Entries received after the closing date will be accepted at the discretion of the show organisers. Fee 25p per class. All entry fees payable on show day (please do not send cash or cheques with your entry form). Summary of LHS Top Tray Requirements A collection of 3 types of vegetables from this list of 8, quantities of each kind are shown in brackets: Carrots (3), Cauliflower (2), Onions (3), Parsnips (3), Peas (6 pods), Potatoes (3), Runner beans (6 pods), Tomatoes (6). Judged out of 60 points (20 points for each type of vegetable - 7 for size, shape and colour: 7 for condition: 6 for uniformity.) Summary of LHS Top Vase Requirements A vase of mixed flowering stems containing a total of between 5 and 10 stems, taken from a minimum of two different kinds of plants. Flowers only - no seed heads, berries or accessories are allowed Judged out of 35 points - 25 for colour, form condition, quality and freshness, 10 points for overall presentation and effect, viewed from all directions. COLLECTIONS OF FRUIT: The numbers of fruits per dish of one kind of fruit to be as follows: soft fruit: 12, stone fruit 5, melon 1, grapes 1 bunch and all other fruits 3. Two varieties of the same plant are not two kinds. Class 108 Chocolate Brownie recipe by Mary Berry 275g (10oz) softened butter 375g (13 oz} caster sugar 4 large eggs 75g (3oz) cocoa powder 100g (4oz) self raising flour 100g (4oz) plain chocolate chips Pre heat oven to 180C/ fan 160C / gas 4. Grease and line a tray 30cm x 23cm x 4cm / 12in x 9in x 1½in. Put all ingredients in bowl and mix until evenly blended. Spread in tray and bake for 40-45 minutes until brownies have a crusty top. Cover with foil for the last 10 minutes if browning too much. Allow to cool in tin before cutting into 24 pieces. Store in a tin. Class 111 Date and walnut loaf cake 110g (4 oz) chopped dates 225ml boiling water 225g (8 oz) self raising flour 115g (4 oz) sugar 55g (2 oz) butter 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 55g (2 oz) chopped walnuts 1 egg, beaten Place dates and butter in a bowl with boiling water and bicarbonate of soda. Mix with wooden spoon to ensure all butter has melted and dates plump up. Allow to cool. In mixing bowl, combine self raising flour, walnuts and sugar, then add to cooled basin of dates, butter, water and bicarbonate. Mix well with wooden spoon and add beaten egg. Spoon the mixture into a lined 900g (2 lb) loaf tin. Bake for 60 to 75 minutes depending on oven at 170 C / Gas 3 / Fan 150 C. Leave to cool on a wire rack.
