DRYER DISPOSAL INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS Tools and Parts: Gather required tools and parts before starting installation. Parts supplied (all models): Leveling legs (4) Parts package is located in dryer drum. Check that all parts are included. Parts needed: (not supplied with dryer) Electric cord and plug* Vent clamps Vent elbows and ductwork * For Electric Dryer only. Gas Dryers come with electric cord and plug already installed. For gas installation: Check local codes and gas supplier, and read electrical, gas, and venting requirements before purchasing parts. Gas supply line must have: Shutoff valve Rigid gas supply line must be: Minimum 12.5 mm (1/2") ID pipe Flexible gas supply line must be: Minimum 10 mm (3/8") ID approved flexible hose LOCATION REQUIREMENTS Select proper location for your dryer to improve performance and minimize noise. Check code requirements. Some codes limit, or do not permit, installation of the dryer in garages, closets, mobile homes, or sleeping quarters. Contact your local building inspector. You will need: A location that allows for proper exhaust installation. The dryer must be exhausted to the outdoors. See Venting Requirements. An earthed electrical outlet located within 610 mm (2 ft) of either side of the dryer. See Electrical Requirements. A floor that will support the dryer and a total weight (dryer and load) of 90,7 kg (200 lbs). The combined weight of a companion appliance should also be considered. A level floor with maximum slope of 25 mm (1") under entire dryer. If slope is greater than 25 mm (1"), install Extended Dryer Feet Kit, Part No. 279810. Clothes may not tumble properly and models with automatic sensor cycles may not operate correctly if dryer is not level. It is important to make sure the room has an adequate air supply for drying operation. The operation of this appliance may affect the operation of other appliances which take their air supply for safe combustion from the same room. Adequate ventilation must be provided to avoid a backflow of gases into the room from appliances burning other fuels, including open fires. If in doubt consult the appliance manufacturers. IMPORTANT: The dryer must not be installed or stored in an area where it will be exposed to water and/or weather. Do not operate your dryer at temperatures below 7 C (45 F). At lower temperatures, the dryer might not shut off at the end of an automatic cycle. Drying times can be extended. Proper installation is your responsibility. Installation clearances: For each arrangement, consider allowing more space for ease of installation and servicing; spacing for companion appliances and clearances for walls, doors, and floor moldings. Space must be large enough to allow door to fully open. Add spacing on all sides of dryer to reduce noise transfer. If a closet door or louvered door is installed, top and bottom air openings in door are required. L.P. Gas Conversion: Gas conversion kit is available for purchase from your dealer. Full instructions are supplied with the kit. Conversion must be made by a competent technician. Additional parts may be required, depending on your installation. Check local codes. Check existing venting and electrical and gas supply. Read Electrical Requirements, "Gas Requirements," and Venting Requirements before purchasing parts. 6

This dryer must not be installed behind a lockable door, a sliding door or a door with a hinge on the opposite side to that of the dryer. The dryer must be exhausted outdoors. No other fuel-burning appliance may be installed in the same closet as the dryer. ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS IMPORTANT: Observe all governing codes and ordinances. For Electric Dryers Only: This dryer is supplied without an electric cord and plug. It must be connected by a qualified electrician to a single-phase electricity supply at the voltage shown on the dataplate, using a suitable fixed wiring installation in accordance with local and national wiring regulations. A 3-wire circular cord of minimum conductor side of 4 mm 2 cross-section area should be used. A 30A supply fuse should be used, and a switch with a minimum contact separation of 3 mm in both poles must be incorporated into the fixed wiring for dryer disconnection. The dryer should be positioned so that the disconnection switch is easily accessible to the user. A cord clamp bushing is provided on the dryer, and should be tightened on completion of wiring. The electrical mains terminals are located behind the small rear access panel (terminal block cover), and connections should be made in accordance with the terminal markings. For Both Gas and Electric Dryers: NOTE: In accordance with the European EMC Directive (89/336/EEC) the maximum electricity supply system impedance to which the electric dryer should be connected is declared to be 0.29 Ohm + J0.18 Ohm. This dryer has a Maximum power absorption/usage of 4700 watts. GAS REQUIREMENTS OBSERVE ALL GOVERNING CODES AND ORDINANCES. Gas supply: Check that dryer is equipped with the correct burner for the particular type of gas supply. Burner information will be found on the model/serial rating plate in the door well of the dryer. If this information does not agree with the type of gas available, see your dealer. If code permits and an additional earth bond wire is used, it is recommended that certified electrician determine that the earth bond path is adequate. Electrical Safety Standards: The manufacturer has chosen compliance with IEC/EN.60335 standards as the most appropriate for this product. Do not use an adapter. Recommended Earthing Method It is your responsibility to contact a qualified electrical installer to ensure that the electrical installation is adequate and in conformance with all local codes and ordinances. / Natural Gas: This dryer is factory adjusted for use with NATURAL GAS (G20), and no further adjustment should be required at installation. L.P. Gas: This dryer is also certified for use with L.P. (propane or butane) gases with appropriate conversion. No attempt shall be made to convert the appliance from the gas specified on the model/serial rating plate for use with a different gas without consulting the serving gas supplier. Conversion must be done by a qualified service technician. Gas conversion kits are available for purchase from your dealer. Full instructions are supplied with the kit. Supply Line Requirements Provide a rigid gas supply line to the dryer location. It should be minimum 12.5 mm (1/2") ID. When acceptable to the gas supplier and local codes, 10 mm (3/8") ID rigid supply line may be used for lengths under 6.1 m (20'). Pipe-joint compounds resistant to the action of L.P. gas must be used. 8

