SR 504, Section No. 32.2.3.4.1, See SR 504 Affirmative with Comment 1 Roland A. Asp I am voting affirmative on this second revision only based upon on the language accepted in FR 502. It would be better to recognize that an automatic fire sprinkler system provides an appropriate means for initiating a fire alarm system where required and should be an acceptable alternative to a manual fire alarm..unfortunately FR 502 states automatic sprinkler system installed throughout building. As NFPA 13D does not require sprinklers in all areas of a building, it may be misunderstood that a NFPA 13D system (with the permitted areas with sprinklers omitted) is in fact considered installed throughout building. SR 505, Section No. 32.2.3.4.2, See SR 505 Affirmative with Comment 1 Page 2 of 8

Negative 1 John A. Rickard This change removes "lounge areas" from the text but this language remains in the annex note. The code text needs to clearly indicate whether lounge/living areas within the sleeping suite must be separated from the sleeping area. SR 508, Section No. 32.3.3.8.2, See SR 508 Negative 1 Randy S. McDermott "and the presence of the equipment shall not require the area to be protected as a hazardous area" seems unnecessary. Also should testing requirement be listed. Roland A. Asp See my comments on SR 504 and 505. An automatic sprinkler system should be recognized an appropriate means for initiating a fire alarm system where required and should be an acceptable alternative to a manual fire alarm. SR 513, Section No. 33.2.3.4.2, See SR 513 Affirmative with Comment 1 Roland A. Asp See my comments on SR 504,505 and 512. An automatic sprinkler system should be recognized an appropriate means for initiating a fire alarm system where required and should be an acceptable alternative to a manual fire alarm however the language accepted in FR 504 included the wording "throughout the building" which could lead to misinterpretation and is not consistent with the installation standards. see PC no. 165 SR 514, Sections 33.2.3.4.4.6, 33.2.3.4.4.7, See SR 514 Page 6 of 8

The reference should be corrected before this language is added to the code. SR 516, Section No. 32.2.3.5.8, See SR 516 Page 7 of 8
Negative 1 Peter A. Larrimer NFPA 25 2017 Edition was not published at the time of the meeting such that the committee could read the material on which they were voting. We should not be accepting code changes when we haven't seen the material. SR 518, Section No. 32.3.3.8.3, See SR 518 SR 517, Section No. 33.2.3.5.8, See SR 517 Page 8 of 8
