Monitoring is via our state of the art, 24hr Control Centre. Significant investment has also gone into the construction of an advanced facility to monitor up to 30,000 cameras. This is the largest such facility in East & Central Africa and is located at I&M Building on 2 nd Ngong Avenue, Upperhill Nairobi. This facility follows the British Standards BS8418, BS7958 and BS8591 for best practice on the design, installation, commissioning, maintenance, operation and remote monitoring of detector-activated CCTV. IP CCTV Remote Monitoring Running on the latest in full HD, Internet Protocol CCTV cameras, our monitoring system can watch over your premises and respond in real time to incidents. We combine the CCTV cameras with advanced video analytics and a powerful audio warning system to detect intruders and to then deliver a real time audio warning. If the threat is not eliminated at this stage, we coordinate response with security companies and the Police. Alarm Remote Monitoring Remote or unattended premises can sometimes provide a challenge in ensuring they remain safe. Our alarm systems can be deployed for this. Through a combination of motion and access sensors, ingress and egress points of premises can be remotely monitored from Opticom s Control Centre and breaches responded to in real time. Response can be tailored according to your requirements. Alarms can also be armed and disarmed according to your timetable. Medical Response Keep your staff, customers, and loved ones safe by responding quickly in a medical emergency. When a medical alert device is activated, the signal to include precise GPS location will be sent immediately to our 24- hour Monitoring Centre. Our monitoring specialists will notify and coordinate response with ambulance services, hospitals and medical insurers.

Fire Safety Opticom offers a comprehensive range of Fire Detection, Intelligent Life Safety systems that provide smoke and fire detection, sprinkler supervision, fire extinguishers, and emergency communications to significantly reduce the risks of fire-related damages to your business. We are experts in local and international fire code standards and our fire detection solutions help customers better manage employee safety, and protect data and assets. Fire presents one of the biggest risks to businesses and has devastating consequences for any business affected by it. A fire will have economic, organisational, legal and human impacts for the affected organisation. Additionally every employer has a legal responsibility to ensure people working in or using its premises are protected. We work closely with our customers to design, install, maintain and monitor the right industry specific fire detection and life safety solutions. We can also provide 24/7 monitoring for fire systems through our 24Hour Central Control and Customer Service Centre.

Fire Detection Systems Reliable and effective fire detection and alarm systems are essential for all businesses who want to protect their people, their property and their assets. Opticom has the knowledge and expertise of the fire protection sector to enable us to carry out design, installation and commissioning of all projects from start to finish. Fire Suppression Systems Combining both mechanical and electrical expertise sprinkler systems provide an additional degree of protection for both life and property above smoke and/or other fire detection systems. A correctly designed and installed sprinkler system can detect and control a fire at an early stage of development and activate an alarm. Correct operation of the system will rapidly reduce the production rate of heat and smoke allowing more time for personnel evacuation. Fire Fighting Equipment We provide a full range of high quality firefighting equipment to include fire extinguishers, hose reel systems and cabinets, delivery hoses and more specialised equipment for high risk industries e.g. oil & gas. Opticom also provides full training including fire drills and fire audits so as to mitigate risk and also to ensure you know what to do in the unfortunate event of a fire breaking out.

Access Control Systems Having true access control for your business doesn t just mean preventing access to high security areas. It means that employees and visitors can gain access to relevant areas needed at the right times. We understand that you need to regulate movement throughout your facility; by determining who is allowed to enter or exit so you let the right people in and keep the wrong people out. Opticom s access control systems provide an audit trail and documentation of who was in what areas of your site and when. Added to this insight our access control helps avoid the need for key management, as cards can be re-programmed as needed. Our team has vast experience designing effective access control systems for businesses in a broad range of industries. With state-of-the-art technologies from leading manufacturers such as PAC, Paxton, PLAN and in the enterprise level access control Lenel, S2, Honeywell Prowatch, C-Cure Software House, Genetec, and others. Installed by our highly skilled professionals, your system will be both highly effective and easily managed to ensure the proper flow of people throughout your building and the security of your business, employees, and site. Opticom designs, installs, maintains and upgrades standalone systems, networked enterprise-wide systems or hosted systems to offer a full range of Access Control solutions. We support all types of customers, from small local businesses to building enterprise-class access control solutions for large campuses.

Locally Managed Access Opticom will design and install your access control system, as well as integrate your badging and visitor entry systems. We ll provide either a software- or webbased management application, which your team can use to easily manage your access system. This solution is ideal for small- to mid-sized offices or facilities with consistent schedules and staffing. Remote Access Management In addition to installing your system, Opticom will provide complete remote management of your system over a secure, web-based application. We can administer your badging and cardholder database, manage door lock schedules, and provide activity/exception reports as needed. These solutions can benefit many businesses in industries like distribution/ logistics, where staffing and schedules can frequently fluctuate. Enterprise Managed Access This remotely managed access control solution is designed for businesses operating multiple facilities or very large complexes. Network IP compatibility allows our team to integrate databases and easily control the varying access requirements at all locations through our server-based access control software application. This type of solution is best used in large, multi-site, integrated environments such as university campuses, retail chains, healthcare facilities, sports stadiums, and more.

