Instruction Sheet 9-7 AG-900 Guns Page For AG-900 Guns INTRODUCTION The Nordson is designed for use with AG-900 or other dispensing guns - especially those equipped with extended nozzles - in robotic applications where stable temperature control is required between gun trigger cycles. The consists of a cannister with an open channel at its center and two cartridge heaters connected via cordset and RTD to an external temperature controller. The can be secured to any convenient horizontal or vertical base using the mounting bracket at the bottom of the cannister. INSTALLATION. Secure the in place near the point of application so that the gun nozzle will spend a minimum of time between the and gun triggering point where heated material is delivered. Mounting holes are provided in the Nozzle Heater bracket. 2. Connect the cordset to the external temperature control device. 3. Configure the robotic cycle so that the gun nozzle is inserted squarely into the orifice of the between gun triggers.. Bring the system up to application temperature and begin normal operation. Consult with your Nordson representative for answers to specific installation questions. OPERATION After setting the temperature on the external temperature controller, the remains stationary and requires no further attention. Publication No. 08 69A 0 Nordson Corporation 992 Issued 3/92

If a malfunction has occurred, refer to Section of the AG-900 manual for troubleshooting advice. If the malfunction is not covered there, or if there is question about the proper course of action, contact your Nordson representative. Read the entire procedure while at the unit and become familiar with the required steps. It may be necessary to refer to the illustrated parts lists for exact component locations, sizes, etc. Various items in the procedures are cross-referenced to the list to simplify matters. Be sure the required tools, replacement parts and service items are at hand. Read and follow all safety precautions in Section and in this section. Safety Precautions A A 5 WARNING: Wear safety glasses, safety gloves (P/N 902 5) and long-sleeved protective clothing to prevent injury from hot processor parts, hot gun surfaces and splashed hot melt material. WARNING: This equipment contains energized electrical potentials that could be fatal. Disconnect and lock out input electrical power from the unit before removing panels or performing these procedures. Failure to do could result in personal injury and equipment damage. Either or both heaters may be replaced separately. The RTD may also be replaced without replacing the entire cordset.. Halt robotic arm operation at a point where the gun is free of the. 2. Disconnect and lock out input electrical power from the Nozzle Heater. Unplug the cordset plug from the processor (or extension cable), then remove the from its base. Remove the porcelain wire connectors (9) that secure heater or RTD leads to the cordset leads, separate the leads, then pull the heaters (8) or RTD (9) from the body (2). Reassembly is the reverse of the above steps. Note however: To coat the heaters and RTD with thermal joint compound (5) before reassembly. To coat the slotted pan head screws with Never Seez lubricant (3) before reassembly. ILLUSTRATED PARTS LIST. First, locate the desired component within an illustration and note its item number. 2. Referring to the parts list for that illustration, locate the item number in the Item No. column. 3. The next three columns give the Part Number, Description and Required quantity of the item in the assembly. a. The Part Number column contains either the six-digit part number or a dash (-). A dash indicates that the part is a nonsaleable item, and cannot be ordered. Publication No. 08 69A 0 Nordson Corporation 992 Issued 3/92
