RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK DO NOT OPEN CAUTION : TO REDUCE THE RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NOT REMOVE COVER (OR BACK). NO USER-SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE, REFER SERVICING TO QUALI- FIED SERVICE PERSONNEL. The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol, within an equilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated "dangerous voltage" within the product's enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons. The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to presence of important operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the literature accompanying the appliance. The symbol for Class II (Double Insulation) WARNING To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose this appliance to rain or moisture. The apparatus should not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus. The ventilation should not be impeded by covering the ventilation openings with items, such as newspapers, table-cloths, curtains, etc. No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the apparatus. The mains plug is used as the disconnect device, the disconnect device should remain readily operable. In order to disconnect he apparatus from the mains completely, the mains plug should be disconnected from the mains socket outlet completely. FOR UK ONLY For your own safety read following instructions carefully before attempting to connect this alarm clock radio to the mains. Mains Supply 220V - 240V~ 50Hz - AC only This unit is designed to operate on a 220V-240V~ 50Hz supply only. Connecting it to other power sources may damage it. Ensure that the supply corresponds to the information on the rating label on the rear panel of the unit. This component system may be fitted with a non-rewireable plug. If it is necessary to change the fuse in a non-rewireable plug the fuse over must be refitted. If the fuse cover becomes lost or damaged, the plug must not be used until a replacement, available from the manufacturer, is obtained. It is important that the colour of the replacement fuse cover corresponds with the colour marking on the base of the plug. If the plug needs to be changed because it is not suitable for your socket, or becomes damaged, it should be cut off and an appropriate plug fitted following the wiring instructions below. The plug must then be disposed of safely, as insertion into a 13A socket is likely to cause an electrical hazard. IMPORTANT The wires in the mains plug should be connected as shown in the diagram. The colours of the wires in the mains lead of the unit may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug. Connect them as follows:- The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured black. FUSE The wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the BLUE (NEUTRAL) terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red. There should be no connectin to the earth terminal of your BROWN plug. (LIVE) If a 13 Amp (BS1363) Plug is used, a 3 Amp Fuse must be OUTER fitted, or if any other type of Plug is used a 3 Amp or 5 Amp SLEEVE CORD GRIP Fuse must be fitted, either in the Plug or Adaptor, or on the Distribution Board. If it does not, consult your dealer or service organization. - Connect the power cord to the wall outlet of AC power supply. As soon as you insert the power plug into the wall outlet, the display time will flash and show. (Assuming there is no battery for backup or battery is weak). As soon as the power supply returns, will flash and display, indicating that you must reset the correct time. BATTERY BACK-UP SYSTEM 1. Open the battery compartment cover by removing the screw, then slide the battery cover out. 2. Insert 2 AA batteries into the battery compartment. In the event of a power failure, the batteries will provide sufficient power to maintain the time. When AC power is restored, the correct time will be restored and will not require resetting. Neither the display nor the unit will operate until the unit is connected to an AC outlet. BATTERY WILL ONLY RESTORE CLOCK SETTINGS WHEN AC POWER IS RESTORED. Replace the battery once per year. The service of the battery depends on how often and for how long the power supply fails. This varies from one region to another. Note: 1. Always check the time and reset if necessary when first time connecting AC mains or after a power failure. 2. The 2 batteries are used for backing up the time in case of AC mains power failure, under this circumstance, do not attempt to operate the unit, otherwise, battery service life will be reduced. BATTERY PRECAUTIONS Follow these precautions when using batteries in this device: 1. Do not attempt to recharge, short-circuit, disassemble, heat or throw the batteries into a fire. 2. Do not mix old and new batteries. 3. Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (nickel cadmium) batteries. 4. If the device is not to be used for a long period of time, remove the batteries to prevent damage or injury from possible battery leakage. 5.