Gas connection to the dryer itself should be made by means of a flexible gas hose suitable for the appliance and gas category in accordance with national installation regulations. If in doubt, contact the gas supplier. It should be minimum 10 mm (3/8") ID. A means of restraint should be used between the appliance and the wall to prevent straining of the rigid gas supply when the appliance is moved. An appropriate length of chain and a wall hook is recommended. The dryer gas inlet connection is a 10 mm (3/8") NPT thread. An adapter is supplied for conversion to standard ISO.228-1 thread 10 mm (3/8" BSP). Check for leaks by using an approved noncorrosive leak detection solution. Bubbles will show a leak. Correct any leak found. A pressure measurement tapping is provided on the gas valve within the dryer, accessible after removal of the lower front panel. Gas supply pressure testing The dryer must be disconnected from the gas supply piping system during any pressure testing of that system. INSTALL LEVELING LEGS 2. Screw in leveling legs diamond marking Examine leveling legs, find diamond marking. Screw legs into leg holes by hand, use a wrench to finish turning legs until diamond marking is no longer visible. Now stand the dryer on its feet. Slide the dryer until it is close to its final location. Leave enough room for electrical connection and to connect the exhaust vent. VENTING REQUIREMENTS 1. Prepare dryer for leveling legs To avoid damaging floor, use a large flat piece of cardboard from dryer carton; place under entire back edge of dryer. Firmly grasp dryer body (not console panel) and gently lay dryer down on cardboard. WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire or suffocation, this dryer MUST BE EXHAUSTED OUTDOORS. ADDITIONAL WARNING for Gas Dryers: Forced ventilation of fresh air is required. The room containing the dryer must have an adequate air supply for gas combustion and drying operation. A window or equivalent means of ventilation must be opened in the room when the dryer is in use (an equivalent form of opening includes an adjustable louver, hinged panel, or other means of ventilation that opens directly to outside air). If exhaust is connected to a commonly used exhaust system, it is necessary to install flap valves or alternative adequate countermeasures at each connection to prevent back flow of dryer exhaust. Exhaust air must not be connected to an exhaust channel of a furnace. IMPORTANT: The design of the flue system should ensure that any condensate formed when operating the appliance is either retained or subsequently evaporated or discharged. Following these installation instructions should adequately meet this requirement. 9

