In November B&B Italia shall publish three new editions of the catalogues - Maxalto, The Collection and B&B Italia Project - three volumes designed to introduce products and discuss the evolution of collections. The new Maxalto catalogue is a picture story in which rigorous architecture and discreet sophistication is the backdrop for new furnishings and historical items - the ideal setting to make the most of the Maxalto Collection s lifestyle, atmosphere and product details. Since the company was formed in 1975, the collection has reprocessed classical themes in a contemporary way, ensuring the highest wood processing quality standards. Designed both for living areas and bedrooms, Maxalto interiors offer detailed solutions for a wide range of furnishing requirements. Over the years, the collection has sharpened the perception of several interior designers and architects who, inspired by Maxalto furnishings, have created rooms that are charged with a contemporary, elegant and minimalist personality. Maxalto The Collection is the latest prestigious book that presents B&B Italia furnishings for living areas and bedrooms. Furnishings portrayed in their ideal interiors and still life pictures describe the details of products grouped by category, and the various furnishing solutions. The Collection The new B&B Italia Project catalogue is proposed as a project concept and picture gallery of some successful interiors furnished with products in the Project range. Designed, planned and engineered for the contract segment, B&B Italia s Project collection proposes a range of tables, chairs and padded seats created by international designers to furnish offices, restaurants, hotels and public spaces. Charles-Outdoor (2010) Charles debut the ultimate outdoor version Charles (1997) P. 3/11 Designed in 1997 by Antonio Citterio, Charles owes its outstanding success both to its formal aesthetics and to the innovative research entailed in its creation. These values are intrinsic to B&B Italia s corporate and creative vision and realized at their highest level in all the Charles products. Thirteen years after making its debut in the B&B Italia collection, Charles - a long-time bestseller for the company - is being introduced in a new outdoor version. Characteristics that made it a classic of simply contemporary taste have been left unchanged. The system will have the same rigorous, timeless look, slim frame, flexibility and essential design of the inverted L shape aluminium feet.
The structural volume has been reduced to a minimum and lightened by the aluminium frame and an external surface created by a regular, right-angled open weave in polypropylene bands. The dove grey bands match the fabric covers of both seat cushions and back cushions, which can mirror the neutral shade of the frame or coordinate with lively, brilliant colours inserted in this new outdoor fabric collection. Charles, even in its outdoor version, reconfirms B&B Italia s intention to interpret contemporary trends by proposing timeless products that are dedicated to an international target. P. 4/11
EVENTS ROME, Permanent Maxxi Exhibition B&B Italia s sofa Moon System, designed by the Iranian architect Zaha Hadid in 2007, welcomes visitors at the entrance to the Maxxi Exhibition in Rome, National Museum of 21st Century Arts. The sofa expresses the happy convergence of B&B Italia s typical inclination to experiment along with long-standing research conducted by Zaha Hadid on the complexity of curved geometrics. Metallised to recall an object fallen from space, Moon System is a monoblock unit containing back, seat and armrest that give the impression of being carved into the same block.
