Two Wittmann Battenfeld Customers Talk About the Benefits of WITTMANN 4.0 Two Wittmann Battenfeld customers in the USA, BSD Industries (Chicago, IL) and Stenner Pump Company (Jacksonville, FL), have recently shared with us how they are using Wittmann 4.0 to increase their injection molding efficiency. While Industry 4.0 is in its infancy, we re already seeing some of our customers implementing it to their advantage, said Sonny Morneault, Wittmann Battenfeld s VP of Sales. We look forward to showing off our Wittmann 4.0 capabilities at the upcoming NPE 2018 show, so more molders can see first-hand how it can help them be more efficient and ultimately, more profitable. BSD Industries has an interesting business model, one that Wittmann Battenfeld supports. In addition to selling BSD Wittmann Battenfeld machinery and equipment, the company provided assistance in getting the manufacturing operation up and running. BSD was recently featured on the cover of Plastics News: Click here to see the story! Wittmann Battenfeld s Brian Heugh (left) and Dave Wyscarver (right) with Trista Bonds of BSD Industries at their Chicago headquarters Wittmann Battenfeld has been a great partner for us. They ve basically helped us procure and install and commission all of our injection molding equipment. They have helped us from the design all the way through to production. We are certainly grateful for their support and are happy and pleased with the integration platform that they offer with the Wittmann 4.0 system because all of the auxiliary equipment is integrated within the Wittmann controls platform, so it gives us the opportunity to have a better change over time, a better processing ability, and it just improves our overall throughput for our manufacturing process. Trista Bonds, VP of Engineering & Manufacturing Operations, BSD Industries BSD Industries molds compostable cutlery using Wittmann Battenfeld Machinery & Equipment with 4.0 Capabilities Wittmann 4.0 has helped to increase productivity with seamless robot and auxiliary integration all controlled through the Injection Molding Machine control. The improved connectivity of equipment, superior human interfacing and strong data acquisition are just some of the many benefits. Having full network capability improves data acquisition and archiving manufacturing and quality data. The web connectivity allows improved molding machine service and support via remote access. Wittmann Battenfeld Opens Larger West Coast Office A Complete Wittmann 4.0 Integrated Molding Cell is installed at new Wittmann Battenfeld Orange County Location Due to continued growth, Wittmann Battenfeld has moved its US West Coast office to a new facility in Orange County (Placentia), California. The new building has almost triple the amount of space from the former location. Key features include: a training room that can easily handle a class of 12 people for robot or machine training a complete Wittmann 4.0 integrated molding cell featuring a Smart- Power 120/525 machine with W818 robot and auxiliaries including a Tempro plus D dual zone TCU, a G14 SL blender, and a 6-zone Flowcon water flow regulator Our new location is closer to more of our customers, as well as major airports and area attractions, said Mike Formella, Wittmann Battenfeld s West Coast Regional Director. The new dedicated, climate controlled training room is very helpful to us on the West Coast as it is easier for customers to send people to SoCal for training rather than IL or CT. The new Wittmann 4.0 molding cell is up and running, and 2 additional fully functioning 4.0 cells (one with SmartPower and the other with EcoPower) are planned in the near future to use as demonstrations and for mold trials. Midwest Technical Center Expansion With an expanding market in the region, and a desire to offer the best customer service possible to all of their clients, Wittmann Battenfeld has added a 750 ft2 state-of-the-art training room to their Midwest Tech Center in South Elgin, IL. Modeled after the company s primary training room in Torrington, CT, the new addition includes three tiers of theater-style seating with an overhead projector and screen in a climatecontrolled room, allowing for both laptop-based and hands-on training sessions any time of the year. With two robots, a W818 and a W822, and a 35-ton SmartPower injection-molding machine in the room as well, attendees of training sessions can practice running programs on a simulator and then transfer it to an actual robot to see how their work translates to a real machine. From the feedback we ve had, local customers really appreciate the addition of this training room to their region, said Bob Arsenault, Regional Sales Manager for Wittmann Battenfeld. It is a clear signal to them that their business is important to Wittmann Battenfeld and that we are going to do everything we can to give them the best service available in the industry, from our initial contact and sales process all the way through training their employees to get the most out of their new machines when they re installed. Classes are currently offered once a month and are run by in-house training staff who have learned the ins and outs of the equipment from the source Wittmann s world headquarters in Kottingbrunn, Austria. The trainings take three and a half days to complete, and combine hands on work with study and programming time. A new State-of-the-Art Training Room has been added to Wittmann Battenfeld s Midwest Technical Center