IMPORTANT: Observe all governing codes and ordinances. Dryer exhaust must not be connected into any gas vent, chimney, wall, ceiling, attic, crawlspace, or a concealed space of a building. Only rigid or flexible metal vent shall be used for exhausting. Elbows: 45 elbows provide better airflow than 90 elbows. Good Better 102 mm (4") Only a 102 mm (4") heavy metal exhaust vent and clamps may be used. Do not install metal vent that is smaller than 102 mm (4") in diameter. Do not use plastic, non-metal, or metal foil vent Rigid metal vent Recommended for best drying performance and to avoid crushing and kinking. Flexible metal vent: (Acceptable only if accessible to clean) Must be fully extended and supported in final dryer location. Remove excess flexible metal vent to avoid sagging and kinking that may result in reduced airflow and poor performance. Do not install in enclosed walls, ceilings, or floors. The total length should not exceed 2.4 m (7 3 /4 ft.). NOTE: If using an existing vent system, clean lint from entire length of the system and make sure exhaust hood is not plugged with lint. Replace plastic or metal foil vents with rigid metal or flexible metal vents. Review "Vent System Chart" and if necessary, modify existing vent system to achieve best drying performance. Clamps: Use clamps to seal all joints. Exhaust vent must not be connected or secured with screws or other fastening devices that extend into interior of duct and catch lint. Do not use duct tape. Exhaust hoods: Recommended Styles: Louvered Hood Acceptable Style: Box Hood Vent products can be purchased from your dealer. For more information, see Assistance or Service section in your Use and Care Guide. PLAN VENT SYSTEM The design of the flue system should ensure that any condensate formed when operating the appliance from cold, is either retained and subsequently evaporated or discharged. Following these installation instructions should adequately meet this requirement. Recommended exhaust installations Typical installations vent the dryer from the rear of the dryer. Other installations are possible. B C Angled Hood An exhaust hood should cap the vent to keep rodents and insects from entering the home. Exhaust hood must be at least 305 mm (12") from the ground or any object that may be in the path of the exhaust (such as flowers, rocks, bushes, or snow line, etc.). Optional exhaust installations (on some models) This dryer can be converted to exhaust out the right side, left side, or through the bottom. If you prefer, you may contact your local dealer to have the dryer converted. Periscope installation Determine vent path: Select route that will provide straightest and most direct path outdoors. Plan installation to use fewest number of elbows and turns. See Venting Requirements. When using elbows or making turns, allow as much room as possible. Bend vent gradually to avoid kinking. Two close-clearance installations are shown. Refer to the manufacturer s instructions. Over-The-Top installation (also available with one offset elbow) Determine vent length and elbows needed for best drying performance: Use following Vent System Chart to determine type of vent material and hood combinations acceptable to use. NOTE: Do not use vent runs longer than those specified in Vent System Chart. Exhaust systems longer than those specified will: Shorten life of dryer. Reduce performance, resulting in longer drying times and increased energy usage. 11

The Vent System Chart provides venting requirements that will help achieve best drying performance. Vent System Chart 2. NOTE: Side and bottom exhaust installations have a 90 turn inside the dryer. To determine maximum exhaust length, add one 90 turn to the chart. The maximum length using a 51 mm x 152 mm (2"x 6") rectangular vent with 2 elbows and a 64 mm (2-1/2") exhaust hood is 2,4 m (8ft). Vent must fit over the exhaust hood. Secure vent to exhaust hood with 102 mm (4") clamp. Run vent to dryer location using straightest path possible. Avoid 90 turns. Use clamps to seal all joints. Do not use duct tape, screws, or other fastening devices that extend into interior of vent to secure vent, because they can catch lint. CONNECT VENT 1. Connect vent to exhaust outlet For exhaust systems not covered by the Vent System Chart (such as multiple unit hookups, plenums, and power-assist fans), see Service Manual, Part 603197. (To purchase the Service Manual, contact your local authorized service dealer. INSTALL VENT SYSTEM 1. Install exhaust hood Using a 102 mm (4") clamp, connect vent to exhaust outlet in dryer. If connecting to existing vent, make sure vent is clean. Dryer vent must fit over dryer exhaust outlet and inside exhaust hood. Check that vent is secured to exhaust hood with a 102 mm (4") clamp. 2. Move dryer to final location Install exhaust hood and use caulking compound to seal exterior wall opening around exhaust hood. Move dryer to final location. Avoid crushing or kinking vent. After dryer is in place, remove corner posts and cardboard from under the dryer. 12

LEVEL DRYER 1. Level Dryer Check levelness of dryer from side to side. Repeat from front to back. NOTE: The dryer must be level to reduce noise and assure proper performance. If legs are not long enough to level dryer, order Extended Dryer Feet kit, Part No. 279810 (sold two legs per kit), from your dealer. Not Level LEVEL Not Level 1. Tighten and adjust leveling legs COMPLETE INSTALLATION CHECKLIST Check that all parts are now installed. If there is an extra part, go back through steps to see what was skipped. Check that dryer legs are properly installed. Check that you have all of your tools. Dispose of/recycle all packaging materials. Check dryer s final location. Be sure vent is not crushed or kinked. Secure all exhaust vent joints with 102 mm (4")clamps. For power supply cord installation, plug into an earthed outlet. For direct wire installation, turn on power. Check that dryer is level. See Level Dryer. Remove film on console and any tape remaining on dryer. Wipe dryer drum interior thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any dust. Read Dryer Use in your Use and Care Guide. Set the dryer on a full heat cycle (not an air cycle) for 20 minutes and start the dryer. (If you have a gas dryer, it is equipped with an electronic ignition system for the burner which is fully automatic; no action is needed by the user (there is no pilot light). If the dryer will not start, check the following: Controls are set in a running or On position. Start button has been pushed firmly. Dryer is plugged into an outlet and/or electrical supply is on. Household fuse is intact and tight, or circuit breaker has not tripped. Dryer door is closed. When the dryer has been running for 5 minutes, open the dryer door and feel for heat. If you feel heat, cancel cycle and close the door. If you do not feel heat, turn off dryer, and check the following: There may be 2 household fuses or circuit breakers for the dryer. Check that both fuses are intact and tight, or that both circuit breakers have not tripped. If there is still no heat, contact a qualified technician. NOTE: You may notice an odor when the dryer is first heated. This odor is common when the heating element is first used. The odor will go away. If dryer is not level, prop up using a wood block, use wrench to adjust legs up or down, and check again for levelness. Once legs are level, make sure all four legs are snug against the ground. 13

