DEMOLITION LEGEND 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. The base site plan is based on the Topographic & Boundary Survey dated 5/23/12, prepared by R.W. Davis & Associate Land Surveyors. Base information and utility locations may not be accurate and have not been verified by Landscape Architect. It is the contractor's responsibility to test and verify the location of all utility lines, vaults, and boxes prior to demolition and construction. Report any conflicts or discrepancies to Landscape Architect prior to demolition/construction. If discrepancies/conflicts arise and the contractor does not report to the Landscape Architect before commencement of work, any necessary repairs or replacement of walls, paving, utilites, clean outs, catch basins, site furniture, existing to remain vegetation, etc. will be the contractor's sole responsibility. The Contractor shall be responsible for repair or replacement of any walls, paving, utilites, clean outs, catch basins, site furniture, existing to remain vegetation, etc. meant to remain damaged or destroyed by him, his employees, or subcontractors at his own expense. The Contractor shall be responsible for coordination with electrical and plumbing work. See written specifications for complete requirements related to the demolition and removal of materials from the site. Mark area of demolition in the field for review and approval by Landscape Architect before proceeding with work. Protect existing catch basins from debris. Verify with Structural Engineer any precautions to be taken while demolishing portions of existing walls. Contractor shall protect existing utilities, trees, and site amenities to remain. 1. TREE PROTECTION NOTES 1. Protect existing trees scheduled to remain against injury, compaction of root zone, or injury due to cutting, breaking or skinning of roots, trunks, or branches smothering by stockpiled construction materials, excavated materials or vehicular traffic within drip line of trees. 2. No pruning of existing trees shall be completed without prior approval by the Landscape Architect. Great care is to be taken in excavation under tree canopies to avoid unnecessary damage to the root system or cutting of major structural roots. If major roots are encountered, the contractor shall immediately consult with an arborist and notify the Landscape Architect as to the recommended solution. 3. Protect trees to remain with temporary fence of six (6) foot high plastic or wire mesh, wired to 8 foot posts of 2" galvanized pipe, driven 2 feet minimum into the ground at the drip line beyond. 4. If any portion of the protective fence is in conflict with construction, that portion must be relocated, not removed. The fence may not be closer than 8 feet to the trunk of the tree. 5. No storage of materials to be allowed within the protective fencing. 6. All subcontractors should be warned in writing against disposing of any material other than clean water in any area beneath the canopy of the tree or within the protective fencing. 7. Trees severely damaged by construction operations, as determined by the Landscape Architect, must be replaced with tree species selected by Landscape Architect. Replacement tree must be of comparable size to damaged trees being replaced, at least 60" box trees. 8. Replacement of trees scheduled to remain and damaged by construction operations shall be at contractor's expense. 9. Contractor to take special care when working within drip line of trees. Use hand methods for all work to minimize potential root damage within the drip line of the existing to remain trees. Avoid cutting roots 21" diameter and greater. Date: 8/19/16 DEMOLITION NOTES Issue: Progress 10. Do not stockpile materials, store tools, clean equipment or tools within the drip line/root zone of existing vegetation to remain. 11. Maintain existing to remain vegetation in a healthy and vigorous growing condition. DEMOLITION 0 5' 10' 20' 30' rth o N L0.1A
