APPLICATIONS Home Automation Application Energy efficiency in a low consumption home with hot heating control New and existing residential buildings Wireless technology Operating principle Control and programming of 2 zones: 2 wireless room thermostats control the heating zones. the receivers associated with the thermostats control the 3-way On/Off valves of the heating circuits. once the zones have reached the temperature set by their thermostat, the general heating circuit is stopped by the general receiver. a wireless programmer controls the temperature reductions in both zones. Roller shutter management: the Radio TYXIA 258 astronomical clock centralizes and programs the opening and closing of the roller shutters. In summer, closing the shutters provides protection from the sun in order to prevent the house from overheating. In winter, opening the roller shutters makes use of the free energy provided by the sun; furthermore, shutting them when the sun sets reduces the building's heat loss. Consumption monitoring: the Radio TYWATT 550 meter measures consumption and displays its on the wireless programmer screen. it ensures awareness of energy expenditure in order to control the operating costs in the home. Benefits of the solution Enhances energy efficiency by combining heating management, control of the roller shutters and consumption monitoring: simultaneous management of the roller shutters ensures a real gain in the regulatory calculation included under title V of the RT 2005 French Thermal Regulations. equipping rooms with consumption monitoring systems (heating, domestic hot water, socket network, etc.) can anticipate the future RT 2012 French Thermal Regulations. In order to ensure optimum comfort within a low consumption home, Delta Dore recommends a solution to control the indoor temperature. This independently adjusts and controls the temperature of the different zones of the home. Control of the day zone and night zone heating ensures better management of the sunlight in the room, thus avoiding uncomfortable overheating. The indoor temperature control, multizone and upgradeable, adapts to a low consumption home equipped with a hot water radiant floor (upper floor and ground floor), hot water heaters or a mixed installation (hot water radiant floor and heaters). This solution applies to all types of heating (boiler or heat pump). 8 The solution includes Pack DELTA 300 BBC - 1 DRIVER 620 Radio programming room unit - 2 Radio D10 room units and 2 Wireless receivers - 1 RF 651 wireless general receiver Ref. 6050563 (details p.136/137) TYXIA 258 transmitter wireless clock Ref. 6351072 (details p.194) TYXIA 463 micromodule Receiver for roller shutters Ref. 6351042 (details p.176) Radio TYWATT 550 wireless consumption meter Ref. 6110017 (details p.121) 9

Heating and Cooling 76 Choose the right technology for each type of heating or air conditioning installation Whatever type of installation you have in mind, Delta Dore has all the technologies to meet your needs. Wireless technology is now widely used in both new and existing buildings, making products easier to install and use. With more than 7 million products installed, Delta Dore's X2D communication protocol is a technology you can trust. Hard-wired technology There are two types of technology: conventional hard-wired connection pilot wire connection for electric heating. This centralizes the programming of electric heaters or radiant underfloor heating and enables the installation to be controlled via a programmer or energy manager. Wireless technology Transmitters and receivers communicate with each other wirelessly via radio waves. And because the technology uses the 868 MHz bandwidth, it does not interfere with the operation of other electrical appliances. Depending on where products are positioned and how they are installed (base, flush- or wall-mounted), signal coverage ranges from 100 to 300 metres outside. And because these are carried across the existing electrical network, no additional wiring is required. With its own separate frequency (132.45 KHz), this technology does not disrupt appliances or electric power supplies. Heating and Cooling 78 Saving you energy......in 10 STEPS 1 2010 and 2011 tax credits The French State has made commitments to encourage individuals to undertake energy-saving works in their homes. The equipment must be incorporated into a home completed more than 2 years previously for heating programming and control devices, and must be supplied and installed by professionals. 2 Programming day of the week. Tailored to your personal lifestyle, the programming function automatically lowers the set-point temperature of one or more zones in the home during sleep and away periods each Combined with a controller, this function helps to reduce your total heating consumption. The function ensures that the system delivers to customers the selected temperature at the set time. Incorporated into certain products, it provides an extra level of comfort and also gains points in the calculation of consumption in the RT 2005 French thermal regulations. BENEFIT: increase the energy efficiency of heating systems by up to 12% 3 Load-shedding Chrono-proportional (P.I.) control 4 Load-shedding helps to control peak demand within the home and, if necessary, shuts down non-priority applications (such as electric heating or domestic hot water) temporarily to prevent the risk of tripping. By doing so, it avoids consumption peaks while maintaining the home at the same temperature level. Developed by Delta Dore, Cascadocyclique load-shedding distributes available power to all non-priority applications. The load controller acts on each non-priority output in turn (cyclic) and adjusts the number of outputs to be cut off as a function of the overpower (cascade). BENEFIT: with a load controller, you can help your customers spend less with a lower priced electricity plan, equating to a saving of around 100 euros. Built into each and every Delta Dore thermostat, chrono-proportional control regularly calculates the duration of the heating system's ON and OFF periods in proportion to the difference between the measured and set-point temperatures. This ensures that the required temperature is reached quickly and accurately, without any sudden variations. BENEFIT: increase the energy efficiency of heating systems by up to 10% 5 Consumption meter Consumption meters measure electrical consumption for heating, domestic hot water, etc. and display usage in euros and kwh. BENEFIT: informing customers about their consumption habits encourages them to look more closely at how resources are being used - and how to reduce their energy bills. 6 Telephone transmission Using a telephone transmitter, your customers can turn the heating on and off, change operating modes and control a whole range of other applications in the home, even when they re not at home. BENEFIT: your customers can manage their heat consumption any time, anywhere. 7 Domestic hot water control 8 Magnetic contact combined with heating control Domestic hot water (DHW) is one of the non-priority applications to which load-shedding is applied. During a consumption peak, the DHW will be shut down for a few minutes to prevent tripping. Controlled automatically according to peak and off-peak hours, the domestic hot water can also be switched on and off remotely using a telephone transmitter. Zone 1 switches to Frost Protection when access point opened Room unit Why not combine a magnetic contact with a heating controller? Any time a window fitted with the technology is opened, the heating automatically switches to Frost Protection mode, reverting back to the preset level when the window is closed. BENEFIT: prevents heat loss to deliver massive energy savings to your customer. BENEFIT: increase the energy efficiency of DHW by up to 15%. 9 Night ventilation 10 Home automation scenarios 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Perfect during the summer months, night ventilation takes advantage of night time hours to cool the home. When the outdoor temperature falls below the temperature inside the building, the energy manager activates the CMV to accelerate air renewal and replace stale air with fresh air from outside. BENEFIT: by purging heat built up during the day, the temperature falls by around 1 to 4 C. Scenarios can be created to perform several actions at the same time. Examples of badge-activated scenarios on the CALYBOX series 400 energy manager: Leave for work scenario for greater energy savings: - Switch heating to Economy mode until the next Comfort period - Cut power to non-priority sockets to switch off appliances on stand-by - Switch off all lighting - Lower all north facing motor-driven shutters Return from work scenario: - Activate lighting and sockets - Activate roller shutters BENEFIT: scenarios take the repetitiveness out of everyday actions and help to save energy by eliminating unnecessary energy consumption. 79

Under the RT 2005 thermal regulations, the performance level required for residential buildings is 50 kwh primary energy per m 2 for the following five applications: - Heating/Cooling - Ventilation - Domestic Hot Water - Auxiliary - Lighting This requirement is weighted by coefficients reflecting the climate zone and altitude of the building. Many of Delta Dore's products are fully aligned with this performance objective. What's more, they have also been developed to meet the requirements of the future RT 2012.