REVERSE DOOR SWING (OPTIONAL) If your door is the 29" Large Side-Swing Door, follow steps 1-6. 3. Lift door off top screws If your door is the 29" Super Wide Side-Swing Door, follow steps 1-13. Lift door until top screws in cabinet are in large part of hinge slot. Pull door forward off screws. Set door on top of dryer. Remove top screws from dryer cabinet. NOTE: Magnetized screw driver is helpful. Large Side-Swing Door 4. Remove and transfer hinge hole plugs 1. Place towel on dryer Place towel on top of dryer to avoid damaging the surface. 2. Remove bottom screws Use a small, flat-blade screwdriver to gently remove 4 hinge hole plugs on left side of dryer cabinet. Insert plugs into hinge holes on opposite side of dryer cabinet. 5. Insert screws in hinge holes on dryer cabinet Open dryer door. Remove bottom screws from dryer cabinet side of hinges. Loosen (do not remove) top screws from dryer cabinet side of hinges. 14 NOTE: Two people may be needed to reinstall door. Insert screws into bottom holes on left side of dryer cabinet. Tighten screws halfway. Position door so large end of door hinge slot is over screws. Slide door up so screws are in bottom of slots. Tighten screws. Insert and tighten top screws in hinges.

6. Check door strike alignment 3. Lift door off top screws Close door and check that door strike aligns with door catch. If needed, slide door catch left or right within slot to adjust alignment. Super Wide Side-Swing Door 1. Place towel on dryer Lift door until top screws in dryer cabinet are in large part of hinge slot. Pull door forward off screws. Set door (handle side up) on top of dryer. Remove top screws from dryer cabinet. 4. Remove screws from hinges Place towel on top of dryer to avoid damaging the surface. 2. Remove bottom screws Remove screws attaching hinges to door. 5. Remove screws from door Open dryer door. Remove bottom screws from dryer cabinet side of hinges. Loosen (do not remove) top screws from dryer cabinet side of hinges. Remove screws at top, bottom, and side of door (4 screws). Keep door screws separate from hinge screws as they are different sizes. Holding door over towel on dryer, grasp sides of outer door and lift to separate it from inner door. NOTE: Do not pry apart with putty knife or screwdriver. Do not pull on door seal or plastic door catches. 15

6. Rotate outer door 9. Remove door strike Take outer door and rotate in 180º and set it back down on inner door. Be certain to keep cardboard spacer centered between doors. Reattach outer door panel to inner door panel so handle is on the side where hinges were just removed. Insert 4 door screws. 7. Flip door over Remove door strike from dryer cabinet and set aside. 10. Remove and transfer hinge hole plugs Flip door over so handle side is down. 8. Attach door hinges Use a small, flat-blade screwdriver to gently remove 4 hinge hole plugs on left side of dryer cabinet. Transfer plugs into hinge holes on opposite side of dryer cabinet. 11. Insert screws in hinge holes on dryer cabinet Reattach door hinges to dryer door so that the larger hole is at the bottom of the hinge. NOTE: Two people may be needed to reinstall door. Insert screws into the bottom holes on left side of dryer cabinet. Tighten screws halfway. Position door so large end of door hinge slot is over screws. Slide door up so screws are in bottom of slots. Tighten screws. Insert and tighten top screws in hinges. 16

