URBAN OASIS CONCEPT DESCRIPTION: Urban oasis is a public open space, park, or plaza which is located in between buildings or formed by surrounding buildings in an urban setting. It can exist in any kind of culture. Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) is a program that gives kids who are under served an equal chance to succeed through a comprehensive array of after-school academic, arts, athletics and wellness programs. HOLA campus is located in an area that is high crime rates that might cause some problems such as drug selling, or violent occurring when students go to or after class on campus. It is important to give students education, as well as their security. Since students live in the city of Los Angeles, too much concrete is around them already, greenspace is always a good element for kids to jump out of reality and find a good place to relax themselves. A space that enables kids to have fun and/or study--helping them to explore what they are capable of. Kids can always find themselves in a playful, flexible and welcoming place, having a campus that has a lot of greenspace and artistic spots can help to make their dreams come true.

To provide students shades that can help students or family to relax -Rounded seats under tree provides kids resting facility. PROJECT GOALS To provide a safe campus. -Supertree like decoration that provides kids canopy, and lights for safety. To provide an entertaining campus for students to have fun. -Piano steps for kids to have fun and explore their music talent.

OVERALL SUMMARY Throughout the projects I did this semester, I have learned a lot from them. Semester is longer than quarter but the more weeks we have, the more knowledge we can get. As new-ish landscape architecture students, pretty much everything was new for me, that I had to figured them out and find a way to deal with the problems. Such as how to do a diagrams, how to arrange a big poster to make it look better, how to take good photos on landscapes, etc. I have learned a lot of perspectives and skills from the instructor(keiji Uesugi) as well, without him I don t think I would have finished everything. I really enjoyed the semester even I had hard times on designing the project. But we had a lot of fun during the studio time, and the field trip in San Francisco, definitely one of the best study experiences I have had in my life.
