Icon when the light is important With its simple, robust design, the Icon post top has become a familiar sight in many environments. Icon is a highly flexible concept, thanks to a variety of optical systems and a versatile choice of light sources. Due to its versatility, Icon helps to meet the most stringent standards in energyefficient urban lighting. The Icon post top possesses a unique capacity to blend seamlessly into its surroundings. Designer Mads Odgaard drew inspiration as he experienced lighting in the city at night. Quite simply, he found natural inspiration by observing the shape of the moon. With its subtle glow, Icon's hemispherical, illuminated surface becomes a decorative and functional feature. 3

Innovation Urban lighting is much more than the sum of energy and effect. In terms of aesthetics and design, it is increasingly important that lighting is adapted to the individual location. Color rendering and comfort have become crucial parameters in determining the lighting of any urban area. The new Icon LED is designed to offer either diffuse or indirect light. Whichever option is chosen, uncomfortable glare is avoided. In the type 5 distribution, light is emitted from a single LED through an anti-glare diffuser. In the type 2 and 3 distributions, two LEDs emit light indirectly from the reflector. Pedestrians and drivers alike will find that this type of lighting is both pleasant and effective. Icon is available in two variants, Opal and Basic. The Opal version uses 1% of the light emitted to illuminate its opal hemisphere. This self-illuminating feature provides a guiding beacon along a winding path. As an alternative, there is also the direct downward lighting variant, Basic, which emits no light at or above an angle of 90, thus creating a comfortable ambience for residents in multistorey buildings close to the road. 5
54W Thin-walled copper pipe Interior lining with capillary effect At the cold end of the pipe, the water vapor condenses and releases heat to its surroundings. The water is drawn back along the inside of the pipe. Low temperature and low pressure allows water in the pipe to evaporate. At the hot end of the pipe, the water evaporates, taking heat away from the area. Due to the pressure difference, the water vapor moves towards the colder end. 6
45W Durability The upper side of the heat sink is mounted directly on the fixture housing, which conducts heat away to the surroundings. The surface has been finished to a very fine tolerance for optimal contact and low thermal resistance. The lifetime of an LED light source is optimal when the temperature around the light source itself is reduced. Louis Poulsen uses an advanced cooling system, which conducts heat away from the light source. The result is a longer lifespan. The High Power LED is mounted on the lower side of the heat sink. The surface has been finished to a very fine tolerance for optimal contact and low thermal resistance. The heat sink fins increase the surface area and heat conduction of the surrounding air in the fixture. 7

LED version with Type 2 light distribution This version is designed for a cable hanger and is used when light has to be spread along the length of a pathway. The distribution of light with this version is adjustable to suit local conditions and can also be adapted to emit different degrees of asymmetrical light. This version is particularly suitable for use on a side-mounted pole. LED version with Type 3 light distribution 10
Lighting distribution LED version with Type 5 light distribution This version has been specially developed for use in parks, on plazas, residential streets and commercial campuses. Light is optimized with symmetric distribution and a high degree of uniformity. The Icon LED is supplied with optimized light distribution which meets many requirements for efficiency and comfort. Icon LED is available with three different light distribution systems which meets most lighting tasks. 11

Future-proof To provide longevity and versatility, all of the LEDs are interchangeable. A toolfree system provides easy access to the light source. As the glass bottom enclosure is connected to the fixture with a aircraft cable, the installer can work with both hands. Although the light sources are durable, from time to time, other parts may have to be serviced. The design takes this fact into consideration as everything can be accessed from below. 13