12. Remove door strike plug Remove door strike plug. Insert the door strike removed in Step 9 into hole and secure with screw. Insert door strike plug into original door strike hole and secure with screw. 13. Check door strike alignment NON-USE, STORAGE, AND MOVING CARE Non-Use or Storage Care Operate your dryer only when you are at home. If you will be on vacation or not using your dryer for an extended period of time, you should: 1. Unplug dryer or disconnect power. 2. Clean lint screen. See Cleaning the Lint Screen. Moving Care For power supply cord-connected dryers: 1. Unplug the power supply cord. 2. Gas models only: Close shut-off valve in gas supply line. 3. Gas models only: Disconnect gas supply line pipe and remove fittings attached to dryer pipe. 4. Gas models only: Cap the open fuel supply line. 5. Make sure leveling legs are secure in dryer base. 6. Use tape to secure dryer door. IMPORTANT: Dryer must be transported in the upright position. Close door and check that door strike aligns with door catch. If it is needed, slide door catch left or right within slot to adjust alignment. For direct-wired dryers: 1. Disconnect power. 2. Disconnect wiring. 3. Make sure leveling legs are secure in dryer base. 4. Use tape to secure dryer door. Reinstalling the Dryer Follow the Installation Instructions to locate, level, and connect the dryer. 17

DRYER SAFETY ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Do not use this dryer if it appears to be damaged or is defective. Contact the owner of the dryer to have proper repairs made. Do not use this dryer if industrial chemicals have been used for cleaning. Do not dry unwashed items in the tumble dryer. WARNING: Never stop a tumble dryer before the end of the drying cycle unless all items are quickly removed and spread out so the heat is dissipated. 2

If in doubt, consult the appliance manufacturers. Do not obstruct the air supply to the dryer (see Installation Instructions for minimum clearances). Do not place items exposed to cooking oils in your dryer. Oil-affected items can ignite spontaneously, especially when exposed to heat sources such as in a tumble dryer. The items become warm causing an oxidation reaction in the oil. Oxidation creates heat. If the heat cannot escape, the items can become hot enough to catch fire. Piling, stacking or storing oil-affected items can prevent heat from escaping and so create a fire hazard. If it is unavoidable to dry in the dryer items that have been soiled with substances such as cooking oil, acetone, alcohol, petrol, kerosene, spot removers, turpentine, waxes and wax removers, or that have been contaminated by hair care products, should be washed in hot water with an extra amount of detergent before being dried in the dryer. These items may give off vapours that could ignite or explode. Such washing will reduce, but not eliminate, the hazard. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instructions concerning use of the appliance by persons responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. The dryer should not be used if industrial chemicals have been used for cleaning. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS Before the dryer is removed from service or discarded, remove the doors to the drying compartment. Do not reach into the dryer if the drum is moving. A door switch is fitted for your safety. Do not install or store the dryer where it will be exposed to the weather. Do not tamper with controls. Do not continue to use this appliance if it appears to be faulty. Do not repair or replace any part of the dryer or attempt any maintenance unless specifically recommended in this Use and Care Guide. Repairs and servicing should only be carried out by competent service personnel. Do not use fabric softeners or products to eliminate static unless recommended by the manufacturer of the fabric softener or product. Follow their instructions. Clean dryer lint screen before or after each load. Do not operate dryer without lint screen in place. Keep area around the exhaust and inlet openings and adjacent surrounding areas free from the accumulation of lint, dust, and dirt. The interior of the dryer and exhaust vent should be cleaned periodically by qualified service personnel. See Installation Instructions for earthing instructions. Do not dry unwashed items in this dryer. The final part of a tumble dryer cycle occurs without heat (cool down cycle) to ensure that the items are left at a temperature that ensures the items will not be damaged. Items such as foam rubber (latex foam), shower caps, waterproof textiles, rubber backed articles and clothes or pillows fitted with foam rubber pads must only be dried on a clothesline. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard. WARNING: Never stop a tumble dryer cycle before the end of the drying cycle unless all items are quickly removed and spread out so that the heat is dissipated. 3

