We have endeavoured to focus on today s home, showing fireplaces that complement modern interior designs and aspirations. This brochure has been organised into six chapters, arranged by the different sizes of raised chamber fireplaces on offer. For small chimney breasts take a look at the 16 raised chamber fires, there are also two beautiful Agean Limestone suites, both shown on page 6. Following the 16 fires is a chapter showing the well proportioned 22 chamber options. The next three chapters outline the two larger raised chamber fires and show the various frame options available and how they can be combined with our contemporary fire baskets. The final chapter provides technical information relating to the various options offered, including choices of ceramics and other important decision affecting information. Of special interest is our new range of LB frames. The LB frames are available for each chamber size and are made from heavy gauge steel coated with a special durable finish, Quartzite, which gives the appearance of a carved and shaped stone slab. These are made from heavy gauge steel with our Quartzite finish. To suit this chamber size there are also three different one-piece trim finishes (page 3 opposite) and a further Jura frame, the LB-16 frame shown on page 5. The gas burner may be decorated with coal, pebble, driftwood, firewood or charcoal fuel effect ceramics. (See page 15 for ceramic options.) The four different sizes of internal chambers that house the fire are available in either brushed stainless steel or black. With the manual gas controls hidden behind the ventilated access panel, it is easy to introduce beautiful flickering flames to your home in seconds. The LB-22 frame comes in our Quartzite finish and has the look and feel of limestone (shown below). The trims are available in three finishes; black steel, brushed stainless steel and polished solid brass (shown opposite). The choice of brushed stainless steel and black stainless steel chamber is also available. This, allied with the ceramic options shown on page 15, provides you with a wealth of permutations from which to choose. The chamber shown housing the Sirocco basket below is brushed stainless steel with matching trim. Further trim options in black steel or polished solid brass can be combined with either a black or brushed steel internal chamber to create the desired look. The scale of this superb fireplace enables our stylish baskets to be introduced subtly into the interior design of your home. Shown opposite in the brushed stainless steel chamber, the statement made by the Strata Basket is bold and striking. Situated in a black chamber the Strata Basket gives the unique appearance of a hovering slab of flame. If you require fires for other chimney types please refer to your dealer. The fires shown in this brochure will provide limited heating and should be relied upon for the visual effect rather than as a source of heat. All of our fires have a choice of ceramic fuel as can be seen below, with coal coming as standard and the remainder as optional extras. The gas fire for the Cyclone can be ordered with coal or pebbles as standard. PEBBLES COAL FIREWOOD DRIFTWOOD CHARCOAL HEARTHS You may have noticed that not all products are shown with floor hearths. A hearth is a safety feature and is described in the Building Regulations very clearly for traditional fire types. As with most technological products, regulations take time to catch up with contemporary developments. There are differing views on whether a hearth is necessary or not in the raised chamber fireplace situation. The Building Regulations state that under some circumstances a hearth is not required, while in the same circumstances the CORGI regulations state that a hearth is required. So, it is for this reason that some products are shown with hearths and others are not, giving you an idea of what your set-up may be like. The ultimate arbiter of whether a hearth is required in your particular circumstances is your registered CORGI gas fitter, but for the avoidance of doubt we would recommend that a hearth is fitted. There are a number of different hearth options shown, some of which are bespoke. Regulations exist regarding the minimum dimensions for each fire, so please consult your retailer if you wish to purchase a bespoke hearth. 15

This is likely to be one of the more expensive alterations you make to your home and we hope that with the following information it will be an alteration you will be pleased with for years to come. There are three main areas to consider and these are detailed below in the following order: Gaining reassurance before you choose your Capital Collection Fireplace. Seeking the reassurance of a good installation before you have your Capital Collection Fireplace fitted. Understanding the aftercare and maintenance issues of your Capital Collection Fireplace. Reassurance before you choose your Capital Collection fireplace. All cast iron products are manufactured in ISO 9002 accredited manufacturing facilities. All the gas fires we supply are tested in accordance with CE requirements and are CE marked. Each stone mantel is inspected upon delivery to your retailer. Due to the manufacturing processes all measurements are approximate and may vary slightly so allow for a tolerance of +_ 10mm. In order to achieve some of the colour options, we plate the products using a variety of manufacturing processes. When we state that a product is Antique Brass finish or Chrome finish, there is no intention to mislead. The products are not brass or chrome respectively, they are simply plated to give that effect. Where we state that a finish is solid brass, that product is in fact solid brass. The colours shown in the brochures are as accurate as possible, but variations may occur. If the colour you require is critical, then please consult your retailer before basing all your decisions on the colours shown here. Your home may have a chimney type which will allow you to choose any of the fireplaces shown in the brochures. However, please consult the selection charts in the brochures and if you are not clear please consult your CORGI or HETAS registered installer or your retailer. Gas fires with a gas input of 6.9kW or less do not normally require air vents. There are some circumstances where vents may be required. 1- If the gas input is greater than 6.9kW 2- If the spillage test carried out by your CORGI installer indicates that one is required. This can apply to instances where the gas input is 6.9kW or less There are occasions when designs or products are altered or discontinued without prior notice (a reserved right), so if you are about to set your heart on a particular fireplace, please consult your retailer before making that final commitment. 17

3967_CAPITAL_CONTEMPORARY 13/9/06 2:30 pm Page 19 FOCUS ON QUALITY & AFTER CARE Reassurance before you commit to the installation of your Capital Collection Fireplace. It is a major project to have a new fireplace installed and it is good practice to try and prepare yourself as well as possible. All installations must be carried out in accordance with the requirements set out in the Building Regulation documents, in particular, Approved Document J. There are independent bodies which have been approved to carry out installations in accordance with these regulations. For gas installations the most recognised independent body is CORGI and for solid fuel installations it is HETAS. Please confirm with your retailer that your new fireplace will be installed appropriately. If you have your new fireplace fitted by a CORGI (gas) or HETAS (solid fuel) registered fitter you will be given a certificate stating that your installation has been carried out in accordance with the Building Regulations. If you do not have one of these certificates then you will have to arrange for your local Building Control Officer to inspect your installation and approve it. Your Capital Fireplace is made up of a number of different components and it is important to ensure that your installer not only meets the requirements above, but that he also has the necessary experience to fit ALL those components, for example a stone mantel. In the unlikely event that there is a defect in any of the products shown in this brochure, then a replacement will be supplied without hesitation. Of course, this requires the products to be fully inspected prior to installation as no responsibility for re-fitting or redecoration can be accepted if defective products have been installed. In this case and in the case of accidental damage after installation, in-situ repairs can be made by specialists, subject to prior agreement of terms with your retailer. Understanding your new Capital Collection Fireplace, its aftercare and maintenance. Gas Fires A gas fire is a technical piece of equipment and, just like a gas boiler, needs regular servicing. Please ensure that you have your gas fire serviced regularly by a CORGI registered installer. This will help you enjoy safe and trouble free enjoyment of your fireplace for years to come.
