Interior lighting Part 2: Emergency lighting 1 Scope 1.1 This part of SANS 10114 gives the fundamental principles and specifies the luminous requirements and minimum continuous operating periods for interior emergency lighting systems. 1.2 Although this part of SANS 10114 is not applicable to private domestic premises, its provisions can be applied to common access routes within multi-storey dwellings. 1.3 This part of SANS 10114 is not applicable to techniques that, when used in escape routes in addition to conventional emergency lighting luminaires, can enhance the effectiveness of the escape routes. NOTE This part of SANS 10114 should be read in conjunction with the requirements of the Building Regulations (SANS 10400) as well as the Environmental Regulations in legislation (see foreword). Amdt 1; amdt 2 2 Normative references The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this part of SANS 10114. All standards are subject to revision and, since any reference to a standard is deemed to be a reference to the latest edition of that standard, parties to agreements based on this part of SANS 10114 are encouraged to take steps to ensure the use of the most recent editions of the standards indicated below.