SPECIFICATIONS These units are sold in multiple regions with different requirements for measuring capacity. Below are a few of the valid forms of measure posted on this product: Dry Linen Capacity: A weight measure that reflects a maximum load size that can be loaded into the dryer. IEC Capacity: The capacity measure that represents the maximum capacity of dry linens and textiles which the manufacturer declares can be treated in a specific cycle. Dry Linen Capacity 15 kg (33 lb) IEC Capacity 9,0 kg (19,8 lb) Sound Level: Lpa < 70 db(a) (Kpa: +/- 2,5 db(a)) CHECK YOUR VENT SYSTEM FOR GOOD AIR FLOW Maintain good air flow by: Cleaning your lint screen before each load. Replace plastic or foil vent material with 102 mm (4") diameter heavy, rigid vent material. 102 mm (4") Use the shortest length of vent possible. Use no more than four 90 elbows in a vent system; each bend and curve reduces air flow. Good air flow Along with heat, dryers require good air flow to efficiently dry laundry. Proper venting will reduce your drying times and improve your energy savings. See Installation Instructions. The venting system attached to the dryer plays a big role in good air flow. Service calls caused by improper venting are not covered by the warranty and will be paid by the customer, regardless of who installed the dryer. Good Better Remove lint and debris from the exhaust hood. Remove lint from the entire length of the vent system at least every 2 years. When cleaning is complete, be sure to follow the Installation Instructions supplied with your dryer for final product check. Clear away items from the front the dryer. Use Automatic Dry Cycles for Better Fabric Care and Energy Savings Use the Automatic Dry Cycles to provide the most energy savings and enhanced fabric care from the dryer. During Automatic Dry Cycles, drying air temperature and moisture level are sensed in the load. This sensing occurs throughout the drying cycle and the dryer shuts off when the load reaches the selected dryness. The dryer will default to Energy Preferred cycle to give you optimal dryness for your load and save energy. With Timed Dry, the dryer runs the amount of time set and sometimes results in shrinkage, wrinkling, and static due to over-drying. Use Timed Dry for the occasional damp load that needs a little more drying time or when using the drying rack. 5

Promptly removing clothes at the end of the cycle reduces wrinkling. Turn the END OF CYCLE SIGNAL knob to select the desired setting (On or Off). Press the PUSH to START knob to start the dryer. NOTE: When the Wrinkle Shield setting is selected and the End of Cycle Signal is on, the tone will sound every 5 minutes until the clothes are removed, or the Wrinkle Shield setting ends. 4 DRYER CYCLE KNOB 2 3 WRINKLE SHIELD FEATURE (on some models) When you are unable to remove a load of clothes from the dryer as soon as it stops, wrinkles can form. The WRINKLE SHIELD feature periodically tumbles, rearranges, and fluffs the load to help keep wrinkles from forming. Get up to 40 minutes of heat-free, periodic tumbling at the end of a cycle. Turn the WRINKLE SHIELD knob to ON or OFF at any time before the cycle has ended. TEMPERATURE / FABRIC Select a drying temperature based on the fabrics in your load. If you are unsure of the temperature to select for a load, select the lower setting rather than the higher setting. Not all features and options are available on all models. Appearance may vary. Use your Dryer Cycle knob to select available cycles on your dryer. Turn the knob to select a cycle for your laundry load. See Cycle Guide for detailed descriptions of cycles. TIMED DRY Will run the dryer for the specified time on the control. On models with a selectable temperature knob, you may choose a setting based on the fabrics in your load. Drying time and temperature will depend on your dryer model. FLUFF AIR/FLUFF DRY Will run the dryer in a no heat cycle for the specified time on the control. On models with a selectable temperature knob, you may choose a setting based on the fabrics in your load. Drying time will depend on your dryer model. AUTOMATIC DRY Senses moisture in the load or air temperature and shuts off when the load reaches the selected dryness level. Gives the best drying in the shortest time. Drying time will vary based on fabric type, load size, and dryness setting. 6

CYCLE GUIDE AUTOMATIC DRY CYCLES Not all cycles and settings are available on all models. Settings and options shown in bold are default settings for that cycle. Setting the Drying Temperature If your dryer has multiple heat settings: A High Heavy temperature setting may be used for drying heavyweight items such as towels and work clothes. A Low Knits to Medium Casual temperature setting may be used for drying medium-weight items such as sheets, blouses, dresses, underwear, permanent press fabrics, and some knits. Use the Fluff Air/Fluff Dry (no heat) setting for foam, rubber, plastic, or heat-sensitive fabrics. Line dry bonded or laminated fabrics. NOTE: If you have questions about drying temperatures for various loads, refer to the care label directions. 7

USING YOUR DRYER WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, read the IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS before operating this dryer. Before using your dryer, wipe the dryer drum with a damp cloth to remove dust from storing and shipping. 1. Clean the lint screen 2. Load the dryer Clean the lint screen before each load. Pull the lint screen out of its holder. Roll lint off the screen with your fingers. Do not rinse or wash screen to remove lint. Push the lint screen firmly back into place. For additional cleaning information, see Dryer Care. Place laundry in the dryer. Close the door. Do not tightly pack the dryer; clothes should be able to tumble freely. NOTE: Your model may have a different door than the one shown. Some models have drop down doors. 8

