AIMS AND OBJECTIVES This seminar is an activity part of the WAT_Ganghwa 2007. For the participants (students, professors, local experts and people from the government), it is an intensive learning session which will: Situate the context of the action to be taking in the peripheral area of Ganghwa Island; and Report the local and international knowledge regarding selected problems ( «Landscape enhancement, urban limits and interfaces» in the context of an historical city) in the framework of the WAT_2007. On another hand, the specific objectives of the seminar are to: Welcome the local and international participants to the WAT_2007; Communicate all the relevant scientific information for the realization of the WAT_2007; Generate a thought on the planning of the peripheral area of a city in a developmental context; Communicate to all participants of the WAT_2007, to the representatives of the municipality and the local authorities, the local and international expertises in this field. 1

PROGRAM The seminar will take place on a day and an half as an introduction to the WAT_2007: - The first day (November 6 th PM) is devoted to the visit of the City of Ganghwa and its territory limits and interfaces as a welcome session and to underline the partnership with the City of Ganghwa. - The second day (November 7 th AM&PM) is divided in three specific sessions : 1- Urban Landscape: particularities, projects, management; 2- Ganghwa and Incheon: history and development issues; 3- Presentation of the WAT_2007.
