1. Intended use Spoldosan is a hand-held shower holder and an ergonomic work-tool, which facilitates for patients, health care personnel and others when showering. Spoldosan can make it easier for disabled people to shower themselves. By height adjustment during installation Spoldosan becomes easy to use when showering sitting down and the risk of slipping or scalding is reduced. Spoldosan facilitates the flushing of stagnant water from pipes, shower hose and shower head, capturing and reducing the amount of water mist in the shower room which will lead to reduced risk of spreading of legionella bacteria and thereby reducing the risk of Legionnaires' disease and/or Pontiac fever during showering. Spoldosan can be used at home, in health care, hotels, schools, sports centres and public baths etc. +55: 2
2. Product description Spoldosan preventative function: In stagnant water in our water systems and at ambient temperatures, bacteria such as legionella, pseudomonas aeruginosa and mycrobacteria avium grow. They can cause pneumonia by inhalation of contaminated water aerosol from the shower. Legionella bacteria can also cause Pontiac fever which causes flu-like symptoms. Infection occurs by the inhalation of contaminated water aerosol. In order to become infected, inhalation must occur while having some form of weakening of the immune system. Source: Smittskyddsinstitutet (Swedish Institute for Communicable Disease Control) Endotoxins are formed from dead bacteria and can, after a shower, result in flu-like symptoms that clear up by themselves. Infection can be transmitted through contaminated water aerosol A condition for Spoldosan s preventative function is the correct water temperatures for both cold and hot after flushing (please refer to information about temperatures on page 6). When the amount of water aerosol decreases, the amount of bacteria in the shower room is reduced as well as the risk of infection. Follow local instructions when flushing. Preventative flushing of the shower is important to reduce the growth of bacteria in our water systems. Studies have shown that regular flushing for at least 5 minutes, reduces the amount of bacteria in the water system.
