General information Check that the power supply at the installation site is 230 V (min. 198 V - max. 264 V). The unit installation must comply with all applicable local and national regulations. It is recommended to install a circuit breaker or a 10 A safety fuse upstream of the supply switch. The appliance must always be earthed. If an extension lead is needed (up to 25 m) make sure that the wire section is not less than 1.5 mm 2. Do not locate the air conditioner under dripping water (e.g.: clothes hung up to dry). IMPORTANT: Non-compliance with these safety standards constitutes a fire hazard in the event of a short-circuit. The manufacturer does not accept any liability if the safety standards are not observed. This unit complies with low-voltage (EEC/73/23) and electro-magnetic compatibility (EEC/89/336) directives. The unit is designed to operate within the following temperature limits: cooling with dehumidification: indoor temp. min. 21 C; 50% r.h. - max. 35 C; 60% r.h. dehumidification: min. 18 C; 65% r.h. - max. 27 C; 80% r.h. Correct use Inspect equipment for damage due to improper transportation or handling: In case of damage file an immediate claim with the shipping company. Do not use damaged equipment. In case of a malfunction turn the unit off, disconnect the plug from the power socket and contact a qualified service engineer. Use the unit only for factory approved applications. This equipment contains coolant. Maintenance of the refrigerant circuit must be carried out by qualified personnel only. All of the manufacturing and packaging materials used for your new appliance are compatible with the environment and can be recycled. Dispose of the packaging material in accordance with local requirements. This equipment contains coolant that must be disposed of in a proper manner. When disposing of the unit after its operational life, remove it carefully. The unit must then be delivered to an appropriate disposal center or to the original equipment dealer, for proper environmentally friendly disposal. IMPORTANT: for UK only The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code: Green-and-Yellow: Earth Blue : Neutral Brown : Live As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows: The wire which is coloured green-andyellow must be connected to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter E or by the earth symbol or coloured green or green-and-yellow. The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured black. The wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red. IMPORTANT At first start-up of the unit proceed as follows: take out the water tank at the rear of the air conditioner remove the adhesive tape strip replace the tank correctly in its position If the above procedure is not followed, the unit will not operate and indicate a fault. The unit is equipped with rollers to facilitate relocation. It is recommended to move the unit holding the front panel as illustrated. 5 MIN. Always disconnect the cable from the power socket before moving or cleaning the unit. Never use the plug to switch the unit on or off. When switching off or moving the unit to another place wait at least 5 minutes before restarting the air conditioner. Do not obstruct the sides and rear grille with curtains or other objects. Leave at least 200 mm space from possible obstructions around the intake grilles. Do not put objects on the unit. GB - 2

Correct use ENGLISH B B A A To change the room temperature turn: the thermostat knob clockwise to lower the temperature and counterclockwise to raise it. The flexible hose supplied with the unit should be inserted into the holes marked A and B at the back of the unit, as required. The hose end labelled A should only be inserted in position A on the unit. When the unit is not in use it is recommended to position the hose as shown in the figure. 10 60 Adjusting the air flow direction The air conditioner has a guide vane at the top that can be adjusted to any angle between 10 (partially closed) and 60 (fully open). Depending on the angle, the air flow direction changes as shown. NEVER use the air conditioner with the guide vane closed. When the unit is not in use, coil the power cord and hang it on the hook supplied. Air Quality Filter (if included) The Air Quality Filter permits to obtain cleaner air, purified from pollen, bacteria, tobacco smoke etc. Accessory (not included) If required, the air conditioner can be installed through a porthole in the window or through a hole in the wall. This accessory is available separately. GB - 3

Cooling with dehumidification 1 2 3 Remove the left-hand end of the flexible hose from its storage position. Attach the air outlet vent to the end of the flexible tube. Move the air conditioner close to the window, stretching the hose as little as possible (max. extension 1100 mm). Place the air outlet end of the flexible hose outside the window. 4 5 6 Make sure that the tube is not kinked or curved too tightly. Hold the hose end in position with the fastening strap and suction cup. Plug the unit in. Open the air flow direction guide vane. 7 8 9 The unit is now ready for cooling. Ensure that the warm air discharged from the end of the hose is not obstructed. Turn the mode selector to cooling or to cooling. The cooling mode indicator light on the control panel is illuminated. GB - 4

Cooling with dehumidification 10 11 12 ENGLISH Set the thermostat to maximum cooling by turning the control knob clockwise. When the desired room temperature is reached turn the thermostat control knob counterclockwise until the compressor switches off. In this way the desired room temperature is automatically maintained. To switch the unit off, turn the mode selector counterclockwise to the symbol. Dehumidification 1 2 A B The dehumidification only function should be used if you want to remove moisture from the room air without lowering the temperature. The flexible hose should be positioned in one of the following ways: A - with both hose ends inserted in the appropriate holes. In this case the unit must be placed at least 500 mm away from the wall, as the air will be discharged at the front and the back B - vertical direction. In this case the air will be discharged from the front and from the top part of the hose. 3 4 5 Plug the unit in. Open the air flow direction guide vane. Turn the mode selector to the dehumidification symbol. The dehumidification indicator light on the control panel is illuminated. The air conditioner removes moisture from the air without lowering the temperature. GB - 5

Dehumidification 6 7 If the two red indicator lights on the control panel light up, this shows that the condensate water collection tank is full. If this is the case the unit automatically switches off. To empty the tank, switch the unit off by turning the mode selector to the symbol and remove the plug from the power supply socket. 8 9 5 MIN. Take out the full water tank on the rear side of the air conditioner and empty it. Then replace it correctly in its position. If the dehumidification mode is again required, plug in the unit and wait 5 minutes before again turning the mode selector to the dehumidification symbol. 10 11 In certain applications a floor drain may be provided and it may be easier to use the drain tube to remove the condensate water directly. Proceed as follows: pull out the 60 mm long condensate drain tube and remove the plug Connect the drain tube to the floor drain using a rubber tube. After use remember to put the plug into the drain tube and to replace the tube in its position. GB - 6

Fan only 1 2 3 ENGLISH If the air conditioner is to be used in the fan only mode (ventilation) the ends of the flexible hose should be inserted in the appropriate holes at the rear of the unit as shown. Plug the unit in. Open the air flow direction guide vane. Turn the mode selector to the high or low fan speed symbol. 4 5 The fan speed indicator light on the control panel is illuminated. The unit will now operate in the fan only mode. The room air is drawn in through the side grilles of the air conditioner, filtered and cleaned and then returned to the room through the front and rear air supply grilles. Cleaning Periodically clean the air filters in the sides of the unit. To pull out the filters from their position use the tab on the outside edge. To clean the filters use a vacuum cleaner then rinse and dry the filters. Reinsert the filters correctly in their position. PETROL To clean the appliance use only a damp cloth and soap. Never use spray or flammable liquids. If the unit is not used for extended periods: Empty the remaining condensate water through the drain tube at the back of the unit. Clean the filters. Insert both ends of the flexible hose into the appropriate holes. Cover the air conditioner with a bag. GB - 7
