LIMITED WARRANTY STATEMENT Unless otherwise specified, all commercial cooking equipment manufactured by Wells Manufacturing is warrantied against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of original installation or 18 months from the date of shipment from our factory, whichever comes first, and is for the benefit of the original purchaser only. This warranty is the complete and only warranty, expressed or implied in law, or in fact, including but not limited to, warranties of merchantability or fitness for any particular purpose, and/or for direct, indirect, or consequential damages in connection with Wells products. This warranty is void if it is determined that, upon inspection by an authorized service agency, the equipment has been modified, misused, misapplied, improperly installed, or damaged in transit or by fire, flood or act of God. It also does not apply if the serial nameplate has been removed, or if service is performed by unauthorized personnel. The prices charged by Wells Manufacturing for its products are based upon the limitations in this warranty. Seller s obligation under this warranty is limited to the repair of defects without charge by a Wells Manufacturing factory authorized service agency or one of its sub-service agencies. This service will be provided on customer s premises for non-portable models. Portable models [see list of portable models below] must be taken or shipped to the closest authorized service agency, transportation charges prepaid, for service. In addition to restrictions contained in this warranty, specific limitations are shown in the Service Policy and Procedure Guide. Wells Manufacturing authorized service agencies are located in principal cities. This warranty is valid in the United States and Canada and void elsewhere. Please consult your telephone directory, your foodservice equipment dealer, or contact Wells Manufacturing directly for information and other details concerning warranty. PARTS WARRANTY All genuine Wells replacement parts are warrantied for ninety [90] days from date of purchase on non-warranty equipment. This parts warranty is limited only to replacement of the defective part[s]. Any use of non-genuine Wells parts completely voids any warranty. SAFETY INFORMATION This equipment is designed and sold for commercial use only, and is intended for use by personnel trained and experienced in its operation. This is not sold for consumer use in and around the home nor for use directly by the general public in food service locations. Before using your new equipment, read and understand all the instructions and labels associated with the unit prior to putting it into operation. Make sure all people associated with its use understand the units operation and safety before they use the unit. If at any point the glass on the unit cracks, immediately power down the unit, unplug it, and contact a service agent. The proper size and type of cookware must be used at all times with these units. The cookware must be specially designed to use with induction ranges for safe and efficient use and should be labeled as such when purchased. The cookware must also be free of damage to the base, whether the function appears to be impaired or not. The base of the pan or pot should be at least 4.75 in. (127 mm) and no larger than 10.5 in. (267 mm) in base diameter. When possible a pan that covers the entire cooking zone should be used. The pan will always need to be placed in the center of the cooking zone. Metal utensils such as spoons should not be used in conjunction with these units. Nothing other than approved cookware should ever be placed on or near the unit. Anyone using the unit should keep a minimum of 2 4 inches (51 102 mm) of space between them and the cooking zone whenever possible. It is recommended that you keep this distance at minimum whenever the unit is powered on. Failure to do so may result in addition exposure to magnetic field. Any metallic jewelry or piercings, including rings, which can be affected by magnetic fields as well as eye glasses, watches, clothing with magnetic metal pieces, and electronic devices should not be placed near or come in contact with the unit. Potential users who have or may have any of the conditions described below should consult their physician before using or being in close proximity to an induction unit. In any case, keeping a safe distance from the unit will prevent potentially harmful leakage current from flowing through your body and interfering with implanted devices and/or causing bodily harm. Factors which should be discussed with a physician prior to use or work done in proximity cardiac pacemaker, insulin pump, implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, cochlear implants, intra-cranial vascular clip[s], or other implantable medical devices and systems pregnancy metallic foreign bodies such as shrapnel or components used in reconstructive surgery Triggerfish contact lenses and similar medical data recording equipment Never touch the heating zone when the unit is powered on or has recently been in use. Flammable materials should be kept away from the unit. Always turn the unit off when not being used or when unattended. Failure to comply with any and all warnings and instructions can and will potentially result in personal injury or damage to the unit. 2