AUTOMATIC DRY Cycles You can select a different dryness level, depending on your load, by turning the knob to the appropriate Automatic Dry cycle. Selecting an Automatic Dry cyle automatically adjusts the dryness level at which the dryer will shut off. Once a dryness level is set, it cannot be changed without stopping the cycle. AUTOMATIC DRY cycles give the best drying in the shortest time. Drying time varies based on fabric type, load size, and dryness setting. NOTE: ENERGY PREFERRED is used for a starting point for AUTODRY cycles. Choose ENERGY PREFERRED for optimal energy savings. Turn the END OF CYCLE SIGNAL knob to select the desired setting (On or Off). The End of Cycle Signal produces an audible sound when the drying cycle is finished. Promptly removing clothes at the end of the cycle reduces wrinkling. NOTE: When the Wrinkle Shield setting is selected and the End of Cycle Signal is on, the tone will sound every 5 minutes until the clothes are removed, or the Wrinkle Shield setting ends. 6. Press PUSH to START to begin cycle 4. Set cycle settings and options (on some models) Push and hold the PUSH to START knob to begin the cycle. Promptly remove garments after cycle has completed to reduce wrinkling. Use the Wrinkle Shield feature to avoid wrinkling when you are unable to remove a load from the dryer as soon as it stops. Select cycle settings and options by turning the knob to the desired position. 9

DRYER CARE Cleaning the dryer location Keep dryer area clear and free from items that would block the air flow for proper dryer operation. This includes clearing piles of laundry in front of the dryer. Cleaning the lint screen Every load cleaning The lint screen is located in the dryer. A screen blocked by lint can increase drying time. To clean: 1. Pull the lint screen out of its holder. Roll lint off the screen with your fingers. Do not rinse or wash screen to remove lint. Wet lint is hard to remove. Cleaning the dryer interior To clean dryer drum 1. Apply a liquid, nonflammable household cleaner to the stained area of the drum and rub with a soft cloth until stain is removed. 2. Wipe drum thoroughly with a damp cloth. 3. Tumble a load of clean cloths or towels to dry the drum. NOTE: Garments that contain loose dyes, such as denim blue jeans or brightly colored cotton items, may discolor the dryer interior. These stains are not harmful to your dryer and will not stain future loads of clothes. Dry these items inside out to avoid drum staining. Removing accumulated lint From Inside the Dryer Cabinet Lint should be removed every 2 years, or more often, depending on dryer usage. Cleaning should be done by a qualified servicer. From the Exhaust Vent Lint should be removed every 2 years, or more often, depending on dryer usage. 2. Push the lint screen firmly back into place. IMPORTANT: Do not run the dryer with the lint screen loose, damaged, blocked, or missing. Doing so can cause overheating and damage to both the dryer and fabrics. If lint falls off the screen into the dryer during removal, check the exhaust hood and remove the lint. See Venting Requirements in the Installation Instructions. As needed cleaning Laundry detergent and fabric softener residue can build up on the lint screen. This buildup can cause longer drying times for your clothes, or cause the dryer to stop before your load is completely dry. The screen is probably clogged if lint falls off while the screen is in the dryer. Clean the lint screen with a nylon brush every 6 months, or more frequently, if it becomes clogged due to a residue buildup. To wash: 1. Roll lint off the screen with your fingers. 2. Wet both sides of lint screen with hot water. 3. Wet a nylon brush with hot water and liquid detergent. Scrub lint screen with the brush to remove residue buildup. 4. Rinse screen with hot water. 5. Thoroughly dry lint screen with a clean towel. Reinstall screen in dryer. 10

IMPORTANT: To prevent damage to dryer and personal injury, any transport/installation of dryer requires two-person handling. Vacation, storage, and moving care Non-Use or Storage Care Operate your dryer only when you are at home. If you will be on vacation or not using your dryer for an extended period of time, you should: 1. Unplug dryer or disconnect power. 2. (For gas dryers only): Close shut off valve to gas supply line. 3. Clean lint screen. See Cleaning the Lint Screen. Moving Care IMPORTANT: Washer must be transported in the upright position. For power supply cord-connected dryers: 1. Unplug the power supply cord. 2. Make sure leveling legs are secure in dryer base. 3. Use tape to secure dryer door. For direct-wired dryers: 1. Turn off power at fuse or breaker box. 2. Disconnect wiring. 3. Make sure leveling legs are secure in dryer base. 4. Use tape to secure dryer door. For gas dryers: 1. Unplug or disconnect power to dryer. 2. Close shutoff valve in gas supply line. 3. Disconnect gas supply line pipe and remove fittings attached to dryer pipe. 4. Cap the open fuel supply line. 5. Make sure leveling legs are secure in dryer base. 6. Use tape to secure dryer door. Reinstalling the Dryer Follow the Installation Instructions to locate, level, and connect the dryer. 11

