Wall sconce fixtures shall be a minimum of 36-inches tall, and shall have a character consistent with examples shown. 3. Some spaces may include a tower, or other vertical feature. Such features are illuminated from the exterior but may also be illuminated from the interior. 4. General Design Guidelines (cont d) DESIGN EMBELLISHMENTS Building Embellishments will be constructed to mitigate the appearance of walls where openings are not possible due to operation limitations of the building (such as stockrooms, restrooms, kitchens, or merchandising walls). Building Embellishments create design elements that respond to the appropriate scale of the building (pedestrian or vehicular), convey the character of the space within, and contribute to the overall spirit of Prairiefire. 1. Building Embellishments will add texture, relief and shadow to the buildings. 2. A pallette of different elements will add diversity and interest to the pedestrian environment. Prairiefire - Design Guidelines - December 23, 2014 25

LANDSCAPING Prairiefire is surrounded by generous setbacks and its layout derives from the importance of the wetlands that border the museum and the Mixed-Use and Cultural Districts. Planting will reflect the natural environment of the Kansas prairie and shall contribute to a comfortable pedestrian experience. The perimeter includes a meandering hiking and bicycling path; planting shall include native grasses with subtle contours to reflect the Kansas prairie and will be designed to screen portions of the buildings, garages and utilities. Materials shall be installed to create an inviting environment that reaches maturity within a short period of time. Tree species will be continuous but unique for each type of street. Typical street tree spacing shall be one tree per 40 ; trees shall be minimum of 3 caliper. Plant materials may include: 2. Grasses a. Little Bluestem b. Big Bluestem c. Sideoats Grama d.
