General Specifications Roof specification Chelsea roofs are constructed from Western Red Cedar shingles with elegantly cambered eaves. Shingles are cut to size by hand and are laid in a roof specific pattern to avoid water penetration. Internally the roof is left unlined with braced battons. (The roof is lined with plywood when upgraded to a fully insulated building). The Oxford is finished with EPDM rubber roofing. Sides Chelsea summerhouse sides are externally clad with Western Red Cedar shiplap panel boards and are lined internally with either plain or tongue and groove moisture resitant MDF or Oak-faced plywood. All buildings have the option of having insulation as an upgrade, with the exception of the Sunbury gazebo. Flooring All summerhouses have integral tongue and grooved flooring laid onto traditional preservative treated floor joists, with the exception of The Sunbury that is supplied with a slatted floor. Doors The doors on all models are constructed in cedar using traditional mortice and tenon joinery. All our timbers are ethically sourced and are PEFC certified. Weathervanes These handsome copper weathervanes the Rooster or Goose can offer a finishing touch to your summerhouse. Glazing Traditional hand leaded lights, made from individual panes of glass are standard. An upgrade to double glazing is also available, with a plant-on lead or plain glass option. Windows are side hung. Full Height Glazing We also offer the option of full height glazing enabling you to have panoramic views of your garden. This would be toughened double plain glazing. Furniture All door and window furniture and fittings are in solid brass as standard or pewter as an option. Insulation All buildings have the option of having insulation as an upgrade, with the exception of the Sunbury gazebo. Foil backed insulation is used to insulate the floors, sides and roof. Electrics An electrical pack is available, which consists of two double sockets and a ceiling light. (Final connection by your own electrician). Base Works For peace of mind and many years trouble free use, we recommend a concrete base or a hard standing such as a paved area to sit your summerhouse on. Full and comprehensive base plans will be supplied when your order has been placed. Box Seating This clever sectional style of seating offers the best use of interior space, for any hexagonal or octagonal Chelsea Summerhouse as it also doubles up as integral storage space. It comes complete with deep foam padded seats and loose back-rest cushions in a range fabrics. All seating is painted to match your summerhouse so that it blends in perfectly. Each section of seating will be supplied with a high quality, deep seat cushion, complete with piping. Sumptuous loose backrest cushions are also supplied. Chelsea Summerhouses offer a wide choice of fabrics, whether plain or patterned, to suit your personal tastes. The fabric design options for the cushions to accompany your benches are represented below. Shelving An exclusively designed storage feature within the summerhouse boarded panels is available as an optional extra.
