarm and the peridiocity is determined on the Timers and Indications tab - Test Alarm Interval. Mains failure Should the AC adaptor fail or accidentally be removed, the unit automatically switches to the accumulator and the unit can send a Mains failure alarm. NB! If power failure occurs in the building, this usually means the power for the Internet connection is also lost. But, if the NEO IP/GSM is equipped with a GSM module, the alarm is sent over the GSM network Mains OK When the AC power returns to the unit the unit can be set to send Mains OK. Radio interference NEO IP/GSM is monitoring the radio environment and detects if there is radio interference and can send an alarm if this occurs. Radio inteferences lasting shorter than 2 minutes does not trigger this alarm, i.e. shorter interferences may occur but will not trig the alarm. Radio out of range By default an ATOM contacts its host, in this case the NEO IP/GSM, every 9 hour to say Here I am!. If the transmission is successful (i.e. the NEO IP/GSM receives the signal) the NEO IP/GSM resets a timer, expecting next transmission within 73 hours (default value is 73 hrs). Should no new transmission occur within these 73 hours, then the NEO IP/GSM can be set to send a Radio out of range alarm. Radio within range When the ATOM returns within radio range the NEO IP/GSM can be set to send a Radio within range alarm. Accumulator NEO IP/GSM constantly monitors the health and status of the accumulator. Should any parameter deviate from a given specification then the NEO IP/GSM can send an Accumulator alarm. 38 of 56

Enabling/disabling the Alarm button to act as an alarm button does not affect the illumination parameter. First, the telephone numbers A and B are defined. The telephone numbers, alarm codes and call attempts are set. Picture 18. All user alarms are set to use sequence 1 and sequence 1 calls number A five times (i.e. Call Attempt A) and if there is no answer it continues to call number B three times (i.e. Call Attempt B). Picture 19. Setting the Call parameters. The time to wait for answer during a call attempts and the between calls is set on the Call Parameters tab. So with the settings as above the sequence will look as follows for the sequence 1. In this case sequence 1 attempts to dial the A number five times before continuing to the B, making three attempts. The Line volume, speaker level extra is an extra level to be used by the operator, e.g. to boost the sound level if the user is speaking from a long distance in the domicile. Network enable and WAN enable If Network enable is unchecked, the network interface is disabled. If Network is enabled and WAN is not, then the unit works in a LAN setup only. I.e. the unit will not be able to access the Internet. NTP, STUN and PING server Usually the predefined values works fine, but can be changed if there are problems, e.g. firewall problems, and/or other servers wish to be used. This should only be done in conjunction with the SIP operator or NEAT Electronics AB.
