Figure 4 Twinwall seal dimensions 150 mm Seal 225 mm Seal 300 mm Seal 375 mm Seal 450 mm Seal 600 mm Seal 750 mm Seal 2 Manufacture 2.1 Te pipes are manufactured by a twin extrusion process in wic two pipes are extruded simultaneously, one inside te oter, and eat-welded togeter in one continuous process. 2.2 Te couplers are injection-moulded in polypropylene, or rotationally moulded in polyetylene. 2.3 As part of te assessment and ongoing surveillance of product quality, te BBA as; agreed wit te manufacturer te quality control procedures and product testing to be undertaken assessed and agreed te quality control operated over batces of incoming materials monitored te production process and verified tat it is in accordance wit te documented process evaluated te process for management of nonconformities cecked tat equipment as been properly tested and calibrated undertaken to carry out te above measures on a regular basis troug a surveillance process, to verify tat te specifications and quality control operated by te manufacturer are being maintained. 2.4 Te management system of Naylor Drainage Ltd as been assessed and registered as meeting te requirements of BS EN ISO 9001 : 2015 by BSI (Certificate FM 01420). 3 Delivery and site andling 3.1 Pipes wit nominal internal diameters up to 450 mm are generally delivered packed in stillages and sould be retained in teir packaging until installation. 600 and 750 mm pipes are delivered loose and sould be kept on firm, flat ground prior to installation. 3.2 Handling, storage and transportation of te pipes and couplers must be in accordance wit te Certificate older s instructions, wit care taken to avoid damage by dropping or dragging. Tey sould be adequately supported at all times, and contact wit sarp projections, protuberances and abrasive surfaces sould be avoided. 3.3 Wen long-term storage is envisaged, te pipes and couplers must be protected from direct sunligt. If protection cannot be provided, consideration must be given to te effects of daily exposure to direct sunligt: up to 3 monts negligible UV degradation but possible extreme surface temperatures of up to 80 C may cause some localised distortion 3 to 12 monts may ave significant effect on te impact resistance and pysical properties of te products over 12 monts damage will occur unless protection is provided. 3.4 Te Certificate older can manufacture te pipes wit enanced UV stability if required. Assessment and Tecnical Investigations Te following is a summary of te assessment and tecnical investigations carried out on Naylor Metrodrain Twinwall Higway Drainage System 150 mm to 750 mm Pipes and Couplers. Design Considerations 4 Use Naylor Metrodrain Twinwall Higway Drainage System 150 mm to 750 mm Pipes (perforated and unperforated) and Couplers comply wit te requirements of te MCHW, Volume 1, Clause 518.5 for pipes, Clause 518.6 for couplers, couplers and Clause 518.7 for te system. Wen installed in accordance wit te recommendations given in tis Certificate, tey are satisfactory for use in igways for te collection and disposal of surface and sub-surface water. 5 Practicability of installation Te products must be installed by competent contractors experienced wit tese types of products using traditional drain-laying metods in accordance wit HE requirements and te MCHW, Volume 1, Clauses 503, 505, 518.8 and 518.9. Te lengts in wic te pipes are available and teir ligtness in weigt are a significant advantage during andling and installation, and jointing of te pipes can be readily acieved. Page 5 of 9

6 Strengt 6.1 Te pipes ave a ring stiffness equal to or in excess of 6 kn m 2, a creep ratio of less tan 4 and adequate resistance to static loads. 6.2 Te pipes ave adequate resistance to impact loads to wic tey may be subjected during installation and in service. 6.3 Te pipes can be used as an alternative to te plastic pipes for surface water drains listed in te MCHW, Volume 1, Table 5/1, and for safe bedding dept purposes may be assumed to ave a standard dimension ratio (SDR) not greater tan 26. 7 Performance of joints 7.1 Joints on filter pipes made from pipe and couplers witout te rubber seals are not partially watertigt as defined in te MCHW, Volume 1, Clause 504.4. 