1. General information 1. General information The Small GT is an air - water heat pump that allows preparation of domestic hot water for up to 6 persons (assuming a single person is using 50 liters of DHW per day, not all at once). The maximum temperature of domestic hot water that can be provided by the heat pump is 50 C. However, bearing in mind the most economical use of the pump, it is recommended that the temperature for domestic hot water be set below 45 C, as using it at higher temperatures will increase the cost of use and the heat pump heating elements will wear down faster. Water temperature that exceeds 50 C can cause serious tissue damage. Special attention should be paid to avoid burns while the heated water is used by the children, the disabled or elderly people. Please read this instruction manual for the device. Using this device contrary to the instructions may void the warranty and cause permanent damage to the device. Installation and start-up of the heat pump is to be done by an installer with appropriate qualifications or a manufacturer approved service centre. Otherwise, a warranty for the device will not be granted. This device is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacity, as well as people without experience or knowledge of such equipment, except when this is done under supervision or in accordance with the instructions for use of the device provided by a person responsible for their safety. The device should be installed in accordance with good construction practice, as well as regulations and standards in force in the particular country. This device is designed to be installed indoors. The Small GT heat pump 1.92 kw is a supporting source of domestic water heating. In periods of high demand for DHW, the user must be able to prepare hot water with the primary heating source (ie boiler, electric heater, etc.). To optimize the time required for water heating, a tank with capacity of 100 to 250 liters is recommended. 1.1 Device description The Small GT heat pump is designed to be connected to the tank of an existing installation, includes one heat generator and an optional electric heater (which can be connected to the tank), which makes it possible to collect heat in the tank of a working installation and heat it to a desired temperature. The heat pump takes heat from the surrounding air and uses it to heat water in the tank. The heat pump can also be connected to air ducts, but their diameter cannot be less than 160 mm. During operation, the heat pump removes moisture from the room and it is normal that water condensate forms. The return pipe for it is located under the device and is to be placed in the drain. 1.2 Proper operation The heat pump is used to collect energy from the air in the room, or a room to which ducts are connected, and transfers energy to the domestic hot water tank. 1.3 Improper operation It is prohibited to: 1. Use fat-containing air. 2. Use the device to heat other liquids than domestic hot water. 3. Install the device: - outdoors, - in rooms exposed to freezing, - in rooms exposed to dust, gases or flammable vapors. 4. Operate the device: with its accumulator tank empty; with its coil unfilled; at a temperature below +7 C. 1.4 Heating times Device used as a heat pump: Air temperature Cold water temp. Heating time * +20 C +15 C 4,5 h +10 C +15 C 5,5 h +7 C +15 C 6,0 h * Time to heat up the water to 45 C 1.5 Coil The heat pump can function with any type of tank equipped with a coil, but the coil s surface cannot be less than 1 m 2. Before turning the heat pump on, connect the tank and bleed air from that system with the vent in the upper part of the housing. All rights reserved - Galmet Sp. z o.o. Sp. Regularly check the connection between the plug, socket and earthing; 2. In cold regions (with temperatures below 0 ), in case of the system being turned off for a long time, empty the water to prevent it from freezing and damaging the internal tank of the heater; 3. For the device to operate efficiently, it is recommended that the inner tank and heater be cleaned regularly; 4. If the parameters of outgoing water are sufficient, it is recommended that a lower temperature be set to reduce heat emission, prevent the formation of scale and save energy; 5. The air filter is to be cleaned every month and the evaporator at least once a year; 6. Before shutting down the unit for a long time the power supply is to be disconnected, water drained from the tank and pipes, and all valves closed. Internal components should also be checked regularly. 1.8 Checking and moving the device When the package is delivered, the packaging should be checked for damage. If such damage is present, the carrier should be immediately informed. When moving the device, consider the following: 1. The device is delicate, move with great caution. The device should be kept upright, so that the compressor is not subject to damage. 2. Before moving the device, check that there are no obstacles on the way to the place of installation. 3. The device should be moved in its original packaging. 4. When lifting the device, always use protectors to avoid damage to belts and pay particular attention to the balance of the device. 4 Installation and operation manual of the Small GT heat pump All rights reserved - Galmet Sp. z o.o. 3. Installation 3.1 Installing the pump inside a building The heat pump cannot be installed in such a way that a service person cannot reach the unit s compressor and at least one of the walls of the device must be accessible. The minimum distance from the wall should be 40 cm. The minimum area required for installation of the heat pump is 2 x 2 m (4 m 2 ) and the height of the room is to be above 2,2 m. In case the device is installed without exhaust ducts for transferring air outside, a minimum level of ventilation of 350 m 3 /h must be ensured in the room. The minimum distance between the air inlet and air outlet ducts should be at least 1.5 m! The length of the straight inlet duct should not exceed 5 m. Each 90 bend has to be deducted from the overall duct length as 2 m. 3.2 Diagram for connecting the heat pump with a bivalent tank v. 1 Air inlet Air outlet DHW Controller Additional heat source Cold water inlet 6 Installation and operation manual of the Small GT heat pump All rights reserved - Galmet Sp. z o.o. 3. Installation 3.5 Wiring diagram for the device The electrical connection should be performed by a qualified electrician with a valid license. This should be noted in the catalogue and warranty card on the last page of this manual. The heat pump should be protected by a residual current circuit breaker and overload fuse. The overload fuse rating, depending on the electric power of the device, is given in the table below. Type of security device Type of heat pump B16 Small GT 09-242000 The device is connected to the electrical network using the connection cable. The wall socket must be grounded (protection pin). In case of incorrect operation of the device, shut down the system, unplug the power and consult your maintenance service. If the cord is damaged, it should be replaced with a special cord or a set available from the manufacturer or a specialised repair shop. 3.6 Schematic diagram of the device's electrical wiring Fan Fan Heater s cocket Compressor Net Compressor Fan Presostat Sensor Outdoor sens. 4. Troubleshooting 4. Niewłaściwa praca / 5. Karta przeglądu urządzenia Fault Cause Solution The outlet water is cold. Outlet water temperature is set too low. Increase the outlet water temperature. The display is off. Improper plug connection. Outlet water temperature controller failure. Temperature sensors don't show anything. Reinsert the plug. Check the connections in the rear of the controller. Contact the technical service. No hot water at outlet. Running water supply has been cut off. Water pressure too low. The water inlet valve is closed. Wait for the water supply to return. Operate at a higher water pressure. Open the valve at water inlet. Water leakage. Pipe connections are not sealed/tightened properly. Check and seal the connection. The heat pump cannot be operated without a thoroughly bled coil and without a connection to the heating system. If the coil is not connected, an expansion vessel with a capacity of 5 L is to be connected and a 6 bar safety valve installed, and the system is to be bled thoroughly. The bleeding vent is to be found on the plate heat exchanger inside the heat pump, according to the attached diagram. The symbol shown indicates that used electrical and electronic equipment cannot be disposed of together with other waste. These products must be returned to a designated point for collection of waste, where they will be processed. Proper disposal of electrical and electronic waste helps protect the environment and prevent adverse effects on human health. 5.
