March 12, 1908, City Meeting: New Engine, Building, Alarm system Upon motion of Partridge seconded by Martin it was ordered that the City Clerk be directed to advertise for bid for following Fire Department supplies. One third size steamer and equipment, 3000 feet 2 1/2 hose, a complete Gamwell Ten Box Fire Alarm system successful bidder to take pay for same in Fire Department 30 year 4 1/2% interest baring Bonds at par and also to purchase for cash at par enough more of said Bonds to make $25,000 the total amount of the Fire department Bond issue.

January 11, 1909, City Meeting: It was moved by Mose Drachman seconded by Myers that the Council resolve itself into a committee of the whole on the different repots and begin with the Fire Department report. Motion Carried and so ordered After a lengthily discussion by the following motion on the proposed purchase of horses, City attorney Richey on the liability of the City in case of fire without protection Mr. Drachman mentioned the fact that $9,000.00 odd only was available for building and purchasing site for Fire House and installation of the Gamwell Alarm System and suggested the sale of City lots for the purchase of a Fire House site. Martin replied that the Fire department was already in possession of a triangular lot opposite the SP. Co. Passenger Depot the same having been dedicated for the benefit of the Fire Department by a former Council and submitted the following figures. $10,000.00 available cash with the highest estimates as follows $7,500.00 for building $1,500.00 for horses $200.00 for harnesses $200.00 for incidentals $350.00 for installation of Alarm System leaving $1,000.00 reserve. Lastridge promised to have Engine in readiness for any service within two or three days and Fire Chief stating that Mr. Cameron had two horses suitable for the Fire Engine. Upon motion of Drachman seconded by Martin the entire matter in regard to putting Engine in readiness was referred to the Fire Committee with power to with.
May 3, 1909, City Meeting: Chairman Partridge of the Fire Committee reported that the sliding pole at the new Fire Station was placed in the center of the driveway and should be changed to leave the same open and recommended that immediate steps be taken toward installing the Gamwell Alarm System. After a general discussion by all members it was ordered that the Building and Land Committee arrange to have one more sliding pole installed and upon motion duly made and seconded the Fire Committee was instructed to produce all the data necessary for the Alarm System at the next meeting of the Council May 5th, 1909.

May 12, 1909, City Meeting: Chairman Partridge Chairman of the Fire Committee stated that it was urgent that the Fire Alarm System should be installed immediately and that the Councilman Martin was a former member of the Committee and had all the data as to the location of the Alarm Boxes called on him for the data. Councilman Martin after producing a map of the city stated that the alarm Boxes were to be placed as follows Also that Mr. Russell had promised to install the system at cost or the actual expense and upon motion duly made and seconded the Fire Committee was instructed to proceed to install the System immediately.