TROUBLESHOOTING First try the solutions suggested here to possibly avoid the cost of a service call. If you experience Possible Causes Solution Clothes are not drying satisfactorily, drying times are too long Dryer will not run Lint screen clogged with lint. The Fluff Air cycle has been selected. Door not closed completely. PUSH to START knob not pressed firmly or held long enough. Household fuse is blown or circuit breaker has tripped. Incorrect power supply. Wrong type of fuse. Lint screen should be cleaned before each load. Select the right cycle for the types of garments being dried. See Cycle Guide. Separate the load to tumble freely. Run the dryer for 5-10 minutes. Hold your hand under the outside exhaust hood to check air movement. If you do not feel air movement, clean exhaust system of lint or replace exhaust vent with heavy metal or flexible metal vent. Make sure vent is not crushed or kinked. See Installation Instructions. Use only one fabric softener sheet, and use it only once. Check that the exhaust vent is not too long or has too many turns. Long venting will increase drying times. Make sure vent is not crushed or kinked. See Installation Instructions. Use 102 mm (4") diameter vent material. Proper operation of dryer cycles requires temperatures above 7ºC (45ºF). Closet doors must have ventilation openings at the top and bottom of the door. The front of the dryer requires a minimum of 25 mm (1") of airspace, and, for most installations, the rear of the dryer requires 127 mm (5"). See Installation Instructions. Make sure the dryer door is closed completely. Press and hold the PUSH to START knob until you hear the dryer drum moving. Electric dryers use 2 household fuses or circuit breakers. The drum may be turning, but you may not have heat. Replace both fuses or reset the circuit breaker. If the problem continues, call an electrician. Electric dryers require 220-240-volt power supply. Check with a qualified electrician. Use a time-delay fuse. Unusual sounds Dryer had a period of non-use. If the dryer hasn t been used for awhile, there may be a thumping sound during the first few minutes of operation. Coin, button, or paper clip caught between the drum and front or rear of the dryer. It is a gas dryer. Check the front and rear edges of the drum for small objects. Clean out pockets before laundering. The gas valve clicking is a normal operating sound. Dryer is not level. The dryer may vibrate if not properly installed. See Installation Instructions. No heat 12 Clothing knotted or balled up. Household fuse is blown or circuit breaker has tripped. Supply line valve not open. Incorrect power supply. When balled up, the load will bounce, causing the dryer to vibrate. Separate the load items and restart the dryer. The drum may be turning, but you may not have heat. Electric dryers use 2 household fuses or circuit breakers. Replace both fuses or reset the circuit breaker. If the problem continues, call an electrician. For gas dryers, is the valve open on the supply line. Electric dryers require 220-240 volt power supply. Check with a qualified electrician.

TROUBLESHOOTING cont. First try the solutions suggested here to possibly avoid the cost of a service call. If you experience Possible Causes Solution Cycle time too short Automatic cycle ending early. The load may not be contacting the sensor strips. Level the dryer. Use Timed Dry for very small loads. Change the dryness level setting setting on Automatic Dry cycles. Increasing or decreasing the Dry Level setting will change the amount of drying time in a cycle. Lint on load Lint screen clogged. Lint screen should be cleaned before each load. Stains on load or drum Loads are wrinkled Odors Load is too hot Dryer fabric softener not properly used. Load not removed from dryer at the end of the cycle. Dryer is tightly packed. You have recently been painting, staining, or varnishing in the area where your dryer is located. The electric dryer is being used for the first time. Laundry items were removed from the dryer before the end of the cycle. A high temperature cycle was used or Temperature/Fabric control was set to high. Add dryer fabric softener sheets at the beginning of the cycle. Fabric softener sheets added to a partially dried load can stain your garments. Drum stains are caused by dyes in clothing (usually blue jeans). These will not transfer to other clothing. Select Wrinkle Shield feature to tumble the load without heat to avoid wrinkling. Dry smaller loads that can tumble freely and reduce formation of wrinkles. If so, ventilate the area. When the odors or fumes are gone from the area, rewash and dry the clothing. The new electric heating element may have an odor. The odor will be gone after the first cycle. Allow Cool Down feature to finish before removing laundry from dryer. All cycles are cooled slowly to reduced wrinkling and make it easier to handle. Items removed before Cool Down may feel very warm. Select a lower temperature, and use an Automatic Dry cycle. These cycles sense the temperature or the moisture level in the load and shut off when the load reaches the selected dryness. This reduces overdrying.
