1. ADVICE 1.1 Safety advice Before commencing installation PLEASE NOTE: The Dental Unit, to which the Dürr Motorsepa S 300 is to be connected to, must be switched off when installing and again checked when switching on after completion! Work on electrical equipment may only be carried out by qualified electrician's (per VBG4) or through our trained service technicians. With the combination of equipment, as well as the installation or repair of electrical parts, the relevant safety and testing regulations must be observed. (VDE 0100, 0105, 0107, 0750, 0751, IEC 364, 601-1, UVV- VBG 1,4,5,103 and MedGV, abroad the relevant regulations must be followed e.g. IEC,CEE). Medical product guideline 93/42/EWG German medical product law (MPG) With repairs only use original spare parts otherwise the quarantee and test certification will be invalidated. The DÜRR Motorsepa S 300 according to medical equipment regulations (MedGV) is a Group III apparatus, an energy driven medico-technical unit. removed, otherwise large particles (pieces of teeth, fillings etc.) can cause faults in the Motorsepa S 300. 1.3 Electrical safety check According to IEC 601-1, VDE 0751 an electrical safety check must be carried out after installation and commissioning, servicing, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment The test results must be documented and filed. 1.2 General advice Please note whether the drain of the Dental Unit has been laid correctly. Where deviations occur, necessary connection parts must be obtained from a sanitary specialist store or ordered from DÜRR DENTAL. The drain of the Motorsepa S 300 must be carried out according to the Installation Instructions. The Motorsepa S 300 must not be connected to the drain of hot water equipment. (Max. drainwater temp. 40 C) As on older Dental Units the drain hose can be very dirty or even brittle, the drain hose should be checked before the installation of the Motorsepa S 300 and if necessary changed for a new one. Check also whether the coarse filter e.g. in the spittoon is in position. The coarse filters must not be 12
2. DELIVERY SCHEDULE Motorsepa S 300 230 V~, 50-60 Hz (w/o transf.)... 7102-01 230 V~, 50-60 Hz (with transf.)... 7102-11 3. PURPOSE The Motorsepa S 300 is designed for one treatment place. The motor driven automatic separator S 300 has the task to separate secretion from the airstream. The advantage of the S 300 in comparison with ordinary separator systems is that the separation stage is driven b y a motor and thus ensures, irrespective of volume flow, constant separation of the air-water-secretion mixture. The S 300 separates the aspirated fluids and solids from the suction air via a two stage separation system with cyclonic separation and separation turbine. Without interruption of the suction performance the aspirated liquid is, via an integrated pump, safely sluiced through and led towards the drain. The air is fed back to the suction machine and then as exhaust air led outside. Even with a high liquid yield the suction is not interrupted - one can continue working continuously. The S 300 stands on rubber buffers, which reduce vibration and running noise, so that the noise level is reduced to a minimum. The Motorsepa is expecially suitable for prophylaxis workplaces, e.g. in the 12 o'clock position. The apparatus does not replace the suction machine and cannot separate amalgam particles. The S 300 offers the following advantages: 2 stage separation system with cyclonic separation and turbine separator, through which there is high safety against foam and liquid sweeping back into the suction machine. No interruption of the suction flow through overfilling or bloodfoam Little maintenance Simple installation 13
4. MODEL SURVEY Motorsepa S 300 Model 7102-01 (230 V, 50-60 Hz) w/o transf. Model 7102-11 (230 V, 50-60 Hz) with transf. 5. D I B A E C H G F 6. FUNCTION A Suction-connection B Vacuum-connection C Drain-connection D Place selection valve Everytime the suction hose is removed from the holder, the suction machine and the Motorsepa S 300 is switched on. Thus the air-water secretion mixture can be aspirated from the patient's mouth and via the secretion entrance A led towards the Motorsepa. The S 300 separates the aspirated liquid and solids from the suction air via a two-stage separation system with cyclonic separator and separation turbine. During the suction procedure the aspirated liquid is accelerated in the secrete entrance A and in the cyclone separator H turned into a spiral motion. The E Drain valve F Waste water pump G Separation turbine H Cyclone separator I Air channel created centrifugal forces fling the aspirated matter onto the outer wall. In this 1. stage a "coarse separation" of the liquid occurs in the cyclone separator H. The centrifuged liquid is pumped into the main drain via the drain valve E and drain connection C. In the 2. stage a "fine separation" of the remaining liquid matter, such as blood foam, occurs through the centrifugal forces created in the separation turbine G. The air then flows via the place selection valve D into the vacuum line to the suction machine. 15

INSTALLATION 7.1 Drain check Prior to the installation the drain must be checked: At least 1 litre/20 secs. With a clear drain, a backflow can be prevented. 7.2 Installation room The room temperature must not sink below 5 C in winter and not rise above 40 C in summer. 7.3 Installation site We recommend that the Motorsepa be installed in a well ventilated cabinet. Please ensure good accessability of the hose connections! With easy access the safety sieve (pos. 11, p.21) can easily be cleaned every 4 weeks. 8. PIPE MATERIAL Only the following pipe materials should be used: HT-Drainpipes made of polypropylene (PP), DIN V 19 560/09.92 (marked red, low flammable) or Geberit-pipes, Type PEh. Not to be used.: HT-Stabil pipes, DIN V 19 561/09.92 (marked yellow, normal flammable). These pipes are made of ABS/ASA-material and therefore not resistant against some of the medicines and solutions used in the Dental surgery. 9. IMPORTANT ADVICE FOR LAYING OF PIPES-/HOSES Laying drain pipelines must be carried out according to DIN 1986, pt.1 and 2 or according to the relevant regulations of the country concerned. The connection between the pipeline and the Motorsepa S 300 connection must be made with a flexible hose, at least 0.5 m long. Through this, vibration of the pipe system is prevented. Hoses must be laid stress free! 16
10. ELECTRICAL CONNECTION If the connection to the mains supply is made via the floor-or ceiling installation, an all-polar isolating device (an all-pole switch or all-pole line protection switch - fuse- with >3 mm contact opening width) must be built into the circuit. On the floor plate an earthing connection is present, which during an electrical malfunction prevents possible current flow across the housing endangering life and limb!