Measurable return on investment (ROI) by applying this surveillance system to achieve demonstrable business outcomes. Fraud - via ATM skimming, employee collusion among others loses banks significant amounts every year. Opticom s surveillance system can detect efforts to interfere with ATM machines, employee unauthorized access to restricted systems and /or areas as well as other configurable events that may constitute fraud. Dynamically compare images of individuals from incoming video streams against specific databases and immediately send alerts and record results when a positive match occurs. This can be used to monitor a watch list of know offenders and raise a specific alarm when they try to access the restricted facilities. Long queues can lead to customer abandonment, lost sales and potentially damage your company image and future sales opportunities. Effectively monitor queue length, average wait times, individual wait times and proactively optimize till opening & staffing levels. Get reliable & consistent data delivering accurate metrics to help you understand footfall and visitor trends. Identify and plan for power hours (your busiest periods) to ensure effective staff planning. Compare performance between branches and effectively measure marketing effectiveness and sales conversion rates.

Surveillance Beyond Security continued The perimeter security system detects all unauthorized intrusion and automatically communicates to the video management software (VMS) which instantly communicates the relevant information to the security personnel. These automated responses are configurable and can be set by the systems administrator having access to a range of responses based on predefined rules. Managing access to multiple secure areas at premises can be centralized to ensure only authorized personnel gain entry. The video management system can automatically detect efforts to gain unauthorized access into secure areas and raise a specific alarm. Our CCTV cameras have the capability for twoway audio communication over standards based VoIP (SIP). This can be directly connected to Call Centres to provide 24hr real time support. This can also be used to deliver real-time verbal warnings to anyone attempting to interfere with the client facilities, equipment or premises. A guard tour patrol system is a system for logging the rounds of employees in a variety of situations such as security guards patrolling property, technicians monitoring climate-controlled environments. It helps ensure that the employee makes his or her appointed rounds at the correct intervals and can offer a record for legal or insurance reasons. Our patrol devices come with GPS locators, GSM enabled two-way communication and extensive reporting capabilities.

Guaranteeing that we can provide a consistently high quality service, have the ability to correct faults expeditiously and can provide a reliable user experience. No matter how automated security technology becomes, the system operator will always remain the most important factor in a monitoring centre, as well as being the most expensive. The performance of the monitoring centre will largely depend on the skills and judgment of the person operating the system. While recruitment and supervision are both important, without proper training, operator performance will be a hit and miss affair. This is why Opticom has always treated training as a priority within a system deployment. Our approach differs from that of the usual provider in that not only do we equip our controllers with the skills to do their jobs effectively, but we then provide them with round the clock support. Our support informs our training and, conversely, training our users helps make our support more effective. Our entire training is based on the British Standard BS8418 Installation and remote monitoring of detector activated CCTV systems. It is essential that we ensure our employees that are put in a position of trust carry the moral character and judgment required to do their jobs. To ensure this, all control room operators are vetted according to the British Standard BS7858 Security Screening of individuals employed in a security environment. This standard demands that we check the following: a) A record of 10 years continuous employment or educational history with no gaps longer than 28 days allowed b) A listing of 2 character references from an outstanding member of society for instance a minister of religion. Character references must not be related to the subject of enquiry. c) If there are periods of unemployment longer than 28 days, seek a reference from a minister of religion or other outstanding member of society to account for how this time was spent. d) A police check to ensure the subject does not have a criminal record e) A credit check financially distressed workers can pose a greater risk of dishonest behavior.

Opticom Kenya has implemented an in-house quality management system. This documents the entire business process we follow from when we are awarded a job to commissioning and successful handover to the client. This serves as a guideline for our day to day operations, to ensure that our clients expect and receive a high quality and consistent service throughout their interaction with us. We also have documented policies on Occupational Health and Safety at work, Environmental Policy, Complaints Policy, Equal Opportunities Policy and a Drug & Alcohol Abuse Policy. These act as guidelines to ensure all our workers conduct themselves in a professional manner while at work and when serving our clients. We will provide a full Maintenance Contract to ensure our systems consistently perform as intended. We envisage the following maintenance levels: a) Preventive Maintenance planned maintenance carried out on a scheduled basis to proactively guard against system breakdowns and ensure smooth operations. We conduct this on a 6 monthly basis. b) Corrective Maintenance emergency maintenance of the system or part thereof, carried out in response to the development of a fault. This will come with a service level agreement to address expectations such as response and resolution times. c) Remote Maintenance maintenance conducted mainly on software systems, from our Control Room to ensure the continuous unhindered operation of the video management system. This may include system updates, security updates and anti-virus updates.