GENERAL INSTALLATION INFORMATION The unit is shipped fully assembled and ready to plug into a standard outlet specified for its voltage and amp draw. If improper electrical supply can be determined through troubleshooting, contact a qualified electrician prior to using the unit. Removal or replacement of the power cord or plug will void the warranty. Should you require assistance, contact your local authorized service agent for any service or required maintenance. Allow enough space around the unit for adequate ventilation and make certain the cooling fan is not blocked. It is required that you leave at least a four [4] inches (102 mm) gap on each side. The drop-in design of this unit also necessitates a lower baffle to direct airflow and at least a four [4] inch (102 mm) gap underneath. Additional space from extremely hot devices is recommended as this unit s intake air temperature cannot exceed 104 F (40 C). Doing so will result in damage to the unit. Make certain this unit is not located near other appliances which may produce grease vapor, such as fryers, griddles, etc. In the event this is unavoidable, ducting will be necessary to supply this unit with an adequate amount of clean, cool air. For further, detailed information on installation of this unit, please refer to the provided installation instructions. Before using the unit for the first time, ensure to clean it properly. Refer to the Cleaning section for cleaning instructions. ELECTRICAL CONNECTION Before making any electrical connection to this unit, check that the power supply is adequate for the voltage, amperage, and requirements stated on the rating plate. These units will utilize a factory attached 6-20P plug and will require a 6-20R receptacle. Make certain to disconnect the unit from the power source before installing or removing any parts as this is a high voltage unit. Be absolutely sure that the ground connection for the receptacle is properly wired. Do not connect equipment to power without proper ground connections. Improper grounding may result in personal injury or fatality. DO NOT CUT OR REMOVE THE PLUG OR GROUNDING PRONG FROM THE PLUG. CONNECT/PLUG UNIT INTO DEDICATED AC LINE ONLY SPECIFIED ON THE DATA PLATE OF THE UNIT. DO NOT HOSE DOWN THE UNIT OR THE TABLE/COUNTER IF THE UNIT IS ON THE TABLE/COUNTER. DO NOT IMMERSE OR LET THE UNIT STAND IN WATER. MAKE CERTAIN THE UNIT IS POWERED OFF AND UNPLUGGED PRIOR TO ANY REPAIRS OR MOVEMENT. OPERATION CERTAIN SURFACES ARE EXTREMELY HOT DURING OPERATION AND CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN WHILE USING THIS UNIT. DO NOT LEAVE THE UNIT IN OPERATION WITHOUT AN ATTENDANT. DO NOT LEAVE THE UNIT ON DURING IDLE PERIODS. DO NOT CYCLE THE POWER QUICKLY ON AND OFF AS THIS MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE UNIT OVER TIME. MAKE CERTAIN TO READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS AND WARNINGS CONTAINED WITHIN THIS MANUAL IN FULL, PRIOR TO USE. KEEP PAPER AND OTHER MATERIALS THAT CAN BLOCK THE FAN AWAY FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE UNIT. DAILY USE i. Make sure the dial indicator is at the off position [pointing straight up] and plug the unit into an appropriate power outlet. ii. Place an appropriate pot or pan onto the cooking zone. [an error code will appear if there is no pan or an incorrect type of pan placed on the unit] iii. Adjust the knob slowly to the desired heat setting while making certain that there are no error codes present. If there are any error codes, record the code[s], immediately turn the unit to the off position and remove power to the unit, and consult the troubleshooting section of the manual before proceeding. iv. Once done cooking, turn the knob back to the off position and at the end of day, remove power from the unit. MAINTENANCE The unit should be inspected by an authorized agent at least once per year. Anything other than standard cleaning procedures should be performed by authorized service agents only. The inside of this unit has no user-serviceable parts. DO NOT USE COARSE SPONGES/PADS WHICH WILL SCRATCH THE FINISH. DO NOT USE CAUSTIC CLEANERS, DEGREASERS, FLAMMABLE CLEANERS, OR ANY OTHER CLEANER WHICH CAN DAMAGE THE COOKING AREA SURFACE. DO NOT IMMERSE THE UNIT IN WATER. DO NOT ALLOW ANY CLEANER OR LIQUID TO COLLECT ON THE TOP OF THE UNIT. DO NOT HOSE DOWN THE UNIT OR THE TABLE/COUNTER THE UNIT IS MOUNTED IN. CLEANING & MAINTENANCE CLEANING PROCEDURE Preventive maintenance consists of the following recommended cleaning procedures. To keep your unit in its best operating condition, these steps should be performed on a daily basis as required. The cooking area must be kept clean for the unit to function properly. i. Turn the unit off, unplug it from the power source, and allow it to cool completely. ii. Once cool, begin by using a soft, slightly damp sponge to wipe away and spilled food and debris. If there is any hardened residue, use a scraper or cleaning pad made specifically for glass/ceramic surfaces and an appropriate glass/ceramic cooktop cleaning solution. iii. Wipe down the surface with glass/ceramic cooktop cleaner and a soft cloth. A small amount of vinegar can be used to clean away water spots and light stains. iv. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the surface and remove any remaining cleaner/liquid. v. While cleaning the unit, make certain to examine the screen on the fresh air intake located on the bottom of the unit and clean as needed. This must stay clear of blockages in order for the unit to function properly. vi. TROUBLESHOOTING If the unit does not initially power on, make certain the unit is plugged in properly and that the power supply is the correct voltage and amperage to support operation of the unit. If problems occur with no code displayed, please contact an authorized service agent or technical service.