7.2 Wen correctly made, joints constructed from pipe and couplers or plain and socketed pipe ends wit rubber seals remain watertigt wen subjected to deflection and distortion, and comply wit te MCHW, Volume 1, Clauses 504.3 and 518.7 (see section 15). 8 Water infiltration Te slot area for te pipes exceeds te minimum requirement given in te MCHW, Volume 1, Clause 518.3 of 1000 mm 2 per metre lengt (see Table 3). 9 Flow caracteristics 9.1 Te pipes will ave normal flow caracteristics associated wit PVC-U pipes. 9.2 Full-bore velocities are available from Tables of te Hydraulic Design of Pipes, Sewers and Cannels, Volume 2, 8t Edition by H R Wallingford and D I H Barr. Te values are based on te Colebrook-Wite equation. An appropriate value of rougness coefficient sould be selected wen designing te drainage system. For new pipes, a value of 0.006 mm is applicable, but for designs, a value of 0.6 mm is generally used. 10 Maintenance 10.1 Access to te products for cleaning sould be provided by conventional metods. 10.2 Te slots are designed to restrict te ingress of silt into te drains. 10.3 Te products can be rodded readily using flexible drain rods. In common wit oter standard plastic drainage systems, tooted root cutters and rods wit metal ferrules, as used wit some mecanical clearing systems, could damage te pipes and couplers and sould not be used. 10.4 Results of tests indicate tat te pipes ave adequate resistance to water cleansing using pressure-jetting equipment. It is recommended tat low-pressure, ig-volume systems are used in accordance wit te MCHW, Volume 1, Clause 521. 11 Durability In te opinion of te BBA, wen te products are used in te context of tis Certificate, te material from wic te pipes and couplers are manufactured will not significantly deteriorate and te anticipated service life of te products will be in excess of 50 years. 12 Reuse and recyclability Te products are manufactured from polyetylene or polypropylene, wic are recyclable. Installation 13 General Naylor Metrodrain Twinwall Higway Drainage System 150 mm to 750 mm Pipes and Couplers must be installed in accordance wit HE requirements and te MCHW, Volume 1, Clauses 503, 505, 518.8 and 518.9. 14 Procedure 14.1 For typical laying, trenc and backfilling specification details, reference sould be made to Figure 5 and te MCHW, Volume 3, Drawing Nos F1 (Type T and S) and F2 (Type G, H and I). Page 6 of 9

Figure 5 Installation details 14.2 Pipes can be cut using conventional and tools, and sould be cut square between te corrugations. 14.3 For a watertigt joint, te pipe ends and coupler or socket pipe end sould be cleaned and a rubber seal fitted. For sizes between 150 and 600 mm te seal is fitted externally between te first and second corrugation in te pipe. For 750 mm pipe te seal is fitted between te first and te second corrugation if using a socketted pipe, and between te second and te tird corrugation if using a coupler. Te seal and inside of te coupler or socket pipe end sould be lubricated wit a Naylor-approved lubricant and te pipe pused fully ome to te register, eiter by and or using a lever if necessary. 14.4 Te pipes and couplers must be protected against damage from site construction traffic. 14.5 Care sould be taken during backfill to maintain te line and level of te pipeline. If necessary, te pipe sould be restrained to prevent uplift. Tecnical Investigations 15 Tests 15.1 Tests were carried out on te pipe and te results assessed to determine compliance wit te MCHW, Volume 1, Clause 518.5, including: determination of ring stiffness to BS EN ISO 9969 : 2016 creep ratio to BS EN ISO 9967 : 2016 resistance to longitudinal bending to te MCHW, Volume 1, Clause 518.11 impact strengt at 0 and 23 C to BS EN 1411 : 1996 wit a d25 striker of 1.0 kg mass rodding resistance to te MCHW, Volume 1, Clause 518.12 water jetting WRc metod. 15.2 Tests were carried out on jointed pipe to establis compliance wit te MCHW, Volume 1, Clauses 504.3 and 518.7, of: leaktigtness of joints to BS EN 1277 : 2003 wen subjected to diameter distortion and angular deflection resistance to rodding. 15.3 Tests were carried out to establis te dimensional accuracy of te pipe, coupler and ring seal. 16 Investigations 16.1 An assessment was made of data in relation to te effect of te production tolerances on te performance of te products. 16.2 An evaluation of existing data was made to assess material properties, cemical resistance and durability. Page 7 of 9
