The Need for the Project Traditionally, Fire and Rescue Services as reactive Fire and Rescue Services Act (2004) (UK) legal obligation to prevent fires and reduce risk of fires Fire and Rescue Services must be proactive & reactive Must identify, quantify and manage fire risks Must work to prevent and reduce fire risks Project partners successfully reducing fire risk - However, need for more comprehensive risk assessment and management frameworks

3. Aim of the Project To reduce the financial and human cost of accidental, natural and social fires throughout Europe. To develop innovative tools and frameworks to assist in the identification, quantification, management and reduction of fire risk

ANSFR Project - Accidental, Natural and Social 4. Project Design 3 key areas: Accidental Fires electrical fault, negligence Natural Fires grassland, woodland, moorland Social Fires nuisance fires, fire crime, bonfires More precise definitions to be developed during the project by the partners

5. Key Actions 1. Assemble existing information on fire risk assessment and management Project partners Questionnaire surveys 2. Develop fire risk assessment framework solutions Accidental, Natural and Social Fire Risk Framework Models Agriculture, Forestry, Industrial/Commercial, Domestic 3. Stimulate permanent and ongoing collaboration between fire professionals 4. Develop interactive learning tools to facilitate promotion and dissemination of the risk assessment frameworks

Creation of an exemplary electronic web-based portal to facilitate EU-wide exchange of best practice 3. Creation of online training modules teaching the frameworks and principles developed to others 4. Delivery of a European conference Hosted in Northumberland, England Co-organised by all partners Dissemination and discussion of the project work 5. Final project report
