Grey bin Sizes 25, 35 and 50 litres Emptying / collection Once a week by GEM. Charges Fees are set by mags as part of the fixed charge for waste management. They are based on the size of the grey bin. For information about prices, please visit www.mags.de/gebuehrenbescheid. How it works Tenants or landlords can buy the grey bin in DIY stores. Bins can be registered and de- / re-registered at mags or GEM (Am Nordpark 400, 41068 Mönchengladbach). Grey bins are not emptied if they do not have a valid sticker. The stickers are sent by mags. Blue bin Sizes 120 and 240 litres Emptying / collection Every 14 days by GEM. Charges The blue bin is covered by the fee charged for your registered household rubbish bin. There is no additional charge. How it works As an owner/landlord, you can simply order the blue bin by calling 02161-49 10 60. We deliver the bin to your door. As a tenant, please ask your landlord to agree to the order and then call us on 02161-49 10 60. Other options Paper can also be collected in bundles: simply lie the paper and paperboard flat in cardboard boxes and tie up with twine (not made from plastic). There are also plenty of paper bins dotted around Mönchengladbach. Find your nearest bin by visiting www.mags.de.

Yellow sack Emptying / collection Every 14 days by EGN (Entsorgungsgesellschaft Niederrhein mbh). Charges Collection is free. When you buy a product, you have already paid for its packaging including the delivery and collection of the yellow sacks. How it works EGN supplies yellow sacks on rolls of 26 sacks to every household by 31 January each year. You can get extra rolls (while stocks last) by presenting a collection card to EGN vehicle personnel or in council and administrative offices, and at GEM (Am Nordpark 400, 41068 Mönchengladbach). You will find your collection cards on the back of the latest GEM Collection Calendar. You can order additional collection cards from EGN by calling 0800-20 10 505. How it works As an owner / landlord, you can simply order the brown bin by calling 02161-49 10 60 or emailing us at behaelter@mags.de. We deliver the bin to your door. If you are a tenant, please talk to your landlord first. Emptying / collection An alternative to the brown bin is home composting. Glass Glass can be recycled indefinitely. Glass recycling also reduces your household waste and helps to cut the costs of waste management. How it works Glass containers must be empty Lids and labels do not need to be removed Glass must be separated into the colours green, brown and white Any other colour (e.g. blue or red bottles) goes into the green glass container Pre-sorted glass is emptied 1:1 into the three-chamber system used by the vehicle Collection The waste management company Rhenus is responsible for emptying the glass collection bins. Bulky items We handle your bulky items. Details On each visit, we collect 5 cubic metres of bulky items. That s the volume of a box 2 m wide, 2 m long and 1.25 m tall. Charges You can arrange two bulky item pickups per year. These two pickups are included in the fee charged for your registered household rubbish bin. There is no additional charge. How it works Arrange a pickup by calling us on 02161-49 10 49 or email us at sperrmuelltermin@gem-mg.de. You can also arrange a pickup by visiting www.mags.de/abfall-sperrmuell. Other options We also offer a number of special services: Express-Service: Kerbside pickup of your bulky item on a specific date (assuming availability) fixed charge of EUR 58. All-Inclusive-Service: Pickup of your bulky item by our removal team from your apartment, basement or garage. Work is charged at EUR 124.99 / hour and is invoiced according to time taken.

Both depots also make it easy to dump your rubbish: the containers are located at a lower level and are filled from above. Opening times Heidgesberg Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday Friday Wednesday 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM closed Drop-off In Luisental (Geistenbeck) and Heidgesberg (Nordpark) you can drop off up to 5 m 3 of household waste and recyclable materials weighing up to 500 kg. Luisental Monday, Wednesday, Thursday Friday and Saturday 8.00 AM - 2:30 PM Tuesday closed

Hazardous waste

Hazardous waste We accept delivery of Paints and coatings Acids and bases Chemicals LED bulbs and fluorescent tubes Batteries and thermometers Small appliances up to about coffee machine size (e.g. phones, shavers, hairdryers, toasters and laptops) We DO NOT accept delivery of Oil Railway sleepers Waste that contains asbestos Solvent-free interior paints that are still liquid can be dropped off at a recycling depot for a fee. Cans with dried paint can be thrown into the household waste bin.

Hazardous waste Hazardous waste is both a health risk and a problem for the environment, and must therefore be handed in to the GEM Mobile Hazardous Waste Unit. Locations visited by the Mobile Hazardous Waste Unit The Mobile Hazardous Waste Unit makes several stops in and around Mönchengladbach. You can view these stops and the dates when they are visited on www.mags.de, the mags app or the GEM Collection Calendar. The Mobile Hazardous Waste Unit also visits the recycling depots on two days each week: Recycling depot Luisental (Geistenbeck) Mondays and Thursdays Heidgesberg (Nordpark) Tuesdays and Fridays 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
