Christmas Party: Tuesday, December 4, 2018 Location: John and Heather Cover Home 2104 Fox Valley Circle, Birmingham Time: 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM Bring a dish and come on out next Tuesday. Plan on fun, food, fellowship and friends as we gather at this special time of the year. You do not want to miss the games and an opportunity to visit with your ISA friends and co-workers. This is very informal and you are encouraged to wear that Ugly Christmas Sweater. Each year the section seeks to nominate a recipient for Engineer of the Year, Young Engineer of the Year, and a Distinguished Service Award. The nominees are recognized at the Engineer s Week Banquet in February and also at the section H&A Dinner in May. The 2018 Engineer of the Year (EOY) for ISA is John Sorge, of Southern Company Services, and a long-time senior member of the ISA Birmingham Section. This award is based on engineering achievements and overall contribution to both the technical community and to the civic community at large. The recipient is to be more than 35 years of age, reside in the general Birmingham area, and be

a member of the nominating society. John is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Alabama, and has worked in power generation for many years. Please join us in congratulating John for this recognition of his contributions to the engineering profession. The 2018 Young Engineer of the Year (YEOY) for ISA is Steven Holland of W.G. Yates Company. The recipient is to be less than 35 years of age, reside in the general Birmingham area, and be a member of the nominating society. Please join us in congratulating Steven for his work in the early stages of his automation and control field of practice. The 2018 Distinguished Service Award for ISA goes to Cliff Fleming of Control Equipment company and a long-time leader of the ISA Birmingham Section. This award is based on service to the nominating society, and overall contributions to the technical community and to the civic community. Cliff has served in many capacities with the ISA Birmingham Section, including president, vice-president, secretary, Product Education chair, and continues as the ISA Birmingham Section representative to the Engineering Council of Birmingham (ECOB). In addition, he has served on many important task forces and committees to improve the section services to the members and customers.
